I havent played enough games with him to have mafia meta on Cairos. Im just reading the Cairos Ive known for years as far as tone goes. Im basically saying if hes town he needs to show it because besides that fake feeling town, he hasnt really dug in to anything other then RTE yet that I can think of.  Theres nothing that makes me go "That sounds town!"

Still bothers me, he and everyone else should know that this was a light read for how early in D1 it was, no one was locking both as villagers, just giving out light reads to get the game going. Yet Verb jumps down my throat about it, votes me, accuses me of going for low hanging fruit and then... Never really pushes me or brings me up again? Keep this in mind, because this lack of any real pushing/casing will be relevant later.

Here we get his first, and only, scum list where he lists me and Zander (This is in the middle of our spat) as wolves. No support, no nothing. Me I get, even if his reasoning is bad at least he has a reason and has voted me. But Zander? He hasn't mentioned anything about him at all, but this list seems to imply we are wolves together. He even later clarifies that he added the ??? because there are 3 scum in the game, so he clearly intends this as a list and not a "One or the other", as shown in the quotes below.

This is where things get interesting. This is his first ping against Zander, his first criticism of Zanders play at all, and it comes after he has added Zander to his scum list. So if this is his first  criticism... Why is Zander on the list? Why is he considering Zander a wolf? Again, me I get, even if he's wrong he has a reason. But here, it's like he just took the two people arguing and said "Screw it, both" and started justifying it after. At best it's lazy town, at worst it's a wolf setting up consecutive mislynch targets.

This is where we see the reasoning behind it and he lays out his plan for lynching either one of us, he doesnt mention a preference but I assume me since he's voting me, would be nice to see him case/try to push it though if he really believed in it. What's weird to me though is that despite listing us both as scum, he makes no mention of actually trying to... catch scum. Only of the information we will get when one of us flips and we can watch the other, mentioning what may happen if scum are only watching everything go down. Which is weird, because he thinks me and/or Zander are scum... right?

 

Ignore the watcher confusion, that gets clarified later and I don't blame him that mistake, clearly a knowledge check that's all.

Even more meta and playstyle talk. He's talked more about meta and playstyle and out of game stuff than the actual game. What little of this game he has talked about, he hasn't backed up or supported in any way. He's still sticking to this Zander/Lenlo/??? team, but he acts as though the only thing we will get out of it is information from the lynch/watcher, not actually catching a wolf, like he doesn't actually expect us to. If he did, why would he not case either of us? Not push our lynch? Hell, why not push my lynch, he's certainly been voting me the entire game since he grabbed that low hanging fruit, but he hasn't pushed or responded to much of what I've said at all since then.

 

All in all, it feels like he's coasting while providing minimum engagement/work and is content to send his vote to what was, at the time, the low hanging fruit.

I personally don't believe in TWTBAW, I think its an excuse often used by people to get out of sticky situations or excuse bad plays.

 

As far as RTE now, prior to rereading, he's the other person on my shortlist atm.  I said it before that I'm a bit biased towards him, as he supported me in our conflict early on, but that could easily have been hedging his bets/buttering me up for when I flipped town. I think us taking a step back, rather than tunneling on each other until the EoD, may have been unexpected for him, because after that is when the vig comment comes out timeline wise I think, and also when he starts to pressure Cairos more.

 

So yeah, I'd rather Verbal over RTE, but I'd be down for either. I'll have deeper thoughts once I reread his stuff

I trust Lenlo because I like the way he plays and his rationale. Verbal is in one of my scum trios and I previously said of those three he was the one I felt scummiest about. I won't change my vote yet but as town I fully intend to try to save myself at deadline and vote someone who, unlike myself, I do not know is town

Do I think Cairos is great? No, not really. And I'll admit I haven't paid as much attention to him as I should have today, being caught up in focusing on Zander/Verbal/Shad. But I have him in a similar camp as Gud atm, which is the "Hasn't really contributed much, but hasn't done anything overtly scummy yet" camp, least in my eyes. Atm I'd rather vote for someone who I legitimately think has a chance to flip wolf and, by virtue of interacting with multiple people, also give us a good amount of information to go off of D2. This also gives Cairos and Gud a chance over the weekend to speak up a bit and do more. If they don't, then yeah, they will move up (Or down I guess?) the wolf list.

I don't see what is wolfy about being annoyed that someone is giving you hard time while your struggling to keep up with Zander's written diarrhea. It hardly makes you lock clear but don't quite see how it makes you the most suspicious person in D1. Been there, done that. 

 

And I don't quite agree with the "let's ignore people we think are likely wolves to lynch someone that isn't trying" argument. That seems to be appealing to undermine people's doubts of everyone to go after someone with an objective, undeniable "flaw". Coming from many's favourite lunch menu, it doesn't ring true to me.

This is where we see the reasoning behind it and he lays out his plan for lynching either one of us, he doesnt mention a preference but I assume me since he's voting me, would be nice to see him case/try to push it though if he really believed in it. What's weird to me though is that despite listing us both as scum, he makes no mention of actually trying to... catch scum. Only of the information we will get when one of us flips and we can watch the other, mentioning what may happen if scum are only watching everything go down. Which is weird, because he thinks me and/or Zander are scum... right?

 

Ignore the watcher confusion, that gets clarified later and I don't blame him that mistake, clearly a knowledge check that's all.

This is actually a good catch, he's not wrong, we've all acknowledged that the RTE vig thing was weird, so good on him.

 

More meta, figuring out the watcher mistake. Only real bit of substance is he mentions only skimming Zander early in games, but again, he has Zander on his scum list with me so... Is he skimming and wolf reading him? Or did he just pick the two people arguing, not care what they were and decide "Information" was the goal?

I moved it into a second spoiler to save space, but man it's just... so much meta/non game talk. Dudes figuring out the watcher role, again, don't blame him for that. But I'd really love to see some casing or pressuring or reinforcing of reads or something. Instead its like hes just coming off busy?

 

 

Brings up the pockets, valid, but again he's considering "If you're town" with Zander, and as we see from the post below that comes after, he's still keeping to his original scum list of me/Zander. What I'm getting at is, I dont think he really believes that list at this point, he only picked the two people butting heads because they were easy/obvious targets, and now it feels like he's kind of hedging his bets.

 

 

Weird hypothetical that he never really gets back to, feels like he's just appearing busy/engaged without really contributing anything. Like what is this for if you're not going to bring it back up/explain why you asked?

Even more meta and playstyle talk. He's talked more about meta and playstyle and out of game stuff than the actual game. What little of this game he has talked about, he hasn't backed up or supported in any way. He's still sticking to this Zander/Lenlo/??? team, but he acts as though the only thing we will get out of it is information from the lynch/watcher, not actually catching a wolf, like he doesn't actually expect us to. If he did, why would he not case either of us? Not push our lynch? Hell, why not push my lynch, he's certainly been voting me the entire game since he grabbed that low hanging fruit, but he hasn't pushed or responded to much of what I've said at all since then.

 

All in all, it feels like he's coasting while providing minimum engagement/work and is content to send his vote to what was, at the time, the low hanging fruit.

Agree with this and in some ways feel at fault because I entertained/continued the meta conversation so it let him continue to post about mafia without posting about this game particularly. Too much nostalgia/talking about mafia for mafia's sake without anything substantive about the current game, especially for such an experienced player who says his own meta is based on evidence etc

And I don't quite agree with the "let's ignore people we think are likely wolves to lynch someone that isn't trying" argument. That seems to be appealing to undermine people's doubts of everyone to go after someone with an objective, undeniable "flaw". Coming from many's favourite lunch menu, it doesn't ring true to me. 

 

Don't really have a read on Cairos apart from he is a bit annoyed. Don't see that as AI.

Ah experienced player shouldn't even be annoyed when someone votes them, especially for something like inactivity/not contributing to the game that they can change. 

 

They then magically found time to post several times, none particularly helpful to the game besides RTE bad.

I know I literally shot myself in the foot but letting people like Cairos (I think at this point the quietest player here) just slip through because they were busy and can only be bothered to post at the one person who voted them is at least giving me a message. 

 

Next game just post less, explain why you're busy due to your important and empathic job, and just keep a low profile and don't engage with anything. That's what I try to do as scum but if I played mafia again then at least Day 1 ill do the same 🤷 there's no repercussions anyways. This was much easier to do too in games with 20+ people.

As opposed to what is the plan when Cairos flips either way that tells us nothing as if he flips town you were only voting for him as he was quiet and a bad player, and if he flips wolf he tells us nothing about any player interactions. For someone who is wanting an informative flip, Cairos seems a bad target.

Shad and Dice have more suspicion and feel less firm town than Zander and to some extent Cass have so far. Also getting rid of a town Cass at this point would hinder a town Zander because I think Zander trusts her now. 

 

To your first point, I'm biased but as town I'd rather lose Cairos who's not playing to me who is playing (albeit not super intelligently at times) if we both are town. The fact that Cairos flip would not help us if they were town is testament to the fact that he hasn't done enough to have meaningful interactions with other players that we can learn anything from. 

 

I also have said that D1 Lynch is largely guesswork so as I said when Zander's posting was all over the place (which actually has drastically improved, thanks Zander, makes playing altogether much easier), getting rid of someone obstructive to town, irrespective of alignment, is still a good outcome for D1 Lynch
