not feeling good right now, and i've given up trying to do a catch up read on this, as i would have to go back to page 79 to do so. i'm starting from D5 and hope i can keep up. really shouldn't have agreed to be a replacement, so i apologize Kae and key for my lack of activity this past week.

apparently Nights Watch is cult in this, makes me suspect EP again. i recall his early claim of "not aligned with Nights Watch" early in game and that struck me as odd then.

 

my gut still pings on BG and the thing with Darthe being a gambit.

 

as for my supposed slip, BG i had no clue that Darthe saying Gentry was in referrance to a character claim. now if he had said Gendry, then yes. make of that what you will.

 

 

also, Dice is still rubbing me wrong from earlier, and the JLM and Mish opportunistic thing on Night still sticks out like a sore thumb.

I loved the Twilight series.

 

I didn't mind the books, they were a decent read. It's to bad that it looks like the other side of the story will never happen now.

I just want to say there is alot of bandwagoning onto Razen for the reason that he was blocked when 2 people fall under that category at the very least. Kaylee was also blocked and yet the info is ignored. If Razen is not mafia those that only voted him for the reason of him being blocked should be scrutinized.

My Two cents before I stop spamming. I literally had to read the Twilight books for work when I got the job as the Young Adult Librarian at the public library before the job I had now. I seriously was told it was conditional on me reading some YA books and those were one of the series I had to read. Apparently reading adult books your whole life isn't good for a YA Librarian lol. 50 Shades I read because I wanted to know what the hell everyone was going on about.

 

Ugh on Twilight. While I am glad that it got people reading who wouldn't otherwise, they were terribly written. The whole series is written in a style of someone storytelling (aka out loud) rather than actual proper grammar and story writing. They are a LOT of plot holes, Bella has no personality other than that she's clumsy and in love with Edward. Edward has no personality other than that he's been a vampire for over 100 years and is controlling. I mean, please tell me what there is to love. There is virtually no plot (oh, wait, people are trying to eat her because she smells good. Lame.), the characters are not that interesting, and the books are, once again, not well written.

 

50 Shades books are terri-bad as well, though that's to be expected since they started out as Twilight fan fiction. Once again the characters are very one-dimensional. What do we know about Ana and Christian's personalities other than that she's clumsy and likes being controlled but doesn't like that she's being controlled and that he's controlling? Also, they are terribly written. I think that's my biggest qualm with the two series.

 

Des, re: Hunger Games. People, especially right now in YA want love triangles, but just because that's what OTHER people focus on, that doesn't mean that's all that the book is about. Hunger Games has plenty more going for it.

I don't much like Twilight, mostly because of what Red said about Bella/Edward, that just freaks me out. The books promote abusiv relationships! Edward breaks into her bedroom, ruin her car so sh can't see friends he don't like, after doing the naughty she ends up bruised and bloodied, he controls her in so many ways. And she ends up giving up everything, her friends, her family, her very life (!!!!) to be with him!)

 

I disagree with you Des on The Hunger Games though. The love triangle there is different from any other YA books in that genre I've read. It's actually there for a reason. I personally think it's brilliant. Also: *smacks Des with The Order of the Phoenix*

yeah my other beef with twilight. is how aweful meyer treats the Vampire lore. i mean, its bad enough that she made them sparkle, but she basically wiped her rear with everything thats known and been built on in the vampire lore.

 

if you write a series involving mythical creatures, you stick to the lore created around them, not totally trash them in a way that makes people more likely to puke if they've read anythign decent on vampire lore (like Rice for instance)

Just finished the last book. Overall I liked them a lot, and I like a lot of the character arcs, but I still think the love triangle gets a little too much focus where as the uprising and war plot development felt very rushed. Good ending tho
