The year is 1977.  In the wake of Nam men returned to their homes only to find themselves battered by the media and branded as murderers of the innocent.  Things were rough, but it was nothing compared to what was to come. 

 

11 miles outside of San Diego, California.  Journal of retired PFC Hideo Rizewa- May 20.

 

I spend my days rereading my fathers old lab notes in the shade of an apple tree Donny used to promise me he would someday turn into a treehouse.  He never did, the old man too engrossed in this own crap.  I got to digging around in some of Mom's stuff the other day, some of the things we moved into the attic before he took off.  The bastard hadn't even stayed for the funeral when he found out that she didn't leave him anything expensive in her will.  Strangely, in her attic I found some old lab notes.  They were signed Dr. Daisuke Serizawa, my real fathers' name.  When mom moved us to Cali she said it was to give us a new life away from the badgering of the Chinese government but something about these papers makes me unsure.  It seems like dad, my real dad, was working on something big.  Really big.  I haven't dug into it much yet but a lot of what I see disturbs me, that of it that isn't crazy sounding.  I just can't figure out if I was drawn back here out of some innate BS duty to the new country, to prove to myself that I really did belong here, or if perhaps it was in my blood all along.   I don't know.  What I can determine is that while these are scientific notes they are pensive, reflective even.  He was worried about his own discoveries getting out.  Even here along the side he has made little scrawls about how his work should never be revealed and yet in the main text he calls it crucial to the future of science.  I don't know what he would have wanted.  I miss mom still.

 

Suddenly the sirens began to blare.  Hideo turned up sharply at the sound, body frozen and eyes alert, and then quickly began to pack his journal into a carrier bag where he also kept a camera, a bottle of liquid bandage, a spare pen and a bottle of lukewarm water for emergencies.  It was one of them.  One of the Kaiju that taught humanity to fear again, a living, breathing natural disaster that destroyed men and cities with equal effort.  They were frightening reminders of mortality.  To Hideo they were fascinating. 

 

He hopped in his vehicle, a cherry red 1974 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am and fired himself to lookout point, a teen locale that gave good views of the city for skaters to try and woo girls too dumb to know better.  The best part of this old home was that he was there in minutes and, if for only a moment, he could see everything that was going on without actually having to dive into the action.  Suddenly, the sirens stopped.

 

What the hell?  The sirens never stopped until an event was over or they were destroyed.  They provided warning for people, distractions for the kaiju.  What could it mean?  Hideo arrived in a flurry, cutting his vehicle into a makeshift parking spot and hopping out in one fluid motion.  San Diego looked normal.  Peaceful even.  Where is it?  Where is it?  His eyes roamed over the vast landscape for nearly a minute until he saw the slightest glint from the ocean.  Hideo lifted his camera, one that was specially retrofitted with a zoomed lens, and fired off shots as quickly as he could without dropping the previous or ruining the ink.  The pictures weren't good but from what he could see this was entirely different from any monster he knew of.  It almost looked metallic.

 

It was headed toward Monster Island.

3) Phase length is determined by your activity levels.  So long as you remain relatively active day will remain 72 hours and night will remain 24.  If a day happens to be inactive the following day could have as low as a 24 hour deadline and 12 hour night.

4) Please do not post anything about this game outside of a thread that I provide for the purpose of speaking about said game.

5) Scenes are for flavor.  

6) You cannot edit posts.  

7) Have fun!  Don't attack other people because you can make it less fun for them and it isn't a kind thing to do.

8) If you have any questions or complaints please send them to me in a PM.  I will not answer questions asked to me on thread though I may answer privately asked questions on thread if I believe that they would be useful for everyone to hear an answer to.

9) Please read the rules and scenes.  I sometimes hide fun things in the scenes.  

10) The town win condition is not posted in their role PM's.  It is: You win when all mafia are eliminated.
