Mat is kind of busy

Mat has a lot to do in book 12.

- Spend time with his new wife (maybe?)

- Lead the Band in battle (maybe?)

- Rescue Moiraine (definitely)

Half the book could be dedicated to him.  Just seems like RJ gave him a lot to do and not much time to do it.  Thoughts?

I reckon he will rescue Moirane and then take her to a force already moving towards Shayol Ghul. I dont think Tuon will be in AMoL that much

Not disagreeing with you on Tuon, but doesn't it seem kind of stupid to have this huge build-up to the end of Mat's bachelorhood - and then nothing?

I imagine and quite a few disagree with me on this, Tuon will be presant in the battle of the white tower, I am sure she is the one in Egwene's dream!!.  Mat will be busy for shure, not that is a bad thing, as other than the Forsaken parts, Mat is the funnest to read.

I see I must be very exact with my words on this forum.

``Doesn't it seem kind of stupid to have this huge build-up to the end of Mat's bachelorhood - and then not much?''

There are other plot threads that will involve Tuon. Rand is still trying to arrive at a ``non-aggression'' pact with the Seachan, and that will surely involve Tuon, and there is the matter of the battles in both Arad Doman and Illian, together with the attack on the White Tower. One way and another, and we may see rather a lot of her.

If Tuon is going to be involved in the WT attack, then I see RJ writing that from Egwene's POV rather than Tuon's. We've only ever had 2 Tuon POVs I believe and many scenes where she may be present may be told from another's character's POV, whom we are more familiar with.

I mean, there isn't much to a Tuon POV is there?

'Tis a skill you must master on this forum.

Yes I agree that I hope to see some post-marriage stuff between Tuon and Mat. It seems unfair to spend half the last book on them and then drop everything once the words are said.

I wonder how Mat will feel about knee-dandling serving maids in taverns now? He'll surely see at least a few more before TG.

I agree that Tuon's role will be limited....keep in mind that the main focus of AMoL will be to tie up lose ends and to watch TG unfold....(AND TO FIND OUT WHO KILLED ASMO  ;D ) Other than her and Rand probably having some type of meeting, there's not much left with her in the form of loose ends.

Also, the newlyweds you're referring to were going to be getting their own set of Outrigger Novels had RJ not be so untimely swept away from us....I suspect thats where we would have gotten our additional time with Mat and Tuon

Tuon also has to deal with Rand, as she has the little matter of meeting with with the Dragon Reborn. I seem to recall there being a viewing or a prophecy that said that the Daughter of the Nine Moons will bow to Rand or something.

I'm willing to bet that Mat will take up the most of the first half of AMoL (whether it's a single volume or two). Rand will stay low during that time, and the story will shift focus somewhere in the middle. Mat and Egwene are the only ones with a currently unresolved subplot, but unlike Egwene, Mat has to do quite a bit to complete it.

Yep, a lot of threads, and seemingly a lot of places to go after they are tied off.  Sort of bittersweet.  I'm glad the series will finally be over, and yet...

Surely you mean Leilwin Shipless, a Seanchan with a sword, and one that is already technically on Egwene's side. Egwene also knows and trusts Egeanin(sp?). Tuon does not carry a sword.

I think Mat's force will end up travelling to the WT and end up saving the AS from the Seanchan siege, or something like that. He could give the command to Egeanin, she is well trained for such a task, go off and rescue Moiraine, and come back to find that Egeanin has saved Egwene and the WT from the Seanchan. Two plots wrapped up neatly at approximately the same time.

Elayne and Nynaeve are the ones who knows and trusts Egeanin.

Right, sorry, I meant Egwene knows of Egeanin, IIRC, via the Tel'aran'rhiod conferences the Supergirls had. Of all the Seanchan, I think Egeanin would probably be the one Egwene would trust.

Actually, Tuon as the woman in question is a fairly popular theory. The sword is suppposed to represent the Seanchan armies or something like that. Personally, I'm more inclined to look for a Seanchan lady with a sword. Found one.

Egwene trusts Mat, he's a good friend of her, he may be able to convince Egwene that his wife can be trusted as well. And Egwene wouldn't even recognize Egeanin, she has changed her name, and Egwene has never seen her before.
