Snagged some quotes that I wanna respond to then I'll write a summary of my current views, feeling sorta lazy and unmotivated atm - all the studying I've been doing over the past few days has my mind feeling melted.

Des calling out Clov makes little sense to me

 

Honestly I have to read Clov emotively and not logically because he is basically 100% the same logically as either alignment

But I can soulread him pretty okay

Leelou seem interested in figuring things out, which is something I didn't see at all in her scum game - she was more reactionary

Tina being willing to draw potentially negative attention to herself early is her biggest towntell imo, she's another player I think I can read very well. I misread her in.... Mass Effect? and took a little more time to look over her games awhile ago and I think I understand the way she thinks pretty well

 

Interesting take. I can agree on a general note that a player doing something such as that would make me lean more towards town on them. I guess you sort of answered my question from the quote above though, so disregard explaining again :smile:

everyone else is varying degrees of null i don't feel like arbitrarily sorting out

 

i guess if there's any onus of pressure it would be on Nyn, Verb, Des and Clov as they have enough content and they haven't hit the villager list but a lot of people haven't said much of anything yet so I'm a couple miles away from a vote

 

I will eventually read Clov's soul but he hasn't been too visible yet

 

Where's the Andre read coming from, and to a lesser degree, BFG and Thane?  You said Tina and Leelou were had an increased chance of town after their voting, but I haven't seen anything that really makes me feel confident in anybody's chances to be town so fa

 

Just trust me as being the GOAT townreader and things you don't believe in like TOAN

AJ is the type of player I think I can read very quickly when he's a villager. We have similar thought process and he has intent to rock the boat IMO - I think he will get more obvious to you all as the game goes on but I've already seen enough

 

Thane I have only seen as Mafia and he seems more relaxed

 

BFG a couple of things, but I really liked her conversation with AJ

 

Blue - You know I'm prepared to trust you as far as I can throw you right now (which is more than I trust most at this stage)

 

Red - Hey now!  My open challenge to anybody who uses "tone" as their reasoning to prove it remains on the table.  Nobody, in any game I've ever played, has taken me up on it though :P

The key to reading her is in her casing during midgame.  It becomes more obvious if she's digging for info or mailing it in.

 

That's pretty fair - I can see what you're saying here looking back at my most recent experiences with her.

I like the bottom post a lot, and I think he (perhaps unintentionally) made a nice discovery about Verbal.  First post shows a decent interest in the game (which I admit, is hard to do with what we've had so far), but I need him to expand on a couple of the points - namely the second and third - before I can put any faith in it being different than his larger catch up posts from the Vendetta game.

 

It's kind of a shame that our first game together you had to see me as scum - not a very solid mafia performance either, I might add.

 

Not much to really expand on in the points you bring up here. I just find the original and reciprocatory votes to be sort of interesting as I really didn't see the reasoning behind them in the first place, besides maybe as RVS.

 

Pral's joke came across very forced to me. Dunno, could be a language thing or maybe I just don't get his sense of humor. Either way, it stood out and didn't really fit the flow of the thread imo.

Lol - it's all good. I've had some pretty good games as scum recently, but that wasn't one of them. Being on a new forum with a ton of new players that are generally all very good and experienced can be a little intense. Either way, I had fun while it lasted.

Yeah, still not liking RTE's posts. The first sentence is true though and literally just happened in another game, but that's because RTE was like the scummiest Cop ever and his claim didn't fit with what I perceived as a balanced role set should be.

 

What can you do?

I fully understand that you both are going to pass this off as joking/messing around since it's early on D1, but I really hate posts like this.  It's like the post Nyn and Cory highlighted earlier by Thane where he refused to say he was town (and referenced Lenlo's scumclaim in Real Genius as a similar example).  "Would I telegraph something like this if I were scum?"

 

Far too often scum makes a "joke" post like this, and then everybody is shocked when it comes true.  Best case scenario, you give scum a target for a kill that they can try to blame on somebody else.

 

I'm not a fan of the scum-joke posts either. I really don't feel like diving into mafia theory atm, but needless to say there isn't a lot of townie motivation in making a post like that.

 

Some still just do though... looking at you RTE :wink::tongue:

Following Des here - not just on the principle of the 'hi, bye' posts, but knowing Dice's scum meta too. Less content and moar lurking tends to point to a red check for this dude.

So quickly...

 

Nyn seems more abrasive than what I remember from the RW game, which is my only other experience with her. Not saying it's necessarily scummy but it does stand out and give me some pause.

 

Des seems a bit off this game. I laughed at some of his posts earlier but humor doesn't make people town - would like to hear his thoughts on both Clov and Leelou since he's now pushed both as mafia with about as many words.

 

RTE is basically always going to be scum in my eyes. His OP really bugs me, just reads put on with all the enthusiasm. Idk, could just be me.

 

Dice should make his alignment pretty apparent one way or the other soon enough, if he actually gets involved. Involvement/confidence = town!Dice, Lurking/Snipes = scum!Dice.

 

I think I may have trouble reading FishDyx this game. I can follow some of his posts, but he reads very objective to me which I tend to associate more with strong players that have rolled scum. The last game we played together I was mafia, so I didn't really take the time reading him. This game he is a strange creature to me.
