If there are out of game "things" going on, let's not bring them into this game.  I love you all, and want us to get along and have a fun time shooting each other in the face, lol.

This message is for everybody.

Too late

Please, this game has been fine so far, with only minor little issues inherent in all games.  I don't want this to drag the game down.

So, something I've been thinking about. With this setup, town can essentially win in one night if the vigs don't crossfire and all hit scum. While that is not likely, especially N1, I'd like to submit the POTENTIAL IDEA that maybe if a vig plans on taking a shot on any given night, they call it out as to not cross shots with another vig.

Just a thought, and not something I'm saying we need to do......but I'd like to discuss the potential pitfalls and merits.

Still catching up, but I like that. I'm not sure how kills resolve, but at worst, mafia can only stop one of the bugs, and atbest, we win by killing all three in one shot. I agree it's unlikely, but it's possible, especially with the lynch. That gives us 4 chances to kill 3 wolves.

@ben and @hallia who are your top scumspect if any?

Adella and Hallia, but that might change as I continue to catch up or by end of day. Nothing strong from either one, anyway. Strongest feel right now is Verbal as town, but I'm trying to stay fluid in all of my reads.

The way she and I have interacted, I don't see how you say we're a team, please explain

Cloudflared. Didn't post the first time and it gave me a moment to have some coffee and realize that nobody is unaware of DM's policy regarding swearing. Nervous scumposting is what it smells like.

I flirt with the CoC every day, Rand just returned after long hiatus. I disagree with you're vote.

I agree with this statement, but I would like to say that I previously thought that DPR was just beating the grass.  However, his insistence, as I read it at least, as making it a legitimate reason is a little worrying,  because its honestly a bs point, and he's good enough to know that.  Hell, even anyone who plays here and at JN frequently probably has had moments where they forget about the CoC, or its specifications.

The problem is, you've just returned from a break - tight? How long have you been away? Been awhile, right? So, forgetting things would be fine, but you seem to have an amazing memory when it comes to things like Verb's play style, which you've commented on several times as being "normal". How do you remember Verb's "normal" play style, but you forgot the rule about swearing on a PG-13 site?

Nervous chatter is what it sounds like. Trying to fit in when you're rusty.

3ish years iirc, but here's the thing, I didn't forget the rule.  You keep saying that I forgot the rule, which is honestly starting to look like purposeful misdirection on your part.  Here's the direct quote of what I said.

"Hehe I know, but I forgot what this sub's rules on swearing was and too much time on Reddit has made me loosen up, so I'm remaining ultra conservative for now :P"

I remembered that there was a rule on swearing, I just didn't remember what the extent of the rule was.  Its much easier to remember someone's personality who you interacted with for years, then the extent of a rule that you previously didn't have to worry about as much as I do now, just because I didn't even swear that much then.

Idk what it is, but there's something about Verbal's reaction to being voted that seems over the top to me. It almost reminds me of Zander's reactions to the slightest bit of doubt and pressure. I suppose it could be from coming off of another game just recently though.

I've seen people do this to Verb a bunch of times. He's reacting the same way pretty much that he always does, I don't see any overreaction here. *Yours* on the other hand though, does seem a bit much, I don't see what he did to annoy you.

General agreement here.

Anyone else feeling like Verb and Sooh distancing here?

I literally almost forgot about distancing as a concept haha, and I think I've played in a few games where an overemotional argument is used as distancing between teammates.  However, my read as Verbal acting like normal (which I agree with you on) makes this seem less likely, because if Verbal was trying to force an emotional argument, I feel like it would seem more.. well, forced.

Forgets about distancing. Remembers normal play from Verbal.

How much did you play with Verbal? How long ago was that? What else would you consider normal from Verbal, just so we can be on the lookout?

I played/interacted with Verbal for a few years iirc, long enough to remember.  There are also some distinct personalities that I remember better than others because they definitely stood out.

Why are you so sassy coming out of the gate? Serious asking.

Because I think your prod at Rand is garbage. You've cussed in thread. I've cussed in thread. We all have. Which makes your case on Rand junk.

Also, it was a million degrees on the roof today. I'm low man on the totem pole, so I don't get to release my frustration at work. I have to take all the crap with a smile and a thank you. You all ain't so lucky. Heavy metal isn't doing the venting trick it normally does.

Basically same thing I said above, p sure all of have had slip ups or near slip ups with the CoC

Not sure how this works? Slip-ups, blatant disregard, whatever you want to call it... what does nervous chatter have to do with following the CoC? The point has nothing to do with that?

The entire premise of your one point is that I should remember the CoC, this is exactly related to that.  You even pointed out in the previous section which I quoted how you were skeptical of me remembering Verb's play style, but forgetting the CoC.  Your ability to contradict yourself within the same post is truly remarkable.

It's more "post what catches my attention ATM" kinda list. I'm on mobile. It's the only way I can do this. I'm fixing to recap and post a reads list, after I finish this forty. And mebbe cook up a pot pie.

So it's the Verb school of "I'm serious, except when I'm not serious and I go with what catches my eye. Wink" school of thought.

Awesome.

After you and Marie Callander get it together, come back and try to make sense.

What makes you think that I'm not serious about what catches my eye? Adella pings me hardest, not you. I was leaning town for you, hence why I said the " vig kill" comment. Or did you forget game setup?

What exactly is your problem with me? Is Adella your scum mate? Did I guess a little too close to home for you?

Is this a legitimate accusation?

No. Belligerent yes. bullheaded, yes. I feel him to be a vig, being antagonistic so he can decide where to place his kill.

That's my DPR read.

Adella top scum lean.

Hallia, second scum lean.

Rand - strongest town read. I agree with his thought process concerning Adella and Hallia. As I showed above ^.

Verbal - second town read. His play feels natural, unforced. He's handled himself well under pressure thus far. More of a gut read.

Nyn- town lean. Again, more of a gut read. Could be wrong.

Sooh- confused. Still pondering. Not null, but haven't decided.

The rest of y'all are null.

Now my pot pie is done. Stupid eight minute cook time. (So worth it). It's time to feast.

Why do accept complete crap from Verb? "I'm not serious, but maybe I am. But I'm not. I'll tell you later."?  That's not play - that's garbage. Not town.

We expect that form Rand, but not Verb. And not you.

Also no offense DPR, but if you're being serious about your "no way someone forgets the CoC" case on me, then you have 0 room to talk about accepting complete crap.  On top of that, for me at least, my town read on Verbal is based on behavior similar to his normal, where he does mess around like that, and as I mentioned before, in this type of game setup, where there's a lot of killing power on both sides, there are reasons to keep some things to yourself in the short term.

I have "0 room" because I noticed you have a selective memory? LOL

Also, and this is interesting, I've bolded the line above. It's been my experience that players returning after a long hiatus take a minute to get used to "clearing town" vs. the old school "scum hunting". But you make it look so easy...

1. How long you been away again?

2. Tell us a bit more about normal play form Verbal - can you name some other normal Verbal traits?

And last - this is a basic game. There isn't "a lot of killing power on both sides", According to the open setup, I don't remember seeing any town roles either, so please explain again your reason for defending Verbal not explaining himself?

Everyone has selective memory, that's how it works lol.  The CoC isn't something that I interacted with,or really had problems with or had to worry about most of the time.  On the other hand, my interactions with Verbal were much more common.

I've been away for 3 years, but I've also played on epicmafia a bit since then, and I've played mafia in person with my family a lot.  Maybe I'm just better than you think ;). Also, I've been scum hunting as well, note my case on Adella.  Which, and I know this may be hard for you to understand, contains more than one point :P

And normal play for Verbal? Beating the grass with comments like the one on Ben or on his train, but taking more seriously the reactions to his beating the grass then the actual thing that started beating the grass.  Basically, get rxns, analyze rxns.

And I'm not going to respond to the last point because you admitted you were wrong about that one.

>My case against Adella which won't fit here

Welp, it was the second time I had said "*popcorn*" in this game, I'm not sure why one is ok and the other is not, but you weren't bothered by the first or I'm sure you would have pointed it out with almost every other post I have made in this game  I'm flattered by the attention though.

The point isn't that you said "popcorn", at all.  The point is that you essentially fence sat/egged on Verbal's comment on Ben to make it seem bigger than it really was.  Hally did it too, and I did address that.

But Verbal fence sitting and egging on is normal. Okay. LOL

I'm interested in this, where do you see Verbal fence sitting and egging on?  He's been making his own cases and reads so far, more than most, though I will say that the one thing you've done this game is make original reads, faulty as they may be.

I've seen so many logic lapses from dpr last game as town that i realized it's not really a paramater i should be using reading him anymore. Funny but true.

Lol, I still remember when i was a newb and DPR was the mafia god who never had time to play with us, so I have these high expectations from him :P

LOL

Don't ruin this for me bruh ;)

And I'm not trying to be mean or anything. Dpr is aware of our disagreements. I lynched him last game and was wrong cause i refused to believe he would be sticking up to certain points he was making. All disagreements aside, i dont want to risk doing that again. So we'll see. Plus he hasnt really done enough to be properly assessed anyhow.

Oh, I'm aware - you and tweedle dummer almost lost the game because tin foil. Good times.

Giving the pirate a hard time is also a personal hobby I've been cultivating. ;-)

Lucky me.

On the plus side, it does give you something to do other than getting into full-emo tifts with others and almost getting banned every game. So there's that.

* I'm obviously in blue.

And me in green

Shitsure - I don't have anyone I think is guaranteed scum, or even LIKELY to be. I have a few people I feel pretty strongly aren't (Verb, Rand) and a few I'm less confident on (Nyn, Ben, maybe LZM?).

Everyone else is fair game at this point.

@ben and @hallia who are your top scumspect if any?

At the moment I'd say -

Nyn is. Because I've played many games with her, and her tone is dead on her scum one where's she is largely facetious, and kinda snappy. When she's town she tends to be more serious irt game play. That's my gut feels atm.

I don't remember the last time I played eith Nyn as scum, but this seems awful. Where have you seen her be that way in past scum games? And when hasn't she been snippy as town?

I remember one game she was heavily suspected as scum (and she was), because she was being too friendly and fun. She wasn't being aggressive. I'm not prepared to say that she's a raging psychopath as town and Mother Theresa as scum, but snippy and sarcastic is not a scumtell for her at all IMO

DPR - I don't understand how your point about Rand is scummy at all. I've played with the guy, so it's not like he hasn't been around for a decade, and even if he had...so what?

Caught up, or at least read up. Massive head ache this morning.

Still not liking Adella's posting, and her explaining better than Hallia is only a very minor point in her favor I feel, because I think she would be good at explaining herself even as scum.

Feeling pretty good about LZM and Nyn so far. Probably also Verb. Neutral on pretty much everyone else, though I will say that that mess which was a DPR post above here in blue is making me think he's towny.

Unfortunately this makes me feel even less good about Sooh. I want you to be town so bad! Idk if that is happening here...

Felt the same way. TownSooh provides teh reasons, no?

So, something I've been thinking about. With this setup, town can essentially win in one night if the vigs don't crossfire and all hit scum. While that is not likely, especially N1, I'd like to submit the POTENTIAL IDEA that maybe if a vig plans on taking a shot on any given night, they call it out as to not cross shots with another vig.

Just a thought, and not something I'm saying we need to do......but I'd like to discuss the potential pitfalls and merits.

That's an awesome way to get the Vigs killed or for mafia to cover their tracks by claiming vig.

Once a vig shoots, they are VT anyway.  I'm saying call your shots so we don't have vig #1 and vig #2 both shooting the same person.  If that person was mafia, then we wasted a vig shot.  If there were 2 townies, then I'd agree calling the shot was a bad idea as we then effectively save a townie by allowing a vig to make a mistake and not get penalized for it.

C'mon folks, look deeper into the idea.

Remember how you almost lost last game for Town? Yeah, let's not do a mass Vig reveal on D1. Kthanx.

Please read the posts, Wes.  You're harping on INCORRECT INFORMATION.  Good God I even bolded it for you.  Like, I know you want to just tunnel on me and refute every post I make, but please just read posts before firing back.  I said "if a vig plans on taking a shot, call your shot so other vigs don't cross-fire".

I then asked for discussion on the pros and cons - I did not say we should do this.  Again, I spelled that out as well.

At this point, your entire premise this game is borderline absurd.  Stop cherry picking what you want out of my posts and read the whole damn thing.  And last game?  You, a VT, tunneled on my Miller claim all game.  Town believed me, you didn't, and you made it a distraction the entire time......so much so that we needed to lynch you just to stop the madness.  Then Nyn and I proceeded to just win the game.

Look, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to question why you're encouraging vig talk on D1. You can say it's to prevent crossfire, but are you really that concerned with everybody shooting N1? Seems like they'd want to wait until they had at least a little info to go on before wasting those shots?  On the other hand, by getting the conversation going, it turns into a fishing expedition and a sharp eye might be able to pick a vig off. If that vig holsters, we'll lose the shot.

Me, I'm for trusting the shooters. Everybody here knows how to play the game.

And I'll bet that even you can admit that the setup last game was one of the scum heaviest ever. Miller is a great claim to hide under as scum and by endgame, there was no reason whatsoever to think that a Miller was included.

Lol, I still remember when i was a newb and DPR was the mafia god who never had time to play with us, so I have these high expectations from him :P

Apparently old age has gotten to him.  Remember how Myndrunner used to come in, say a bunch of random stuff, and then sit back like it was some divine proclamation of greatness?

Yeah.....I think Mynd & DPR are related.

btw I love both guys and think they are both great mafia players, but ffs they can drive a person mad with how little sense they make sometimes, lol

Yessss, Mynd def did that, lolol good times.  Does he still play here?

Just a thought, and not something I'm saying we need to do......but I'd like to discuss the potential pitfalls and merits.

I don't like this idea at the beginning, because I think it hurts us down the road.  Sure it'll be great in the beginning when we have a vig claim and shoot someone, and tell us who, and they get confirmed after the night, but mafia'll just kill them and then we start running out of "confirmed" vigs.  I think we should wait to use our 3 shots until its more necessary and we have more information on who we should use the shots on.  I do think that we should have an unofficial vote for who we should vig shot when we get to that point though.

So, something I've been thinking about. With this setup, town can essentially win in one night if the vigs don't crossfire and all hit scum. Agreed with this as well, and damn stop making good points like this pls so my read on you isn't confused, kthxbye.

Crossfire is good if one's wrong, though.

This is also a good point, though in theory, wasting one of our shots is never a good idea, though it can have good consequences.  I like Verb's idea of trying to conserve shots, but I think that's only something we should worry about if we think its a problem in the current situation.

It's also an awesome way to out all of the Vig's for NK's and waste shots.

Prolly better if we wait past D1 and try to narrow down that pool just a little.

Agreed here as well.

Honestly LZM, you're playing consistent with how you've played lately, so I think this tunnel on me is probably an indication that you're town. I just want to point out that I don't think any of your tunnels have worked well for you lately, so please try to keep an open mind throughout this game. Something someone says can ping you one way or another, but we need to look at the big picture and players as a whole.

Personally, I'm much quicker to name someone town than I am scum, considering only 25% of the players are scum, it's my favorite part of the new playstyle.

However, if I had to choose, right now I would say scum is likely Sooh, because of her very strong reactions. Hallia, for the reasons others have pointed out, she hasn't posted any of her own thoughts but has been around quite a bit. And I'm thinking Rand for the third, but that honestly is a bit tainted by some OMGUS. It can't be that tainted though, cause LZM doesn't seem scummy for voting for me. I think it's how he is claiming Hallia has had more content than I have, even though she and I have talked about the same things and my thoughts are much more detailed and fleshed out, I have answered questions, and even repeated myself to some who seemed to ask questions that I have already explained, in the interest of being open and honest a town.

The bolded

Nyn has said that. Not me.

Sorry, that bit you bolded was actually about Rand not you.

Did I really say that?  If so, I believe I've corrected myself, I did say I appreciated the way you were giving explanations for your actions.

Page 18, I actually like Rand's posts here

Unvote

Aww thanks, unfortunately I can't say I have a town read on you as of right now :/ Pls post more haha, and Adella kinda does have a point, some more substance from you would be nice

Anyone else care that after a long hiatus, Rand has switched to town clearing vs. scum hunting?

Iirc, and since I'm talking about myself I feel like I do haha, but I did this a lot in previous games too, where I'd have town reads, scum reads, and null reads.  I actually remember making lists that did a ranking order from most townie to most scummy (actually something I was going to do when I got the time)

@ben and @hallia who are your top scumspect if any?

Hally, this really does look like OMGUS.  Iirc Nyn correctly, this is fairly standard to her personality regardless of alignment.  And its not like she hasn't made game contributions as well.

Anyone else care that after a long hiatus, Rand has switched to town clearing vs. scum hunting?

To be honest, I think I like his newer posting.

Aww thanks haha, I think lol, but wait but I'm honestly curious, what have I changed?

Initially I was going to call you out here on being too reactionary because all DPR did was discuss it, but I can see how his last comment you quoted here comes off more as don't be dumb why'd you suggest this instead of normal discussion about it.

That being said, I think most of us agree that it wouldn't be the best idea, especially not right now.

If there are out of game "things" going on, let's not bring them into this game.  I love you all, and want us to get along and have a fun time shooting each other in the face, lol.

This message is for everybody.

Also a friendly reminder: This is a game so have fun, and play nice. Seriously, be kind to one another.

<3 both of you guys, 100% agreed

Not gonna lie Rand, that post is hard to read on mobile

:/ Sorry, do the colors not show up well? I rarely browse DM from mobile, especially when its mafia related.

Posted

Also, fwiw, I think Verbal is right about the vig shot claiming. Yes, mafia CAN claim their NK and try to pass it off as a vig...at the expense of potentially outing themselves and taking a suboptimal nk.

As many times as we have been Hydra together, I'm confident in my read.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about and if you're town? Then you have clearly learned nothing via hydraing with me.

You have town read me every single game we've played together, regardless of your alignment and I think it's pretty obvious why you're choosing to scum read me this game.

Have you two been hyraed as mafia recently? I remember despos abba game, but that was three years ago.
