Where does purposely upsetting someone come into play? I feel like that's a personal attack if you're directly escalating someone else to the point that they flip out.

It's definitely a strategy used by some. While it's not directly insulting it can be really hard to deal with that's for sure.

 

That's also a heat of the moment thing. I've been annoyed a lot of times in mafia in the past, and come back with a fresh mind to look at things later, and it's apparent that it was only done to get a rise out of me. It's difficult to always try to take the upper road and not respond when you're annoyed. Idk. Walk away and rather go back later and look at the motivation for them trying to upset you I guess is the best advice I have.

that type of 1 v 1 riling up hurts games regardless, imo. I don't want to see 2 people going at each other for 30 pages and from an environment standpoint, it's hard to enjoy high post games that have a lot of one on one "arguments" instead of group discussion.

 

A lot of this is self moderating and trying to play like you're playing with friends, not like you want the other person to cry.

Good question.  On DM, I definitely don't play that way, but I do on JN.  Probably because (for the most part) those guys control their emotions better than people here.  So basically I'll gauge my audience before potentially using a tactic like that.

Thats a bit of a fine line but I think that the final choice will come down to Verb as Admin/Staff but I doubt they'll be labeled as staff.

 

But either way, if theres going to be a committee to help govern DM Mafia it should be voted on by the players thus eliminating anyone from using favoritism as an excuse imo.
