  1. Welcome to the Box! This is where you can freely let all of your taint induced madness show. Here you can talk to the voice(s) in your head, practice weaves you learned from your voices, eat tainted brownies while watching others talk to their voices, or any manner of things you like. It is referred to as the Box because it is a safe area for Asha'man to let out some of the taint. Basically this thread is for shenanigans, randomness and insanity. Have fun!

*proceeds to reverse the Traveling weave to see what happens* @StarRisk, care to go through it?

  2. Mother @Elgee, that's hilarious! I had no idea there was such an interesting story behind your name!

And @Phaedra, your name story was really interesting too! I wondered about yours, since it always seemed like a very unique name.

That was basically my reaction. I was reading it during lunch, and thank the Light I didn't have anything to drink.

  3. @Hayl3y Sedai, sorry about the extras. I kept reloading the page, trying to get to all the topics, and it kept saying I hadn't posted this yet. Thanks for getting rid of them. I'm glad you're done with the bad stuff.

    Lily, that's really interesting!

    @Liitha, that's cool!

Thanks for sharing your stories with me! They were all really interesting!

  4. This was just an idea that popped into my head, and I thought it might be interesting to see why people chose their usernames. I understand if this question is too personal, and it's totally fine if you don't want to answer. That said, here's my story. I am a huge fan of the Asha'man, and I was struggling for a username, so when I saw Asha'man in someone else's name, I thought that was a good idea. Then I was looking for an Old Tongue word as the other part. I came across Shar which means of the bloodline of or something close to that. Aman means Dragon, so altogether, my name means either, Asha'man as in the Black Tower, and then I am of the bloodline of the Dragon, or it means Guardian of the bloodline of the Dragon. I'm fine with either, and I haven't decided which one it is. Do you have any stories about why you chose your name?

There are some really catchy quotes, those that are memorable and stick with you. What ones come to mind to you?

One that I really like (I can't remember who says it) from Winter's Heart:

"She's channeling saidin." - In response to Aran'gar seizing saidin during the Cleansing of Saidin

    Of course there's also

"Kneal, or be knealt." - Taim (Lord of Chaos - post Dumai's Well battle)

What other great ones come to mind?

Eben Hopwil says Aran'gar is channeling Saidin. Sorry for the rest of the quote. I couldn't figure out how to select the relevant part.

  6. Hail and well met, my Lady Dragon! My name is Asha'man Shar'aman. I'm new here, and have a couple of questions. My first question is what does "tainted brownies" mean? Not totally sure, and I want to avoid making a misinterpretation. My second question is, is it okay to have "Asha'man" in your name due to the ranking system? My third question is, how should I refer to those above me? For example, should I call you Lady Dragon, @Niniel, or something else entirely? And my last question is how much can I talk to the voices in my head, and allow the affect of the taint on me to show? I don't want to be annoying, if some Role Playing isn't accepted here. Thank you, my Lady Dragon. I look forward to my time here.

  7. I'm sure a lot of you guys have heard Ride into Obsession by Blind Guardian. But there is a demo of it, with some very interesting lyrics. I have an idea of the meaning of the lyrics, and would like to see what other people think. In case you don't know the lyrics, I will put them up here. I will also put a link to the song.https://youtu.be/62AWdtGLjGc

PLEASE NOTE: These lyrics are my interpretation only. I did not steal them off of someone else, I came up with them on my own. I believe this is Ishamael and Lews Therin speaking. I think the song is split into Age of Legends sections and Third Age sections. I'll say which I think is which.  I will indicate who I think is talking with their name in bold above their section of the song. My interpretation of the meaning is in bold. Lyrics are in normal font. I will put a bold star at the start and end of a set of lyrics that I think their meanings go together.

And without further ado, here are the lyrics.

    Lyrics and interpretation:

                      (Age of Legends)

                                           (Ishamael speaking)

Come, I'll show you the way (Ishamael talking to Lews Therin)

The land that no one else denied me (Talking about Ishamael's attempt to win the War of the Shadow and how Lews Therin stopped him)

Just watch these saddened creatures (Talking about how Ishamael believes that the Light cannot win, while others still have hope)

I don't believe our teacher (Either Ishamael and Lews Therin's teacher from when they were young, or someone who taught Ishamael about the Light winning.)

There's more to win, but I'm gonna fight this war alone (Talking about the War of the Shadow and working with the other Forsaken.)

There comes the end of the world (The Last Battle, either in the Second Age or the Third)

And there's the dying creatures (All the people dying. Ishamael sees them as creatures, either due to his insanity, or because he is one of the Chosen and therefore has a sense of superiority.)

Follow the road of our savior (Telling people to follow the Dark One)

Unholy grounds, this is my last stand (The Sealing of the Bore)

I'll twist then turn, then I'm stumbling about (Ishamael's conflict over following the Dark One, or his struggle to escape the Sealing and being thrust into another Age where things are unfamiliar)

Let Ages come and go, (Ishamael's belief that the Shadow would eventually be victorious)

    The Wheel will turn now

Ride into Obsession (Ishamael's obsession with Lews Therin and the turning of the Wheel)

I will return (The Dark One bringing Ishamael back to life)

    The Wheel will turn now

Ride into Obsession (Ishamael's obsession with Lews Therin and the turning of the Wheel)

    Forty-thousand men

Needs to understand (The men need to understand that the Dark One will eventually triumph)

Come to follow the Lord (The men have come to follow the Dark One)

    (Lews Therin speaking)

       Fourteen days my friend *

By the law will you die (Talking about a potential law that says Darkfriends have fourteen days to prove their innocence before they are executed) *

I'm feeling so alone (Lews Therin is thinking about how he killed his family. This could be before he was Healed or after.)

Ilyena (Lews Therin is mourning Ilyena)

Where will you go? (Lews Therin is wondering where Ilyena will go now that she is dead)

And where is the wind and will I die? (Lews Therin is wondering if he will kill himself with the amount of Power he has drawn. The mention of wind could be just Lews Therin rambling in his madness, or he perceives his madness as something that wind could clear away, such as fog or clouds over his mind, and he is wondering where his sanity is going.)

    (Ishamael speaking)

Here on my own, (Ishamael was allowed to escape the Seal every thousand years, but was on his own)

A snake and a lion I pray (This is referring to the Great Serpent and Andor, possibly referencing Rand or Elayne)

Unholy grounds, this is my last stand (This is Ishamael's fight with Rand in the Stone of Tear.)

I'll twist then turn, then I'm stumbling about (Ishamael's death in the Stone of Tear)

Let Ages come and go, (Ishamael's belief that the Shadow would eventually be victorious)

             The Wheel will turn now

Ride into Obsession (Ishamael's obsession with Lews Therin/Rand and the turning of the Wheel)

I will return (The Dark One bringing Ishamael back to life)

    The Wheel will turn now

Ride into Obsession (Ishamael's obsession with Lews Therin/Rand and the turning of the Wheel)

Oh, I cannot leave it (The Last Battle)

    Now it's time for bleeding

It's the afterlife I run from (Ishamael's desire to die so completely that the Wheel will never spin him back out)

And now all the witches were weeping (The Third Age Aes Sedai. This could be the breaking of the Tower)

Right now while the world is sleeping (This could be all the death at the Last Battle, or that the world was unaware that the Dark One was stirring and the Forsaken were loose. In effect they were "sleeping")

I'm here to conquer your damned (The damned are most likely Darkfriends, and Ishamael has come to ready them for the Last Battle)

And now I'll be on my way (Ishamael has completed his task of readying the Darkfriends for Tarmon Gai'don)

A snake and a lion I pray (This is referring to the Great Serpent and Andor, possibly referencing Rand or Elayne)

And over and over and over again (There is no end to the turning of the Wheel)

And over the bridge we shall go (The bridge could be a way of saying "And into the next Age we shall go." This piece is intriguing because it seems to say that Ishamael is losing his faith in the Dark One)

    I'm falling down

Beyond the doors I see (Ishamael's crumbling sanity as Moridin)

Walk with me and you'll find obsession (Ishamael reflecting on his life, and his obsession with Lews Therin and Rand, as well as the turning of the Wheel)

You will never be alone (Ishamael might view his insanity as something that will not leave him alone. He could also see the Wheel as never leaving him alone by spinning him out time and time again. The "you" in this statement is most likely Ishamael's madness talking, or him thinking of his life as if describing it to someone else.)

Walk with me and you'll find obsession  (Ishamael reflecting on his life, and his obsession with Lews Therin and Rand, as well as the turning of the Wheel)

    End lyrics and interpretation ?

Okay, I know that was a lot, so congratulations if you made it here! This took a lot of time and effort, so I would really appreciate if you told me your thoughts. I am totally open to new ideas, so let me know if you think something doesn't quite fit, or you have a better idea. Thanks!

I want to say RJ addressed this at one point, or at least indirectly in regards to Weapons

Anything made out of Iron can be turned into Cuendillar, would almost always be insanely heavy.

Now there could be ways around the weight.

Take "Dragons" as an example. What if they just made a thin tube out of Iron that weight like 5 pounds, and turned it into Cuendillar. If it gained 5 pounds in weight.. it wouldn't even matter.

What about the seals on the Dark One's prison though? If I remember right, Moiraine was able to keep at least one in her belt pouch, which to me implied that cuendillar wasn't that heavy. Although, it might matter what it is you're turning to cuendillar. I imagine the harbor chains at Tar Valon were probably pretty heavy. But I don't think that any of the items that the Aes Sedai were making were that heavy because no one would want a cup that they couldn't lift, even if it was made of cuendillar.

And what about cuendillar weapons? Could a cuendillar sword cut? Would it be too heavy to swing?

I think that a cuendillar weapon could cut, and the weight would matter on what kind of weapon you used.

  9. Can you make cuendillar armor? It seems to me like you should be able to. Egwene's weave for making cuendillar turns iron into cuendillar, so you could just place the weave on metal armor, and have cuendillar armor right? So why didn't Egwene do that? She could have at the very least outfitted Gareth Bryne in it. What do you think? Can armor be made cuendillar?

  10. If you were gender fluid and you could channel, would you channel saidin or saidar? Or would it switch depending on your gender? Or would you just channel saidar if you had a female body, or saidin if you had a male one? Would you be excepted into the White Tower or the Black Tower? Suppose you suddenly were channeling saidar in the middle of weaving something of saidin? What would happen if you were linked? How about a'dam? Would they work on you?

I know this is a lot of things to consider, but they would all need to be if gender fluidity was a thing in the Wheel of Time. I personally think that you would channel according to your present gender, and that you would be more likely to be excepted into the Black Tower than the White.

If you were weaving something and then you were holding the other side of the One Power, I think your weave would dissipate without doing anything.

If you changed gender (and sides of the Power) when you were linked, I think you could either end the circle, if that made the circle too big to follow the rules, and if it didn't then it would just make there one more saidar, or saidin, wielding person in the circle than there was at the beginning.

I think the a'dam would affect you either way, but you would need a male a'dam to contain you without incredible pain, if you were a man at that time.

Let me know what you think, as this is a very fascinating topic for me, and I would love to see what other people think of this idea.

    Thanks for your time!
