  1. What do you guys think of Meera Syal as Verin Mathwin ?

I love the actor and she's been my headcanon for last few years now. I don't know how I connected her with Verin, but i think i saw some speculation online and as soon as I saw her I was sold. To me she is the perfect blend of motherly(remember the guy who told her eyes reminded him of his mother 😅?) and mysterious.

Also, as I have been picturing Shohreh as Cadsuane, and as they're both from Far Madding, picturing another brown woman as Verin made sense to me. It has been a delight to see her and Tomas on screen, however short a time 🙄 (thanks Rafe, not).

What do you think of her as Verin?

Don't get me wrong, she'll be excellent playing any character, but she's been such a fan-favourite for the role of Cads for so many years, to the point where she even approached Rafe about it. Why not just go with that flow??

I am sorry, Mother, but I have to say this: because he just doesn't care what the fans think. He has his own idea(interpretation) of the story, good for him, everyone does. And only his interpretation matters. Even something small like listening to the fan casting esp when even the actor is on board. It is because we reached out to her, we made so much noise about it that even Shohreh noticed, and reached out to Him. Not the other way around. That's all i will say.

Anyone can play Elaida do Avriny a'Roihan. I am of the belief that they should just merge Liandrin and Elaida together. Kate Fleetwood did such a good job with this character it would've been nice to see her raised to the Chair. They've already given her a story to fit it. 🤷🏽‍♀️

pandering to a demographic and anyone who disagrees with you is part of that demographic and hence unreliable.

Your position is factually incorrect. And the way you treat people who disagree with you is unpleasant.

@HeavyHalfMoonBlade agree with you, as always. ❤️

Being brown, female, muslim, and gay _ i would say they are pendering to my demographic. But do i like it? Nope, i find it ridiculous to uplift one demographic by tearing down others. This is not growth, this is stupidity and it is bound to fall on it's faces. You can quote me on that.

This is my 2 cents. No one needs to agree with me. don't quote me. I don't need to be told how the world is like.

We are talking fantasy people. It doesn't need the real world pushed in, or made into the world we live in. Especially when you are in the business of escapism.

RJ made a world where color of your skin doesn’t matter. Everyone is the same from Saldaea to Mayene(you see what I did there? 😉🤭) Nor does it matter who you sleep with or love. He made men and women equal but different, and each with unique and different characteristics. which is normal!!!!!

I like the show,i do, i would watch anything that brings these characters I have loved for so long to life. I just don't like their agenda, and disregard for the literary world RJ created. Flaw and all it's His story, not yours. Be respectful 🙏 that's all I ask.

  4. This is literally an appreciation post: for Ceara Coveney.

I just love her as Elayne. Elayne Trakand is my favorite (very closely followed by Aviendha) among the inner circle, of course after the five. So to have an actor who literally embodied her, in mannerism and looks, just makes me so happy.

And Ceara's accent is just as Michael voices Elayne in those rare Mat povs interacting with the Elayne (bloody daughter-heir). I mean Kate does a more subtle job at switching accent when it comes to voicing the girls. But every time I hear Elayne from Mat's PoV, it always made me chuckle. And Ceara Coveney's accent is very reminiscence of that

Also let's give the casting people a shout out, they have done a bang on with most of the casting choices.

    supernatural being

It was probably Demandred. Because I don't see Moradin doing that not at that stage. The Nae'blis had better thing to do. I know, I knowwww, Issy is the king of dream shards, but i think, and it is my headcanon that being of light was Demandred.

It is shown from Masema's pov right before perrin's battle with shaido.

  6. So, just rereading the part when Perrin finally meets up with The Prophet of Dragon. I am finding it more interesting now that in the show they've established Meshima has a  relationship(kinship) with Perrin, as they've both survived Seanchen/Falme together. Edit: I know in the books they spend time, I didn't say they didn't, but it was very antagonistic. In the show they showed even if they are not "friends" they did work together and develop a kinship.

It really would be interesting to see Perrin meeting Mashema again when he is sent to Ghaeladan to deal with the Prophet.

And Meshima not really been in the journey with Rand and hating him all the way.

In the show the awe in his face of seeing Rand, it makes more sense for him to worship the Lord Dragon the way he does, than the book.

What do you think, did the show make this dynamic more plausible?

  7. @Ralph i am not sure i havent watched season one since mid this year, so it might look different to me or maybe i am not remembering it correctly.

But i heard Daniel green saying in one if his video they've edited the episode after Nynaeve's test. So if they are doing for the current season, they will definitely take advantage of steaming and edit things for the last season.

I watched winternight on Friday and it looked different to me. I swear they didn't have some of the lines when i watched it last time. Most prevalent when you see the fight scene with trollocs. 🤷🏽‍♀️

It looks like there were 3 POV by RJ (1x CoT and 2x KoD assuming the Wiki isn't in error) . Also, I'm surprised someone diligently wiki-ed POVs (fan award to that person (https://wot.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Point_of_View_Characters). :

I completely understand - I do like their relationship as I said. But would have loved it even more if it didn't have the baggage of the change in tone.

I will pay more attention to the change in tone you've  mentioned, on my read this time around. Crossroads & Knife is just one book away.

Also, I just noticed the fandom kinda hates(maybe too stronge a word, dislike maybe more appropriate) these books between Chaos and Knife. But honestly love really love them, and their details. I like the slow burn, always liked it, so I guess I am uniquely attuned to reading WoT. 😅

I apologize  i keep forgetting Krife and crossroads.

Yes, I am pretty sure that is correct.

It could be only 1 PoV. The scenes I sort of recall are Pevara interacting with Tarna on Tarna's return from Salidar. Then later the Highest (forgot her name). And later one with Yukiri as they were trying to be discrete (though maybe that was Yukiri's point of view).

I know it is correct. I am looking at it right now.

And First of all the highest is Tsutama at this point when elida was in charge.

I am re-reading Path at the moment, so I had the book handy, so on chapter 26, i was rigjt you see Pevare from Searins we do not get ANY Pevare PoV till Brando Sando took over.

I remember struggling with Pevara's change of tone from RJ to BS

So, i think you were mistaken about the fact that she her tone changed in the transition from RJ to Brando. Because it is literally the difference between how people see Pevare as opposed to how Pevara really is... thats my 2 cents.

Also, I am sorry, but I completely disagree with you on someone else playing androls love interest. They are my favorite Aes'Sedai/Ashaman couple. And i don't think they would've worked without either of them and their personalities. Pevara's life experience made her uniquely capable to understand and handle someone like Androl.

She was stonger than the rest of these Aes'Sedai in BT. Probably the strongest i think. I am getting shivers just thinking about her "turning"..

think she only had 1 or 2 POV with RJ, but I quite liked her POV - I can remember one with her meeting with the Highest. The other... hmmm might be Seaine's POV

The first time you see Pevara is from Seaine's PoV and it was as early as book 7. (I literally just finished rereading 7) Almost at the end of the book. And she shows up maybe few times (but from Seaine's and maybe Searin's pov but she only had one pov in RJs book herself.

Take Pevara, who as a Red Sitter the story would have us believe should be the next thing to Darkfriend, should hate all non-Red sisters, and should be obsessed with power over every other concern. But we see a principled, determined, honourable, funny woman.

Sorry, should have mentioned my Pevara.

How did i forget her, (and my androl)

I love her and whatever she is about. Honor,  sacrifice, and determination is what she is made of ("the stuff" I mentioned in my original post). Her and her little group of detectives 🕵️♀️( monster hunters in my opinion), were my only hope for any future of the tower Aes'Sedai. Or any respect I will have for them in the future.

And SILVIANA. Can't forget the mistress of pure couage and not-giving-a-rats-ass-about-your-ignorance. They are the reasons I might reconsider my stance on the Aes'Sedai(saying it like the way Kate says it for Aeron, check it out  chapeter 1 of path of dagger, verins pov) 🤣🤣

I think these are not contradictory, but are fluid for what the story is trying to show. And very often the story is holding them up to contrast against the "noble savages" of the Aiel, or Egwene's strength of purpose, or Rand's sacrifice.

Also, I do agree with your pov of the Aes'Sedai, completely. Again i just expected more than the back stabbing bunch they become sometimes.

A strong character is a character with a clear personality, background, hopes and dreams, flaws and limitations to overcome, things to learn, relationships to have, screw up, and then mend again, or not, and so on. Rand grows the most out of any character I've ever come across in fiction. It's always clear why he does what he does, why he feels what he feels. He is the ultimate farmboy-to-demigod, rags-to-riches character, while coping with depression, madness, paranoia and immense pressure of the fate of the world and mankind being on his shoulders.

    THISSSSSS,  THANKS 😊 🙌👏
