i'll try to make something out of this post, and hope it'll make some sense.

 

Slot01 - Cory: Haven't had the honor of playing with him yet, but for the moment, i like his posts and activity in the game. One of my biggest townleans for the moment.
Slot02 - BFG: dunno.... would like to see more, but her current posts give me the bejeebus.... scumlean on her.
Slot03 - Clov: Makes decent posts, don't have a bad feeling about him or his style. Townlean
Slot04 - Despo: interesting fellow. I read through his little WoT, and noticed that he was giving me a scumlean on the fact that i mentioned that i have a hard time reading people. My post he never did point out however was the one where i told Cory that i was town. Did he miss it accidentally or on purpose? Also find his recent interaction with Leelou interesting. Leelou stating "I was purely spamming and made like 2 or 3 game comments." was enough to unvote and vote dice. Dice being the main train for the moment, if i recall correctly. Scumlean on Des... 
Slot05 - Tina: From her current gameplay, townfeel for the moment. Though, as usual, i'd like to see a bit more.

my concern with leelou is her telling us to watch mish for a post restriction. She seemed to know something others didn't. Who else knows things others dont?? Mafia thats who. I hadn't noticed mish doing anything to hint at one so that pinged me.

 

Re BFG?? asking why leelou and not AJ or Verb?  Cause she is the one who stood out to me and i dont even remember them doing it.

 

back to Tina. Role fishing?  only if you call using dynamite fishing. I was pretty blatant about it. There was a bit of talk about you liking marvin or having a post restriction. I have no idea who the main charachters are as, as said earlier, I dont remember the book. Hence I asked flat out to get rid of wifom. Notice I gave you options regarding marvin. Some of them would allow you to not claim, eg i love marvin. I also didnt ask you to claim if you were someone else.

 

Is there something about this theme that makes people think there is likely to be more post restrictions then normal? cause its been bought up a bit and imo prs arnt all that common on DM.

I like the bottom post a lot, and I think he (perhaps unintentionally) made a nice discovery about Verbal. First post shows a decent interest in the game (which I admit, is hard to do with what we've had so far), but I need him to expand on a couple of the points - namely the second and third - before I can put any faith in it being different than his larger catch up posts from the Vendetta game.

I just found it somewhat odd that you directed that question to BFG alone.  Andre was correct in calling Tina out for the same thing, so it was odd that you wouldn't have included her as well.

Tina loves Marvin, so I wouldn't put it past her to just be having some fun. If it continues for much longer, than I'd assume post restriction. I'd also look at Mish for a post restriction.

Basically I don't understand that he remembers that there was a conversation around Tina and mine possible PR, seems to know that that wasn't from Leelou, since he's only questioning her about Mish, but can't remember who was involved.

 

My opinion is that it's all null, given the context of conversation and fluff at the time. RTE's broken posting could be another possible PR (42 words) but I suspect he's just having fun with it as it wasn't in his first post.

Yikes.  This is getting close to semantics.  When people are saying they "like this post by XYZ", or they "like XYZ's play this game", it is almost always attributed to a pro-town feeing.  If we simply thought it was funny or clever, a "lol" or smiley would have been used.  Or in Cory's case, about 12 gifs.  ;-)

 

But you're kinda backtracking here with a borderline semantic defense.  Not sure what to think of that.

 

As I said before, and Des has also mentioned since then, the key to scumhunting you is the mid-game WoT catchup reads post.  I'll abstain from having an opinion on you until then.

Uh, you serious? Pretty obvious what the difference is here. Clov posts during the day, like a normal person. I post at night, like a vampire. He is able to react to everything realtime, minus the occasional ninja, I catch up on everything after most action has died down already. I kinda like just posting as I catch up lately, makes it very organic and hopefully lets others see me as town sooner, so I first reacted to Mish's post, then several pages later saw Clov talking about the joke. Wasn't much, but to me at the time it looked like it coulda been Clov trying to react naturally to banter but not doing it in the moment, moar catching up to everyone else. Plus, in this way scum can extend earlier joke conversations.

Not at all what I was looking for, actually.  Bold was a comment on Despot (saying he has some conviction), based on a stance on Leelou (saying she's probably town).  I was actually wanting you to evaluate the case, itself.  If possible, remove the fact it's about somebody that you already were reading as town - imagine that you didn't have your mind made up on Leelou's alignment and could actually be swayed to vote for her.  Would Despot's case convince you?  What parts have merit?  Which are MONKing dumb?

I reread Leelou's first 12-13 pages or so and I figured out what I was saying

Bold - No, she seemed to be more observant about things that others weren't.  She never said Mish had a post requirement.  She said she was a candidate for one.  Let's look at early posts by Mish.

I'm not an expert on Hitchhiker's Guide at all, but even I can tell you that all of these had references to the theme.  It's plausible enough that Mish was just excited about the theme to geek out a bit.  But based off of these posts, I think it's also a reasonable assumption that she MIGHT having something in her role about referencing the book - especially when you combine her behavior with the fact other players were posting...peculiarly...to start the game.  If one person has a requirement, there's no reason to conclude others can't, and the likeliness that three or four different players all came out of the gates with multiple theme-related posts out of their own free will?  Unlikely, unless they coordinated it.

 

Which would be pretty reasonable grounds for concern IMO.

 

Seen enough from Cory to make me more comfortable with him being town, but I'm not a big fan of his opinion of me this game. He says we're not on the same page so that doesn't look good- and yet the stuff that we're not on the same page on... well he's the one that's wrong, not me. For instance we're not on the same page regarding Leelou. Well, his reasoning for thinking Leelou town (that she was interested in figuring things out) was already poked at and prodded by players other than me, and shown to pretty much not be true.

 

Cory, I'm town. I will also often have an unpopular opinion- but also I have a bit more experience with some of these players still so if we're not on the same page, you should maybe consider what that means for YOUR reads instead of thinking that I could be scum. If you ARE town as well Cory, stop trying to waffle or hedge on your read on me and friggin see me for the awesome townie I am. Or else don't, and try and come @ me. Leaving the door open to fos me later will only keep me from trusting you more this game, which means if you are town then we won't be able to accomplish as much together.

First of all don't turn this into a black or white thing. Just because you and Cory don't see eye to eye doesn't mean that one of you is scum and the other is town. It could be that you're both townies that think differently. This isn't a f**king competition to see who's right and who's wrong. Drop the 'tude. We're trying to get scum, not to shine up your ego or Cory's.

 

"I'm right and you're wrong" statements won't get you anywhere. It just makes you look like a child. And possibly drag us into town lynching town and doing the work for scum as they sit to the side laughing their asses off.

 

Bottom line is, you could be wrong (god knows you have been before). Or you could be absolutely right. Case people and let those cases stand for themselves. If you are on to something then it will show through that. And if you're making sense, people will follow. And I'm sure Cory will be the first one to admit he was wrong if it turns out that you were right. So cut the crap.

Most of these reads look good, but can you explain your conclusions on the bolded stuff Leelou?

 

• Despot - I could see null, but I feel he's been pretty consistent with what I expect from him.  He doesn't like to be told he's wrong, and IMO, he takes it personal when people "get @ him".  Do you expect him to act differently, or are you just going on the content?
• Hallia - I don't see how she's gotten into the game at all.  The only exchange I remember with her is where she posted something about disagreeing, and some people (including me) were confused what she was replying to...and she didn't do a particularly great job of explaining.
• Verbal.  You said that you'd be able to have a strong read on him, so that checks out.  Where did it come from?

The light at the end of the tunnel is near. I turned in my 10-page research paper today and knocked out my English final, now just for my Sociology final coming up in about an hour and a half. Once that's done, school is out for the summer

 

I've been sort of following along but mostly in a skim mode, school is taking precedent atm for me since you know... I'm kind of getting paid to get good grades and all that.

 

 

Just some quick thoughts from what I remember going through - Lazy's early town lean was beginning to slip with the more jokes he posted, but his response to others pressuring him about content comes across as stubborn town to me. He is basically telling others to deal with it, which I like - although some concrete stances would be appreciated.

 

I can actually see Verb being mafia this game. I could just be tinfoiling too early, but I don't think I've ever seen him being this... reasonable? Amenable? Something like that. Idk, the number of smileys I see in his posts kind of gives me the creeps because I don't remember seeing behaviour like this from him. He seems a bit too understanding, if that makes sense. I also don't really like how he seems to be handling BFG on the last page. He questions her about something and kind of gives her a soft warning about borderline semantics argument (which usually scum focus on) but instead says he'll wait to make a firmer decision on her later in the game. I know this is line with what he said earlier about being able to read her WoTs as a town/scum tell, but it looks kind of like an easy reason to avoid giving a read on her until later. I also find it interesting looking back how he was the one who specifically responded to me about BFG in regards to me having a hard time reading her lately.

 

If one flips scum I wouldn't be that surprised if the other does too, in other words.
