You asked me about my reasoning so I think it only fair to ask you yours, how do you get this? I know you're very reactionary, you've never taken being poked/sussed well, but at some point your gonna need to figure that out.

Here's the TL;DR

Heavy is scum. In an effort to be nice to what I thought was someone playing his first game, I made Ithi and Turin think I was defending him. Key took that opening and used it to push suspicion onto me while simultaneously defending Heavy in a more subtle way. They're teammates trying to make sure I go down next after Heavy flips scum.

 The timeline: First, people make jokes and vote each other, fun stuff. Heavy seems confused by our lack of reasoning to vote, joke votes are explained. This is the first emotionally charged post he makes. DPR, Ithi, and Ed immediately sus him for it, and right after that I say it doesn't seem alignment indicative. These posts are all back to back btw.

I play by evaluating incentive structures. People who are desperate not to die (and who therefore react strongly to suspicion) must have a reason. Wolves are outnumbered, so they have a reason to want to stay alive. So do town with important roles, but those have a way to alleviate suspicion by claiming later if they can't use words to do it.

Dice comes in, drops what looks like a joke vote on Heavy, then post-facto converts it into a real vote. 

 

Ithi then starts the Marsh train. Her reasoning is that I'm defending heavy, which makes me either defending a teammate or white knighting a confused townie. Uses my unvote on Dice as a flawed part of the reasoning. Weird reason to vote me rather than Heavy, who she sussed in the same post, but Ithi is still on level footing reasons wise. It's not motivated reasoning. But what this does is give an opening.

Anyways, I was going to start with that Heavy is heavy on the prose, and yes I do know that very well.

 

But the reaction on my vote was massive. He went from I hate you you wolfy wuffer, to it's not fair you all pick on me, to well I guess this is the way it must be, to I don't care Lynch me anyways. Basically the five stages of grief in like, 3 pages? Wasn't expecting quite so much.

 

Ok back to my attempt to quote stuff from Marsh with his reactions to Heavy. 1st post, says no alignment read on Heavy.  2nd post puts alignment as Mafia 1st but still might be Town. 3rd post unvotes. 4th post Asks Heavy to explain his posts. Mafia who doesn't want to die or Town with important roles.

 

So now I'm thinking. Is Marsh a Mafia who knows Heavy is Town or is Marsh a Mafia who is trying to help out a team mate? 

 

Either way, I now have Marsh as Mafia twice and Heavy only once. Which means, in the What's behind that Door? Game, you always pick the other door.

Don't really like Dice's eliminating for the lols - but again, lols is hardly AI and he has not really taken it anywhere - hasn't manufactured an argument and then doubled down or anything like that.

 

Didn't like Ithi's reasoning for her vote on me - but it was early doors and someone has to make the first real vote. But Ithi is also casting suspicion on nearly everyone that says something - which I would be a lot more suspicious of if I wasn't doing the same thing. So there is that.

 

Ed is poking people but not really contributing, and that pretty much goes for everyone else in terms of solving but at this point I don't think I can argue that it is AI, there has not really been enough activity to hunt for wolves in. Easter weekend and all that. Things should heat up towards DL, though I have seen that unless at least one wolf is actually under suspicion that can hurt rather than help.

At this point, Turin shows up, susses me and Dice for Dice knowing I'm almost a lawyer (?) and tries to give Heavy an out for language barrier. Subtle defense. And of course defending Heavy is sus, is it not?

Lol, that isn't what I was saying either - I was saying that even when I was involved in NAI activities, not trying to cast shade or read or whatever, people were finding me suspicious. And I did wonder about the implications of that outside of the game, but it is hardly relevant here. 

 

Scottish people speak English I should point out here, in case that is a misunderstanding - I'm not a Gael and even they are fully fluent in English. Having to learn another language late in life probably doesn't help, but most of problems come from the fact that my vocabulary soaks up words from a lot of different sources so I am not always sure if I am using words entirely correctly without a dictionary. That probably sounds odd to a lot of people, but that is the way my brain works.

Here's Key's first significant contribution to the game. It begins by laying groundwork to sus me. Essentially, because in my first post about Heavy I didn't think his actions were alignment indicative, I'm defending him. But in the same post Key calls him new town. This is subtle defense by way of deflecting onto the available scapegoat, Ironeyes, who was freshly called out by Ithi, Nyn, and Turin.

Of course I'd be happy to elucidate. I feel you are grabbing at low hanging fruit. Not damning in itself and perhaps not  even AI, but added to your nonchalance about eliminating a town player as necessary collateral, your overplaying the information aspect of my miselimination, it does give me the creeps a bit. Especially as we both know that when mafia, you are the man with the plan from D1. So wolf!Lenlo would be expected to have this kind of plan and given the low activity, low hanging fruit would seem to be the way to go. Not the strongest case ever, no. 

 

But then DPR flies in with a passionate and unnecessary defense. Seems a bit over the top. 

 

Then the half-hearted inclusion but not really of Dice just pinged me. Plus I'm not big on the wrestling posts. Seems semi-likely to be a tell. 

 

I'm also not liking Turin a lot or Ed as Town, and it would be odd that in a few posts the entire team would out themselves. 

 

But that is where my thought processes are.

No, that is not what I said. I'm not pretending to defend Heavy. I was waffling about whether I thought he was mafia or not, which a lot of people (some honestly, some maliciously) interpreted as defense. I landed on scum for him but so has everyone else, so I'm using my vote to make a point before inevitably changing it.
