I'm trying to make a Wheel of Time inspired board game for me and my friends to play, but I need some help with facts. I just have the book on audible, so I can't skim around to find out what I need to know. Please help!

What countries did Rand control in books 10-12?

Were their alliances between countries? Was Andor allied with Tarabon?

    Thanks!

Rand controlled Cairhien, waiting for Elayne to take the Sun Throne. Elayne was fighting for the crown of Andor, and Rand did not control Andor. He had Tear, until he made Darlin King there. Rand was still a highly influential figure in Tear, but did not rule it outright. Rand was King of Illian. He had a very minor control of Arad Domon in the Gathering Storm, but that likely evaporated when he left. Like King of Nowhere said, Rand unknowingly controlled Ghealdan, as Alliandre had sworn to Perrin. Rand has an alliance with Mayene. The Seanchan controlled Altara, Amadicia, and Tarabon. Murandy was just sort of there. The Borderlanders had left their posts, and Rand had no control there.

    Hope this helps a little!

I just finished the 12th book! I don't know if you've finished it yet, but I almost cried! Not because it was necessary sad, but it was just so emotional. With other emotions. Anyway, I'm starting the 13th now!

That’s great! I actually just finished it. I thought the ending chapters were really interesting, but not necessarily super emotional. Each to their own though!

The threat I heard (not from leaders just gossip so I don't know how much of it is correct)  is to cut all clubs that are not having enough active members, what that means I don't know, but it can't hardly be to strickt since almost all clubs are pretty dead..?

Over to something more pleasant, I woulda loved to hear from the oldie a little more of the history and customs of bt?

Ooo. That would suck if BT got taken away!

I would too! *sits down on rug awaiting story time* Please tell us how about the old BT, @Locke!

Ok just save a crumb or two for newbie?

Btw did anyone tell you about the discord chat? We didn't have an official BT chat before to day ofcourse..but we do now?

    Haha! I will. Maybe.

I didn't know about the discord chat. Is it like an invitation thing or what?

Cause when I joined their main thread was "the 100 000 post thread" and it's marked spam! ? Actually it was illian running around all over the place promoting his private fight club..you had to be a member to vote, and plus have you met niniel and the baby trolocs? And when you're not in the laughing mood you could always strike up an interesting conversation here.

Ahh. I have not met the baby Trollocs! Are they for target practice, experimentation, or something less evil?

What? This is wheel of time not return of the invisible hood? I can see you you know! (besides I know a lot of things, I'm a regular at wot wiki and may ir may not be in possesion of a big white book?)

Btw did you choose a faction yet?

Ahh. Well, I knew you could see me, but I wondered why you would join the BT if you didn't even know what it was.

@Asha'man Shar'aman I think you're right about the River of souls not being a prequel, but I thought there was another book about a wolf or something?

This was it: Amazon.com: Warrior of the Altaii (Audible Audio Edition): Robert Jordan, Michael Kramer, Macmillan Audio: Audible Audiobooks

That is actually another book written by RJ, not about WoT. Thanks for making it clearer to me!

@Lavandula Well, I like Perrin best. (I think he's closest to what I am like). Rand is just a little too dark, always talking about having to be hard, and Mat... Well, he's a little crazy. Let's just say that. My favorite weapon? Probably the Two Rivers Bow, although I've never heard of Perrin using one. City? I'd like to live in Caemlyn. What about you?

So, I'm actually listening to the books. I though that was a LOT to read, so I chose audible.  Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are the best for the series!

@Asha'man Shar'aman I couldn't decide on a themed name! I can feel the tension building as the book progresses. The Last Battle is near! I can't wait to finish the series, but then what'll I do? I was thinking of reading the two prequels.

Haha! Yeah I know how hard it can be to choose name. I just cobbled some Old Tongue together into a name I thought sounded cool.

I now! I can’t wait to finish the series. Two prequels? I only know of New Spring. River of Souls is a side book, but not a prequel.

I don’t mind Audible too much. It’s a little confusing for me sometimes, because of the different pronunciations, but overall, I think Michael Kramer and Kate Reading did a good job.

I'm honestly not sure...lets see if we can lure the boss in @Illian Tear

Ooooh wot quiz/trivia would be awsome I tried it once before but I could only get a few people and never at same time lol, but we could always try again (fake it till yah make it!) I also got a lot of texting games I just dont know how to do them with a bt theme cause I don't know a lot about bt.. (How could I become a soldier of the lights you ask, I honestly don't know. I came in spammed a lot and suddenly they said I could choose between brownies and chocolat chip cookies..)

That's funny because I know a TON about the BT. Besides, if we're the only ones participating, we could make it only up to book four, so that way nobody gets spoiled. You have to teach me your ways of getting raised. I'm all proper from the WT/Warders.

  9. Hello @Caleb Ellis! My name is Asha'man Shar'aman, but if that's too long, you can call me Aman. I'm on book twelve too! Lava and I are really the only ones around right now, so its great that you joined! Hopefully you will enjoy your time at BT! As to the foxhead ter'angreal, unfortunately we don't have one. Keep looking though!

@Lavandula, how do you know about the Asha'man if you are only on book four?

Haha! Yeah that’s true. BT isn’t very active. It’s sad since this is such a great club idea. I guess you and I are just kinda trying to keep it afloat until people can get back. I think we should keep it going too. *casually reaches through a gateway and grabs some snacks* Anything you want, My Lady Lava?

Nynaeve points out that it's the sign of a personal commitment to fight the Shadow. I expect there would be men who wouldn't wear it, though they would not be many, and even Darkfriends would wear it to blend in. Though in the southlands, it's become interpreted as a warning: "Treat with respect. This man may be volatile".

I doubt Malkieri would've slept with hadori on, except on active duty in the field.

Now that is very interesting! I could see that happening. There are certainly Malkieri men who have less respect for the customs *cough* Ryne *cough*. I wonder if Lan ever takes his off, and if he does, if it’s weird for everyone. I’m thinking he would take it off in front of Nynaeve but nobody else except maybe Moiraine pre Fires of Heaven.

I wonder if the hadori has more importance to Lan, or just a stronger bind on him because he would have no one to give it to him if something were to happen to it. I imagine Bukama gave the hadori to Lan originally, but since Lan is the Aan’allien or Man Alone, I wonder if he lost it and it had to be given back, who would do it?

I imagine it is just like jewelry, though with much more significance. That leather would soak up lots of skin oil, salt, dirt and would have to be cleaned or replaced on occasion.

That sounds very plausible. I wonder then if it’s like the Mandalorian’s helmet? Where a man can’t be seen without it?

  13. I was wondering if a Malkieri man could take off the hadori, however temporarily. I imagine that if the ki'sain was washed off unintentionally somehow, the woman who wore it would still be a woman. But how about Malkeri men? If they lose the hadori, or have it removed, perhaps forcefully, or even just to wash their face, what happens? Is it taboo for a Malkieri man to have his forehead bare? If not, how long and in what circumstances is he allowed to remove it? This has never been touched on in the books (to my knowledge at least). Did Robert Jordan or Brandon Sanderson ever mention it?

What you can do for the forsaken is adjust their storylines so they're killed. Like Moghedien, after she breaks Nyneave's block there's no need for her, same for others. Ishamael, kill and change to Moridin, Lanfear, don't change into Cyndane, too interesting as a psycho, Semirahague, Demandred, obviously, Mesaana, don't know when you'd bring her, as for the rest, give them their story roles or adjust and kill them. Belal would be a great place for a WOT fan actor or Sean Bean, because he's contractually obligated to die in fantasy series.

Have Aginor replace Ishamael in EotW, possibly with allusions to Ishy

Balhamel not sure but killed before Arangar

    Belal, kill in tDR

Sammael, stay and die as normal

Moggy, from when she appears to have Nyneave kill her after the block breaks

    Rahvin, killed as normal

    Greandal, not sure

    Asmodean, killed as normal

I think that could work fairly well. It seems out of character for Nynaeve to kill Moghedien, and I will be SO mad if they screw with the Mashiara scene. That would be fun to be Be’lal! It would be funny for Sean Bean too, but I can’t really see him as Be’lal. I don’t think Ishamael should be replaced, as it takes away from his character, and he is pretty important as Nae’blis.

There are a limit to what kind of wishes or FOIA requests are allowed.

nothing can touch the shadow, probably because things too close to the shadow might cause the elves to unravel.

also the only person who might be allowed to ask for a seal to DO’s prison would be Rand but only if it didn’t touch the DO and it was an object that can be carried thru the doorway. DO’s prison is a weave that covered the whole of the reality of the world.

As to how wishes can be fulfilled, Mat already gave us the solution. The memories Mat got came from hundreds if not thousands of soldiers. The Elves had a method of capturing the future memories of petitioners. It would be easy if time consuming to find any object that existed with the memory of ten thousand people.

Number of Foxheads? Who knows, but Nynaeve and Cadsuane had protective terangreal which can undo a Net... wasn’t it Lanfear who said that was impossible? And those were cheap terangreal that were made during the breaking.

But aren’t the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn in a different world, and therefore free of the Pattern?

If the AoL Aes Sedai could drill beyond the Pattern to create the Bore, doesn’t it stand to reason the Eelfinn could properly patch it?

I don’t remember the Net ter’angreal, or Lanfear talking about it.

But Mat asked for something to protect him from Aes Sedai, and the Eelfinn just had it. Are you saying that every item someone asks for they already have?

Okay. I know I seem to be rejecting anything against my theory, so I’m sorry for that. I am totally okay with being wrong, there were just a couple things you said that didn’t make a lot of sense to me. Thanks for responding and debating this with me!

  16. Okay, so we know that the Eelfinn can grant wishes and that the Aelfinn answer questions. But I think that this power was seriously underused in the books. For example, why can't the Eelfinn create a permanent seal on the Dark One's prison? Things concerning the Shadow in the realm of the Aelfinn and Eelfinn are dangerous, yes, but it seems like the Eelfinn have the ability to do pretty much anything, and someone would have taken that risk and stopped the Breaking.

I'm going to move over to the fox head medallion, to try and explain why there was only one, and possibly when the Bargain with the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn was made. While it is possible that someone in the AoL made the foxed medallion, why weren't there more? It would make an excellent defense against channelers during the War of Power. And even if the others were lost, or just never made, it seems unlikely someone would give it up, even as part of the bargain. The reason I say this is because if the bargain with the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn was made during the AoL, someone would have gone in and stopped the War of Power, possibly trading the foxhead medallion. But we know the War of Power still happened. If the bargain was made during the Breaking, then someone would have found a way to stop the Breaking, or reverse the War of Power. They might have traded the foxhead medallion then, but the Breaking still happened, so same problem. So this brings us back to the question of why no one properly used the Eelfinn, and why they have the foxhead medallion. Someone after the Breaking could have easily traded the medallion, perhaps not knowing what it was, in exchange for three wishes. So that solves the problem of how the Eelfinn got the foxhead medallion.

But now comes the problem of no one in the Third Age wishing for the Dark One to be sealed away. Mat can be excused, as he was ignorant of a good many things concerning Tarmon Gai'don and the Seal. Moiraine is a different story. She likely knew what the redstone doorway contained, and could have entered and wished for a permanent seal on the Dark One's prison. She could have given them any number of things, and even if it were her life, I believe that is a sacrifice she would be willing to make. Rand could have entered at any time, and wished to not be the Dragon Reborn, to have the Dark One sealed away permanently, or any number of things concerning the Dark One. It is likely that no Aiel entered the redstone doorway, and even if they did, they would be unlikely to wish for the sealing of Sightblinder, as they all believed him safely sealed away.

Now what if the Pattern won't allow this to happen? What if only Mat was allowed to enter, because he wouldn't wish for anything concerning the Dark One? This is absolutely possible, but it seems odd that the Pattern wouldn't let the Dragon Reborn do as he pleased, so long as he fulfilled his duty. Perhaps the Prophecies of the Dragon prohibited Rand from entering and sealing the Dark One. But the prophecies are just that, prophecies. They foretell what Rand must do, and therefore in a way, only detail what Rand will do.  So the Prophecies can't be stopping Rand or Moiraine. So that leaves either stupidity on the side of the characters, Robert Jordan didn't think of that, or decided not to do it and never explained why it's not possible or why people didn't, or the Pattern is restricting the easy way out for some reason. What do you think?
