Rand's kids...when does he have time to be a father?

Forgive I'm new but I always thought Mr Jordan had good ole southern family values...I would think there's no way Rand would have kids with Avi and Elayne together...unless he doesnt know Elayne is preggos.

 

And shouldn't Min have some kids by now...judging by all the time she spends with him.

 

anyway my question is - do you think his kids will play any part in the final book? he still needs to get with Avi to produce those quadruplets.

It all depends on Rand's situation after the Bore is sealed. Is he going to live a "normal" life after that? Will he, Aviendha, Min, and Elayne retire together in a "quiet" place? Or will they continue to work to fulfill missions and further causes (not lead the world!)?

 

As to Min having his kids, I am under the impression that she's using the contraceptive tea up till now.

 

Rand's kids in the final book might have a role in the epilogue and glossary. There are too many things to tie up as is in the main chapters.

As for the Kids having a role in the final book i don't think so. I agree with Theodril as in the fact that they may have a spot in the epilogue. But i believe that rand will have plenty of time with his kids mostly cause traveling has been re-discovered. I believe if he doesn't die in TG, he will still have a part in Randland politics and then travel home and spend time with all the kids. How it will work with Avi been in the three fold land and Elayne being queen how that will work, but he will never leave his children because of how Tam raised him and he will always want his kids to know who he is

Also its been suggested that some of his kids will be amazingly strong in the one power and will be able to hold it from the time they are small children, and will be able to travel. So they will be able to go see him when they want and bring the parent in question with them.

Im sure Rand can just stay in a farm retired and the kids stay with him. Seeing that 2 of his wives are busy with their people. Rand will have no problem being a single father, his father was one.

That would be a fitting full-circle ending. I've seen some speculation that he will live out his last days in the Westwood of Emond's Field after the last battle should he survive. I've seen other more fleshed out theories that it will be a preserve that Perrin administrates and no one goes there but his friends to visit. I think Terez actually put that one out there. How great would it be for a slight look down the road 17-18 years where Rand Jr. is helping his father take a cart load of brandy to the Winespring Inn down the old Quarry Road, lol!

I'd say no matter what kind of family values RJ had they really don't apply to Rand. Last I heard, polygamy wasn't a classical southern lifestyle unless of course by southern you mean southern africa or the southern pacific island regions.

They have hundreds, possibly thousands of well trained people who can channel just begging to be loosed on the world. Right now the only thing holding the Seachan back is well ... the last battle. Once that is over, they will want to conquer everything, which is already destined for them.

 

So who knows. The last battle is going to be intense, epic even. But man, the war against the Seachan could dwarf all of it combined.

jordan developed such a complete world there are nearly an infinite number of stories that can be told. I bet we can get a really good book about what hurin's been up to this whole time, let alone everything you mentioned. Even if RJ didn't die, if would still have to end it or it would never stop

My impression of what you'd have called southern values was marrying your sister, but that's obviously not a genuine stereotype. I had thought that an American value was this family thing but hey...

 

Mostly southerners in the USA, to us Scots, look like they're as badly afflicted as middle Americans and Alaskins in terms of total and absolute shocking idiocy like Sarah Palin yet they combine that with a love for moonshine (which they think they invented!!!?!?!?), chequered clothes, shooting things, abhorrent racism, complete fiscal irresponsibility and a genuine dislike for all other Americans, especially mexicans, of course they don't count as Americans as Mexico is on a different continent. That's my impression anyway, from tv shows like Justified. Oh they also like really beat up motors, illegible tatoos and women that almost constantly speak in condescending tones using stock phrases and speaking about their husbands momma.

To be fair western values are surfing, smoking pot and refusing to get with agenda and eastern values are about being as rude as you possibly can, making huge assumptions about people and driving a taxi/being a cop or taking a taxi or being investigated by cops, sometimes all of these things at once. I suppose I'd get on best with New Yorkers because I eat all my meals by the side of the road and shout at everyone but also I could do well in the northern states which have absolutely no reputation whatsoever ever outside of the USA because I'm a very prejudiced guy!

 

I don't know what you think of Scotland but we all take drugs, we're all very violent and incredibly cultured, like we'd recite poetry and kick your teeth in simultaneously, we don't care what we eat so long as it shortens your life span and shape doesn't define man and woman's clothing but the patterns therefore tarted skirts are in and floral ones are out, we base our traditional music on the sounds of the local slaughter house and we absolutely hate English people, as they raped our grand parents.

 

Anyway, don't think that RJ based anything on supposed values and the biggest contribution real life made to our story for RJ was vietnam and dumai wells, dead women and heads blown to pieces. Frankly I'm surprised the entire book isn't about that.

Rand has a history of not being able to say no to women. Wether it is far daris mai, Moraine, Egwene or his girlfriends, if they ever ask anything of him he always breaks down and gives it to them. So If Avi comes along and says 'Rand Al'thor, you are going to knock me up tonight' there is will be (if RJ was still writing it) six chapters of him agonizing over it and then getting down to business, no matter that he will die tomorrow.

 

Reminds me of a thread that was locked here when BS was announce to continue the series saying that because he was a Mormon or something he wouldn't be able to write that Rand had premarital sex.

First off, Justified takes place in Kentucky, which is more a mid-western state then a southern one. Secondly, your description of southerners sounds like every bad cliche gathered from every crappy movie/tv show depicting red-necks and/or hillbillies that's ever been made, most of them by people that have never set foot in the south. Thirdly, Mexico is not on another continent, it's still North America and most people I know around here have no problem with Mexicans (I have a Mexican sister-in-law and some of my best friends are Mexican) or blacks (I have some good black friends too as well as a cousin who is married to a black guy). Illegals are another story, but that's nothing to do with racism and everything to do with them coming here, not paying taxes, eating up jobs people need and leeching off our government programs. I believe that Egwene is going to change how Aes Sedai work a little. I think when they approach 300, they will un-swear their oaths and instead go to the Kin for the rest of their lives. That way the "Aes Sedai" will live on a good bit longer. Possibly another 300 years longer. Not many people would rather swear some oaths than live for 300 more years.

 

But in short, I think Elayne will live as long as Avi.
