You hadn't even realized that there were sirens inside of this station house, but the reverberations that shock everybody out of an otherwise lovely Friday evening prove otherwise. Phones begin to ring.bAn announcement blares over the loudspeakers...

All Hunters report to meeting room 9. All Hunters report to meeting room 9...

Meeting room 9 is the ampitheatre. The guy next to you is texting, and mumbling "no f****ing way..."

Video splashes up onto the wall screens, and there is Tandis, barely conscious, being rushed along on a gurney...

*panicks*

*spins in circles*

*runs in a random direction*

*smacks face first into wall*

*crawls the rest of the way to room 9*

*falls down several stairs before finding an open seat*

Everybody is running somewhere, most to meetig room 9, but some after the gurney carrying Tandis. You make a split-second decision, and follow the gurney.

The doctors are frantic, running toward the hospital wing and the operating rooms, when Tandis siezes and flatlines.

"We're losing her! Clear her chest!"

The gurney skids to a halt and paddles smeared with gel are placed over her heart. The doctor screams out and her back arches as the electrical current surges into her body.

The heart monitor blips. It's weak, but it's there. The chaotic procession of doctors starts again, wheeling the gurney toward the OR.

Next to you, a hollow eyed man says something in a dazed voice, but it doesn't make any sense. You look back at him, "What?"

Tragedy is reflected in his eyes. Tragedy, and fear.

"It's in her mind. It keeps crashing her heart, and there's nothing we can do. That's the third time she's flatlined."

You stare at him, not really understanding what he's saying. He watches as you don't comprehend what he's telling you.

"The master. He has control over her mind. he took control over all of their minds, and they didn't even know it."

You've never heard of that level of power before. You ask out of reflex, "All of them? The entire team?"

He just shakes his head. "No, not the entire team. The entire town, man, the entire town...

"Most of you have heared, but for those that haven't, I'll catch you up."

Everyone is now gathered in the meeting room. The Captain addresses the room, but it's the techs from the mission that everyone is looking at. They look like...like they're trying to keep from crying. The Captain's deep voice snaps your attention back to him.

"Just after nightfall, Alpha Team made an unscheduled attempt to destroy the Master. The teach team began picking up massive signals on a master vampire, right at dusk." The Captain pauses, "I don't need to tell you that we know what we're doing. This organization has been killing vampires for hundreds of years, and as soon Alpha team identified their target, they moved in for the kill."

He stopped there, staring blankly at the far window. His gaze stayed that way, even after he continued speaking.

"We now know that it was a trap. The master vampire that our signals picked up on was a turn, a decoy, made powerful enough to draw us in to the trap."

The lights were dimmed and an image flickered to life across the wall screen. It was Alpha team, at the beginning of the mission, buttoncams recording everything in crisp detail.

Tandis appeared on point, using hand signals to direct troops to the sides in a flanking manuever. They appeared to be inside of a shopping mall, headed toward one of the anchor stores whose cieling lights had been smashed and left to hang, like fangs inside of a cavernous maw.

The team approached at a crouch, ready to unleash death in the blink of an eye. And when the master they hunted stepped forward from the shadows, they unleashed that death in a fury...

The wall screen wavers, and changes to a view from a different cam. One of the hunters must have fallen behind the group. You see Tandis ahead, flanked by hunters on each side, crouching and ready. They freeze and raise guns to their shoulders in one movement, having spotted their target in front of them.

Then, with no warning, the hunter to the far left lays the rifle he carries down, pulls a sidearm from his vest and puts it to his temple. There is a muffled pop, and the hunter slumps to the floor.

Silence hangs over the scene as everyone stares in shock at the dead hunter.

Heads snap back toward the target as it screams a challenge to the group, sounding more like tearing metal than anything living.

With their attention and guns focused on the master that they came to hunt, no one would have ever seen the true master if the one hunter had not been filming from behind.

Tandis is shouting orders, and the group begins to fire on the master in front of them. From a darkened shop to the left, something emerges, something much larger than any vampire ever recorded. A clawed hand reaches out to skewer a hunter, then flings the body away like it was nothing at all.

Another hunter turns toward Tandis, shotgun raised, and fires. Tandis goes down, but the massive vampire blocks the scene as it lunges and another hunter is punctured by talons.

The view suddenly goes dead, and the screen goes to static.

The lights come back and the Captain looks at each of you. He takes a moment to steel himself before giving the orders...
