It just struck me when I was doing my re-read of the series again. Arent Waygates supossed to be indestrubtable? Yes Moiraine cuts a hole into it but I saw that as a weak stone in the middle but with an indestructable shell. Yet the Waygate of Shadar Logoth disappears after Rand cleans saidin or someone would have mentioned a waygate hanging in the air.

Waygates are not indestructable. During the trolloc Wars thirteen Aes Sedai destroyed one, and nine Aes Sedai destroyed another, though they were all sucked into it and killed.

Even if the waygate still exists, it would have dropped to the bottom of the hole that was created where SL stood, and would thus now be on the bottom of a quite sizeable lake.

But my guess is that it was thoroughly destroyed.

If it's still there, this could give a nice opportunity to close the waygates forever. Just open its doors.

I doubt it, the Ways are so huge, that the added water probably wouldn't do anything.

Sorry, thirteen Aes Sedai destroyed one without consequences. Elsewhere nine Aes Sedai tried to do the same, and were successful though it killed them.

But yeah, the energy represented in the Cleansing could theoretically have destroyed the world. I doubt it would have had problems with a waygate.

Just wondering, Where is this told?

I think it's TSR, Chapter 43.

Found it.  From the paragraph (Loial speaking)::

"A Waygate was destroyed once, less than five hundred years after the Breaking, according to Damelle, daughter of Ala daughter of Soferra, because the Gate was near a stedding that had fallen to the Blight.  There are two or three lost in the Bligh as it is.  But she wrote that it was very difficult, and required thirteen Aes Sedia working together with a sa'angreal.  Another attempt she wrote of, by only nine during the Trolloc Wars, damaged the Gate in such a way that the Aes Sedia were pulled into--"

Another way of "destroying" (then methods of fixing) are told later on in the same paragraph (Again Loial speaking)::

"I do let myself be carried away, sometimes.  The Waygate.  Yes.  I cannot destroy it, but if I remove both Avendesora leaves completely, they will die." ... "The only means of opening the Gate again will be for the Elders to bring the Talisman of Growing.  Though I suppose an Aes Sedia could cut a hole in it."
