Hi guys... I'm out of town for the holiday weekend and am afraid I won't have much time to catch up and contribute before deadline. I've got internet access obviously but I'm here with close friends/family that I haven't spent time with in over a year. If I can after everyone else goes to bed, or in the morning before we all get up and make plans for the day I'll try to read through and place a vote. Can't guarantee that as I got very little sleep last night and may just crash after I'm stuffed with turkey.

This is awful mafia play guys. Withholding votes too much day 1 often gets us into that familiar boat of having to consolidate on the player with the most votes come deadline time. Putting a vote on someone day 1 shouldn't be treated with the care and deliberate anticipation of a girl trying to wait for "the perfect guy" to lose her virginity with. It's day 1, there's no need to dip toes in the water like this. Just vote, and if his response changes your mind, or someone else's case does, you can always change your vote later.

This is getting very close to the deadline, and I'm probably the best choice for a no random kill on day 1. I am the town poison doc. This makes me think either the mafia get two NK's or that there is a definite third party, but I have never played with poison before. The character is Beorn....I don't remember him, but it has been a while since I read the Hobbit. There's no way I can prove my claim, since this is only day 1.

This is what the wikia says, but I don't really understand it:

 

 

A Poison Doctor is a role that prevents players from being affected by poison. In roles where there is no Poisoner, it is a Named Townie.

Usually, but not quite always, the Poison Doctor's action only works on the Night that the Poisoner targets its victim. Check with the moderator if you are unsure.

Aside from the notion of saving a player from an impending kill, Poison Doctor bears no relation to Doctor.

Poison Doctor is usually Town-aligned.

Use and Power

 

Because it only protects against a single type of kill that does not manifest itself immediately, Poison Doctor is slightly weaker than Firefighter, which is noticeably weaker than Doctor.

From what I understand from the wiki, it seems like poison is like a delayed NK. Presumably the poison doc would prevent this somehow. If it's a fake claim it's a cracker, so I'm inclined to believe him.

Bah why couldn't you have just claimed vanilla? Well I still don't know if I believe you. That seems like a rather obscure role, though if we really do have a poison thingie in this game..... Unvote Vote Dice. I still don't want a random. What did the mod tell you about your role Starry?

Not much. My role works against a poison in the same way that a doc works against an NK. I can't stop NK's, if there is a normal doc, s/he can't stop poisons. I'm pretty sure this sets me up as a target Night 1 now. Yeah, everything else was PAFO'd.

Right then...Ru is right, that's an outlandish enough claim for it to be pretty legitimate: Starry doesn't have enough experience to know the whole poison thing.

 

On the other hand he could have just gone to the wiki and looked up the most obscure thing he could find, but this is the Hobbit and there are probably spiders, so a poison doc would make sense I guess.
