I can usually deal with the spanking. Sometimes. Jordan's thing with corporal punishment for discplining adults is weird for us 21st century folk, but it wasn't that long ago - 19th century - that the cat'o'nine tails were punishment du jour for the wayward.

I grew up in a time (and maybe place) where you got your backside smacked for being naughty. To me, this is how things should be. I only have to look at how our country went to hell in a hand-basket after that was out-lawed.

Anyhoo, my point being that we're all different, and we like and dislike different things. Luckily RJ's books are a smorgasbord 😛

I find SOME of the repetitive things boring, but some of the intricate detailing fascinating and enriching.

I do find the concept that teenagers have enough sense to save creation whereas 250 year old highly trained women can't find their backsides even with a compass and a map, rather irritating.

But not enough to put me off the story.

This means the mystery itself is more real and provides a vastly more significant impact to the experience, partially due to the opportunity to co create and imagine possibilities without limits.

I'm trying to figure out now if I feel the same way about that, or not ... I do also love when something that RJ mentioned briefly 12 books ago, suddenly pops back up in a significant way (the fore-shadowing, as it's referred to here). Is that unrelated to your premise above, or in contradiction? Ima have to ponder! 😁😍

  3. It was so long ago .... LoL ... I think we OG were very lucky in this way. It was so much fun to theorise and then see where we were right or wrong!

I don't think I knew who Moridin was when he first appeared ... that was the scene in Shadar Logoth, right?

Honestly can't remember when I caught on. Bearing in mind that I've read some of the older books more than 30 times - things blur 🙂

It's worth mentioning, that he's going to be playing a larger role in Season 3 of WoT than he will in Season 2. I doubt he's even in season 2?

Tam? Will be sad not to see him in season 2, but glad if he's more prominent in S3 - he's a fantastic actor doing justice to one of my favourite characters.

Hi! I am Cerena, I was a Green Sister last time I was active here, so many years ago (we aren't gonna talk about me being and Ancient One lol) Arie told me I should come back, so here I am!

In my spare time I love gardening, cooking, canning, traveling and camping

I still even have you listed! Hehehehe ... welcome back!

  6. So, got a new laptop for work last week. It comes with Windows 11 pre-installed. Yay.

Does anyone know how to get it to:

    1) show less crap top and bottom so I can see more than a few lines of my spreadsheets

    2) show all my open spreadsheets (excel), documents (word and pdf) INDIVIDUALLY at the bottom? Currently I can only find a way for it to bundled all my excel spreadsheets in 1 button, all the word docs in another button, etc - that doesn't work if you're hopping between multiple ones all the time.

I laughed out loud at your 'pronoun' entry. Would you mind if I copied it?

I only noticed that now, and I must say I agree! 😄

@Vengeance208 I must agree with DojoToad regarding the romance thingy. RJ didn't do romance very well, to be honest - most of them seem to come out of left field ... lol ... anyhoo, there are so many other aspects of the books which are fantastic that I forgive him for that.

Do you have any favourite characters or groups of characters from the books yet?

I distinctly remember an Accepted getting up to some shenanigans with me when I was a novice. Of course she moved on to other more dignified stuff. Right Mother? *smiles widely, attempting to look innocent*

    ... would that have been @Kara_J? ?
