GG scum!

If you say so. I wasn't trying to build or maintain meta - I was having fun.

About the "budding" Verbal and I always get accused of - it's us having fun. Yes sometimes one of us is scum, but this is how we play regardless of alignment. We're RL friends and joke around a lot.

That is established and understood.  But sure makes us on the outside have a much more difficult time getting town reads on you.  It clouds the water.

This was a very fun game.  Wish I didn't get bedridden sick in the middle of it.

Blame it on JN, hehe.

Maybe AJ being scum was only obvious to me?

He was obvious to me Day 2, go back and look who I was voting.

Don't know why none of us decided to avoid the aj/verbal thing and just go after Nerve?   /headdesk.

Cause I'm so fluffy and lovable?

Also, because if you lynched me and I came out as mafia, then you wouldn't really be any closer to if it was verb or AJ?

Nk's give some info.  But would have been difficult to change directions with so much focus on the two others.

Just got home and saw this... Well now I know that even if I voted AJ earlier the win would have gone to Mafia... Unless my doing so would have changed peace's mind in any way.

Ah well, it was just a game and even though town lost it was still interesting.

I guess I just don't understand why it matters if we joke around early on.  We are serious well before it is required, and I provided foolproof support that AJ could not be town.

You don't need a town read on me to see that - I think that's what is annoying me.

Two views of what mafia should be maybe?

Some play hardcore, balls to the wall, take no prisoners. And that's fine.

Some, like me, play to have fun. Have a few laughs, crack a few jokes, make some friends. But I can be serious too when it's time. Personally, I prefer a mix of the two. If it isn't fun, then why even play.

Day 3 is not the time to get serious.  Day 1 is.  You wanna mix in jokes, fine.  But when that's all you do...well, it's a disservice to the object of the game.  Play as you wish for your entertainment...just don't be surprised when others get a scum read on you for it.

Your reasoning was not fool proof.   Ishy was obvious scum to me...yet you didn't go near him.  It's all perspective.  Just because you think something is obvious doesn't mean others do.

If I have a scum read on your from your previous play..it is very difficult to trust any of your arguments late game.  That is why it is important for you to establish your town alignment as early as possible, so that you build trust.  You can ignore this if you wish..I'm just explaining how I read you this game.  And how your actions influenced my decision.

A disservice to the object of the game?  Are you seeing what you type?  Ishy has it right:

Your read on me should not have mattered - that should have been the discussion for tomorrow.  Today, lynching AJ, who I proved could not be town, was the play.

It is what it is.

I agree completely.  And neither is wrong.  My point is just don't be surprised if you choose to play in a cavalier way when people don't trust you end game.  It is what it is.  So, in general, pointing the fingers at others for a game loss is really just poor sportsmanship considering that those others took the game serious the whole game.  Not just the end of it.

I really don't care if others want to be flippant most of the game.  I get the fun they are having and don't begrudge it one bit.  I do have issue with being flippant most of a game and then blaming others for a loss.  It's basically saying "I have no responsibility for this mess."

GG everyone. Cheers boys.

Nerv big props to you as a first timer, Nikon you as well.

Verb your casing was all pretty sound this last Day. I agree that voting you so early was a botch on my part but you live and learn I suppose. Just another lesson for me to keep in my pocket, this was only my 3rd game as mafia. I was pretty sure I was a goner today but things swung our way thankfully.

Overall I had fun. Thanks to everyone for playing and to Kay for running it for us!

Peace, just shut up.  You fired the first shot by harassing me about losing because I wasn't serious enough in the early game - and then taking a shot at AJ if he was town (calling his play bad).  You want to throw stones, bring it.  But when you live in a glass house, I don't recommend it.

I showed you AJ couldn't be town.  You voted me for joking around too much early on.  If I had been more serious like you, I would have convinced you and we'd have won the game?  Maybe, maybe not.

No replacements needed - how unusual!

Great game all, this was so fun to follow. Nerve, Nikon, nice show from both of you, I hope to get to play with you sometime!

Actually not.  I thought you were scum because of similar reasons that Peace mentioned on Day 2 but also had the feeling that AJ and Ishy were your partners. I was planning to vote AJ the next day. Unfortunately, while I was sleeping, I was lynched. I think it got more obvious by Day 4 or so.

Yeah, I admit that I've got some end-game work to do as scum. It comes with time I suppose, I haven't really been in that situation before and generally my schedule hasn't been very forgiving over the last few weeks with my family vacation and what not.

The big idea was try to pin Verb down with some of his early associations with Ishy. I wanted to push the connection when you were lynched on D2 which essentially saved Ishy after his fake-claim.

Bolded is true for me as well. Personally, this is kinda why I'm against the RVS/joke vote stage as well. It's like people think you can only be funny at the start of games, so they have to get it all out of their system then. I like getting serious early, but always being open to being silly or stupid at random points throughout the game.

I gotta take Verbal's side on this one Peace. I agree that Verbal often doesn't do much actual scumhunting early on in games, but love him or hate him that's just how he plays. You can only yell at someone so many times for playing a certain playstyle that you dislike before it becomes fruitless. Personally, I have great distaste for that kind of thinking, cause it's basically like saying "I should always get a free pass for the first day or two" when NO ONE should get off scot free. But at the end of the day, I wanna help my team win, and that means that you have to take meta into consideration at times. You know Verbal will often be jokey and spammy at the start of games, and won't ramp up till a couple of days in, so if anything him doing that again this time should have been a null tell for you.

Fwiw, I also think Verbal did a good job of showing he truly wanted to find scum the last couple of days, and I like how him and Ishy seem to be contributing more lately than I remember them doing in the past.

Anyways, GG scum team. I'm glad Vos got a win in his first game as scum, and survived till the end as well.
