Interesting.  I wonder if these are snippets of more full interviews that will be published after the show airs?

They all look like they just finished fighting in EF.  I was waiting for the myrrdraal or trolloc interview.

I liked the interview! They seem to have a good understanding of the characters, with the exception of Mat and Egwene.

For Mat:

There is clearly a difference in the upbringing between show Mat and book Mat. It looks like in the show his parents are going to be dirtbags/drunks/cheats/etc.

For Egwene:

No hint of the fact that Egwene is a highly controversial character (and in several Reddit opinion polls with hundreds of votes counted, she scored the lowest as a favorite in the EF5). In the interview I found it interesting that she gave the impression that Egwene is absolutely beloved by fans.. She's ambitious and wants to help the world, yes, but she is also very headstrong and arrogant at times, among other flaws. Rafe has stated that Egwene is his favorite character. I wonder if the show is going to remove some of these flaws in her character.

So Ms. Madden is entirely on brand is what you're saying...

If this is true, I don't like it. How long would dirtbags/drunks/cheats last in a small village like Emond's Field? You'd be run out of town! No one would ever do business with you!

This (and the Perrin marriage) are the two things I've heard that I will be genuinely unhappy with. I don't want my boy Abell Cauthon to be some sort of bad guy.

Again - reserving judgment until I see the execution though.

Mat's dad was respected in the books - or at least not disrespected.

Not in a place i can watch interviews but will later.  I think a reddit poll for Egwene's popularity is probably pretty fraught with selection bias.  In my readings she was a slow burn character.  Decent, then annoying, then kept getting better and better.  I read books starting from 91 to AMOL with lots of rereads. Some of the characters really were better with multiple rereads.  I could see where other EF5 would be more popular, but can't see her as controversial character.

The Mat changes will hopefully work out.  I am a bit scared that Big change Sanderson referenced might be Mat's arc.  I rally hope the changes to arc didn't contribute to change in actors playing Mat.

Mat is such a boring character in the first books. As long as his core personality doesn't change this shouldn't be that bad.
