Lol, It's been like... 20 years? But I think my first Mafia game, I rando'd wolf.

I'm pretty sure I was lynched D1 or D2 and my team was pissed.

And then the next game, I rando'd Town.

I'm almost positive my entire wolf team from before immediately voted me on D1, and I'm just like "Dudes, wtf ya'll suck". lol

I'd think it would be interesting if @HeavyHalfMoonBlade was invited to the next game scum team topic and be allowed to be an adviser to them.

No posting in game.  No role in game but allowed to interact with the scum team.  That may help with his state of mind, seeing that perspective.

I'd be down for it in my game if he wants

Thanks for the game everyone 🙂 It was interesting, lol.

I think I'll be announcing my permanent retirement from mafia though. This was again fairly brutal for me. At least Town won this time, well done guys, though it had little to do with me. I felt to an extent that I had a good feel for what was going on, except for Ed he really threw me, but I guess getting shot will do that for you, lol. But Turin's "I wrote down random things" case, Dice's gotcha for not being emo enough (which he left up unexplained so skimmers, especially wolf skimmers could latch onto my "slip") and then zombie Darthe's "this is a wolf" declaration (which I am to understand was a ploy so the wolves would think you weren't on to them?) completely wrecked my standing in the thread and I will be honest left me absolutely livid. I was really angry. I am a really chill guy in real life but mafia just needles me in ways I don't have any defenses against. By the end I was consumed with paranoia. Why was Ithi working with Darthe? How did the Siren know Dice was going to interact with them? Why did Gud so overreact at a lighthearted joke? Every single player seemed completely untrustworthy. I would have been zero help had the endgame actually ended up needing any reads.

I've noticed that some people seem to think my trigger is being told I'm not any good (presumably from my "stop hating on new players" spiel) but honestly I don't care at all about that. Don't like it much obviously, but facts are facts, lol. What I find so triggering is the alienation, being excluded, the helplessness and sense of inadequacy that comes from no one listening and even if they did you don't have a clue what is going on. I get that enough in real life. Not wanting to make an AtE, but I spend Christmas, birthdays, my kids' birthdays, etc., alone. I live in a country where I don't have any friends and I don't speak the language very well. I've watched my entire life crumble around me and look back over 47 years of failure and bad choices that have left me with pretty much nothing. No career, no money, no friends, and no right to see my kids. So playing a game where complete isolation is a recurring theme has just not worked out for me. I hoped  it might be like some kind of exposure therapy, but it just rubs me too raw, and being everyone's favourite distractionary target as I'm so emo and no one listens to me if I get poked as everyone "knows" its only OMGUS, it is just never going to be a winning combination.

But thanks for playing with me, and all the kind words and all the help that was given to me. It really just is the nature of the game. I can argue that perhaps some people relish the toxicity perhaps a little too much, but it is just a game and it is my issue that I cannot emotionally distance myself enough. Which is a shame as I have had a lot of fun around the anguish, and it has been really fun getting to know such legends of Dragonmount. Something of a dream come true for me.

So thanks for everything, guys 🙂

This was hard to read friend.  Your life is obviously way more important than our silly political game, so you’ve gotta do what is right for you.  Fwiw I’ve been impressed with you since last game where you kicked my ass.  You have strong natural talents and the experiences you’re going through are part of the hill I think a lot of new players have to climb when ramping into this game. It’d be a shame to see you step away from something you’re good at and are rapidly being accepted into the circle of, but your health and happiness are the only thing that matters.  If this isn’t good for you, I hope to still see you around in dead threads or perhaps even modding.  If you decide to change your mind I’d like to hydra with you in the next game you’re willing to play.

on another note:

This isn’t at all important but, since it’s a point of discussion here: I thought you were a wolf for about half of the day where we butted heads and when I figured it out I kept with it, hoping that being wrong in thread would be enough to let me survive (I get NKd a lot) and parrot Ithi.  Tbh I played awfully as town this game, both lives, and was pretty selfish about my reads for a while there.  I suspect I need to be more of a role player and less of a leader given where I’m at IRL, as I just am not giving this game the thought it deserves to perform at a high level and people know me too well to fall for my trick bag.

Lol, he nearly got me lynched and probably got me shot. At least I can laugh about it now, hehe.

TBH I was trying to.  I appreciate Ithi giving me more credit than I deserve but I figured if I kept leaning into the read of you and was wrong about peace that they’d kill you to set up a lynch on me.

lol me?

We are all nice. If we weren't we wouldn't be able to play this game. It would be too hard if you thought people were really out to get you.

This game was particularly excellent mood wise. Although I might have my Town Tinted glasses on cos I didn't get any real heat at all 🙂

I think the curse has been broken 💙

The outright wolf claims had me rolling, and it almost worked.  I had so much fun this game, got to see another side of a couple people I haven't played much with.  The sort of ideas we had come up with this game and didn't use lol

We rolled out a master plan open claim in my last wolf rand and it was glorious.  Nothing like seeing a plot days in the making come to fruition and go exactly as planned.

First of all to understand how this works, every player had a gun with varying hit %.  A lot of ours were enhanced due to winning events, but we were outnumbered so we had to be careful.  We needed the village to waste most of their shots before we came out, because wolves don't achieve parity wincon until all shots are fired.

One of us had a neighborhood they could invite a player to each night, and if they ever died, everyone in the neighborhood would die with them.  We seeded misinformation in the thread that this guy was a peeked villager, and eventually it stuck.  We had two actual fully mod confirmed villagers in the game.  Going into night 5, the neighborhood had one unconfirmed villager already.  We buffed our plant's hit % to 100 with the event prizes and invited one of the confirmed villagers into the hood.  We claimed cop in the hood and asked the confirmed villager to proxy the information to the thread so the wolves wouldn't know who the real cop was.  Since we'd successfully mislead him to believe our boy was a confirmed villager too, he readily agreed.  Everything was set.

Day 6 kicks off with 16 villagers against 11 wolves.  We carefully chose an impulsive villager we knew wasn't paying close attention to mechanics, equipped him with a bulletproof vest at night without his knowledge, and relayed our night results to the neighborhood.  That player, we claimed, was a wolf.

Step by step, everything went so beautifully.

First, the confirmed villager hard claimed cop in the thread and said he had a red check on the other villager.  Immediately as planned, that villager took a shot at him.  Red checked player shooting at a confirmed villager?  Of course the village immediately pumps him full of lead.  The first to hit fails to kill him, making him an even more obvious wolf.  The village blows through a ton of their ammo hitting him a second time.

He dies and flips town.  Everyone's going what the hell happened when suddenly our wolf in the hood pulls out his 100% hit chance gun and blasts away the other confirmed villager outside of the hood.

Of course, again, the village immediately pumps him full of lead, wasting even more shots.  He gets hit as intended and explodes, taking out the two villagers in the hood with him.

4 for 1 trade when they were already behind, and two of those were the only confirmed players in the game.  It is now 12 villagers to 10 wolves and most of the villagers have no ammo.  The thread just goes dead silent.

Wolf chat sounds the alarm.  It's go time baby.  All 10 of us roll into the thread trolling as confused villagers while wolfing in the open.  I have no idea what's going on!  This is crazy!  We can't trust anyone anymore!  This guy's probably a wolf! blasting villagers left and right.  We take out another five of them while only losing one wolf in the return fire.  Game goes from 27 players alive to a wolf victory in a span of fifteen minutes.  😄

Thanks guys for all the kind and encouraging words. Sorry to have taken so long to reply but DM has been conspiring against me, lol. Really has been uplifting to hear that I am not quite as bad at Mafia as I feared and even more so to know that my efforts were not unappreciated.

Perhaps my retirement announcement was premature, but I will be taking a break from playing for a bit. Sitting in on the wolves is an interesting offer, thank you for that and the idea. I won't take you up on it this time but that would certainly be interesting.

Anyway thanks again, playing Mafia here has been a real rush for all that it has shredded my mental health at the same time, and it has been great getting to experience it all with you guys 🙂
