Who is your favorite Aes Sedai from the books? We really want to know....

 

I would tell you who my favorite is....but,...I haven't even gotten the chance to read the first one, seeing as our copy is being borrowed. So, i don't have a favorite technically. Okay. Let's get this discussion started.

There are quite a few I like (until Brandon turned them into bumbling incompetent cartoon characters, IMO):

 

Tarna Fair - interesting lady, came up with the only logical step for the Reds to take.

Tsutama Rath - a win for the crazy  ;D

Pevara Tazanovni - what a nice Red!

Cadsuane - 'nuff said

Daigian - a true Aes Sedai

Merise - well, she's bonded to my favourite Asha'man, apart from Eben

Seaine Herimon - shows that Whites are also human ... even though she makes a point of only being surprised once a day  :D

My answers are more likely to be Moiraine.  On my first read or two of the series like the three main boys I could never quite trust her.  Like the stories protagonists I grew to trust her.  That said I trusted Verin too.

 

I said my answers, plural, because I like Egwene, with Siuan's assistance admittedly she knows how to play politics and unlike every other character in the book she can actually see the big picture.  Well at least from the White Tower's perspective but I think that's pretty close to the generalised view of the big picture.

That would have to be Verin. She has an air of mystery around her, at the same time she has a very strong character. I like how she fights for what she believes in, while also being able to state her opinion in a way that puts people straight without being too disrespectful.

Pevara (Red) - I know she went Red to hunt Darkfriends after what happened to her family and I always wondered about that.  If the Reds' job was to hunt men who could channel, why would she join them just to hunt Darkfriends?  Typical DFs don't channel so going Green or Blue would have made more sense -- at least, IMO!

 

Seaine (White)

 

I'm going to go ahead and add Egwene, too.  She has matured a LOT, is making a phenomenal Amyrlin, and if she smacks Gawyn down like he deserves I'll like her even more.  I started out liking Gawyn but he has a long way to go before he'll even come close to redeeming himself in my eyes.  To borrow from one of my other favorite series, he's really been a git.

 

I realize I didn't add a Grey or Yellow.  For Yellow, I'd probably go with Nynaeve, especially in the last couple of books. 

 

I'll have to think on the Greys to come up with a favorite. The only one that is coming to mind right now is Merana but I need to refresh my memory about her and other Greys before I make a choice.
