Okay, I got the idea for this via another forum that had it about the best fantasy writer ever. Here's how it goes. For two weeks, people will nominate 2 (and only 2 or else your nomination will be disqualified) bands or singers. Then after that 2 week period is over, I will mix and match all the nominees so that it is a versus vote between two of the nominees (for example: Staind vs. Nelly). Then I will post all of those versus matches and then everyone will vote for their favorite of the two and PM me with their choices and so on and so forth until I add up all the votes in the versus matches, the one with the highest amount of votes between the two will move on to the next round. As time goes on, I will narrow it down until only two remain and after that vote goes through, the best band or singer of the 21st century will be announced.

I will start off the nominations.

Staind

Lacuna Coil

IN THE EVENT OF A HUGE AMOUNT OF NOMINATIONS I WILL CLOSE THE NOMINATIONS EARLY. BUT IF IT GOES ON AT A DECENT PACE, THEN IT WILL END AT THE TWO WEEK PERIOD. I SAY THIS BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO GET SWAMPED WITH TRYING TO FIX UP ALL THE VERSUS MATCHUPS.

Does it have to be 21st century? Most of what I listen to is 80's or 90's. For 21st century I would have to say Ben Gibbard (because I really can't decide between Postal Service and Death Cab). And you will know us by the trail of dead for a second choice.

Well saying that I have a particular penchant for a bit of Mendelsohn now and then! with a bit of Bach thrown in from time to time. There's nothing like reading WoT while listening to some classical music!

It's hard to choose from artists in the 21st century...wow. I'll go with people I don't think anyone else will nominate, even though they honestly might deserve the award:

The Roots

Foo Fighters

i will nominate

Pink Floyd (they did play together-all of them at the Live 8 in 2005 though nothing new has been written since the 1980s)

and

U2 because they are capable of change and adaptation surviving decades of trends

something tells me i am way too late for this but hey i will vote anyways. I dont listen to much music with melodic singing but i would definately say without question that may twqo favourite melodic singers would have to be Mike Patton and Jeff Buckley
