I forgot Amega was playing.

Also not sure what to make of JiF being all philosophical and lecture-y.

I'm trying to make a game that is 60 pages deep, move.  Literally, nothing is going on other than calling people town.

I'll step off my soap box and leave it alone.

Just very different around here and it's a little overwhelming to read 60 pages of nothing.

Don't let my random thought slow you down.  I happen to agree with you, and sometimes people need to hear the same thing from multiple people before they're willing to accept that their way is not the only way.  :-)

If it makes you feel better, about a year or so ago it was way worse. We'd have 100+ D1s with only 13~15 players.

Saying votes aren't useful was probably excessive on my part.  It's good for a lot of people and I use it often enough, it's just not my primary go-to.

I get what you're saying about wanting to holster your town reads to see who pushes them.  I've seen fairly obvious villagers duke it out in most games I've played and if I'm a wolf I sit back and let it happen while trying to look like I want to figure them out, as a villager I take a strong stance if I have one because I don't want a mislynch.  And that's more where I and I think a lot of the Cory Curren copycats come from--a sort of power struggle between wolves and villagers for thread domination, where we try to not let wolves have a free pass to sit back and relax when all the pressure is on villagers.

You make that sound like the only correct way is your way, which is not true.  JiF has been playing his way on JN for years, and he's done well.

I think the biggest difference is the amount of subtlety used.  JiF and I both come from a mafia time/place that prefers more subtlety than the way mafia is played now on a lot of sites (POG, MU, etc).

Two routes to the same destination, imo.

2 routes....just one is incredibly long and painful, so far.

For those who know 80 at JN - is David like him?   He thinks he throwing out logic but he's not?

David hasn't played here in years so I doubt anyone has a hot take on him from experience.

In case people want to get some clarification on my playstyle: firstly I'm town. Sometimes I comment to fish for reactions. Since I have a certain role, I'm trying to find hints for who else has roles that are relevant to me in the game.

And I do like to joke/troll to frustrate you guys :birgitte:

Gross.

Whoa whoa, I missed this the first time around.

Certain role?  And he was asking for who was his teammate before?  wtf..?

Thats why I asked if he's your version of 80...that post was disgusting.

Yeah, I keep thinking god this game is moving at a snail's pace.  >_>

I signed up for a second game at JN because I liked it, not because I want to change it.

But I'm going to be a bit defensive when for two straight games strangers show up to tell us how much our playstyle sucks.  I took deserved heat for doing the same in my first JN game.

FWIW - I'm not saying your play style "sucks" here.  Just seems highly inefficient.  I think 60 pages and not a single train probably supports that thought...but all good, I'll leave it alone.  I wasnt trying to be all preachy. Just trying to figure out why the tendency is town hunt rather than scum hunt and why you guys thinks it effective.

This is mostly a gut feeling list, based on some interesting theories I'm not prepared to share at this time because I don't think it's in town's best interest, plus a decent helping of meta for my townies and process of elimination.  I may be able to explain some of these, I may totally be unable to either because I'm not willing to theorize on thread or because I did this off the top of my head.  Categories are roughly ordered as best I could do in 10 minutes of thought.  If and when these change in the future, I should be able to explain the changes, at least.

It's probably completely utterly worthless to most of you, but I expect at least one or two will find this post enlightening about where I'm coming from.

=====

Most probable town:

15. dice

21. Zander

19. Shad

14. Kaylee

Feeling pretty good about these in general:

7. Andrej

11. Tinker
1. Darthe
12. Not Bob
17. David Hermes

Not on my "willing to entertain a lynch" list:

20. Boo Boo

5. Lee

=====

Need more content to decide (or may need to ISO):

8. Ironeyes - hello, Marsh, please come and play....

13. Crusher
16. amegakure
18. Krakalaka

6. Pralaya

====

The POE, in vague order of WTL:

3. Lenlo
10. Nolder
 4. Verb
9. John Snow

I'll try to keep current at work today and may run through some ISOs to determine my final decision - hoping for more to work from in the bottom half of the list.  As of right now I'm heavily leaning toward voting Snow.  We don't appear to be looking at the game the same way, and that makes me unsure we feel the same way about the demons.

No, in fact, that does not make me feel better.

The reason I can't get that behind a David lynch is because the trajectory of his play has been the following:

"Hey guys, nice to meet you."
"I'm going to try and find my footing here and have a bit of fun."
"God damn I'm catching a bit of heat I better say I was joking to make it clear."
"My ass is basically now on fire. I've got to retaliate and show them I'm not gonna be shoved around even if what I'm saying doesn't make coherent sense. Non chalant mode engaged."

"Okay, we seem to have come to some sort of agreement somehow. Time to be a bit aloof."

"Cool."

It was more awkward than something that was going to super ping my scumdar. This has happened to new visitors again and again, albeit a few details changed, on DM because they're the first people everyone jumps on because people aren't familiar with them. If I read his posts from a standpoint of "nervous returning character" then I can buy all the shit that he's saying whereas if I read it as scum then some of it is just wtf.

Did you mean to say the reason you "can" get behind a David lynch.  Because that synopsis makes his play look gross.

FWIW - I'm a visitor here too.  David has pinged numerous times and has nothing to do with him being new...I didnt know that.  And I'm not sure how many votes he had at his pinnacle but would you really define it as; "my ass is basically on fire".  I dont recall that type of heat.

Weird post and another effort to call someone town.  lmfao
