  1. Alright, I know folks have STRONG opinions on this episode. I reacted badly to it as well, though I might give it another watch to see if I change my mind. But an entire thread of “I hate this!” is really boring to read. Let’s consider our spleens vented. If you have something to say besides “this sucks!” please say it. But if that’s all you’ve got right now, then maybe go find something else to do today?

It's almost as if the war of shadow never happened that LTT went to the bore randomly to try his luck out of hubris. Because the world outside of the window didn't seem like the last days of a deadly and destructive war.

"doesnt' give ......the stature he deserved" sums up the whole series

Yeah, I noticed that change too. So now it’s just an act of normal hubris instead of a desperate last gamble.

    Well for the biggest things:

I don't think Moiraine is stilled just shielded from the power with the shield tied off. There was clearly a shield going inside her and Ishamael's hand movement made me think he was tying off a knot.

They're 100% baiting with the Loial death right? I think Hammad is filming for season 2 anyway, and they didn't show him actually die just get stabbed. Think Uno lives as well.

Egwene/Nyneave I don't know what in the world that is. I assume Nyneave was near death but not dead because there's no way they're allowing death to actually be healed.

There's a lot of changes from the book but that was rather expected all things considered. Ishamael was fantastic in my opinion. LTT not so much. I don't get the switch in roles between him and Latra Posae Decume. It doesn't matter much I just feels like it doesn't give LTT the stature he deserved.

Yeah, loved the cold open and all the Old Tongue dialogue. Ishy was fantastic and I loved that his weapon was temptation not a One Power smack down. And Rand rejected his “perfect” world because he knew that’s not what Egwene wanted.

Didn’t like Amalisa going super saiyan like that. I would not give a half trained channeler like her control of a circle. That’s what happens when you don’t know what you are doing!

Are you seriously suggesting he is “ruining” Wheel of Time in a Rockefeller vs. Carnegie style tit for tat?…or is this a joke? I can’t tell. Historically there is precedence for rich people doing petty stuff like this, like Rockefeller buying an ore mine and undercutting steel prices to prove a point to Carnegie. So, yeah, does happen. I can’t remember which of the two didn’t drink but the other would send a bottle of Scotch as a dig against them, and the other would send a “poor man’s” waistcoat to remind the other of their modest beginnings; But I want receipts for this if you mean it. Show me the CarFax.

    Pretty sure he’s joking.

You have all forgotten the most important rule

Never get involved in a land war in Asia

Not sure the Aes Sedai by themselves could have made much of a dent in the world wide food production Eladias suggestion for Elayne to pick the one farm she could do the same for probably means that she could not manage many (she was also I think considered strong in the power) and with less than 1000 Aes Sedai at the start of the books thats not massive coverage.

The Aes Sedai seem to be allergic to anything that reveals the limitations of their power. The Tower prefers that everyone believe they allowed Malkier to fall rather than know they tried to help but failed to get there in time. So I think you are correct. Elaida would rather not help any farmers rather than reveal that she could only help one. Making flowers bloom out of season makes her look cool and mysterious though, so she’s all over that. I don’t think this failing is unique to Elaida. I think this is the mindset the Tower encourages.

    Slightly off topic

It always irritated me that there was no ajah for the natural world - like a crop/animal husbandry/soil management ajah. In the WoT agrarian world, it would be VERY necessary and useful to get some help with all things farming and farm land related.

I mean, do we really need blue AND gray? And who really needs the white?

It’s probably because the Aes Sedai are so removed from the day to day concerns of the world. They are discouraged from using the Power for mundane chores, so it stands to reason they don’t consider using it to grow crops or improve farming. Elaida uses her ability to grow roses in winter and acts like it would be ridiculous to help a farmer.

  7. If they decide to include it, then that would be an interesting way to parallel the two events. The way Jordan handled the repeated sexual trauma ps of Morgase was very delicate and sensitive. It’s very clear that Jordan understood how traumatic rape is. However, since afterwards Mat thinks fondly of Tylin and even goes out of his way to avenge her murder, I don’t think they would do that. Jordan was definitely of the school of thought that men can’t be assaulted and Mat’s characterization reflects that erroneous belief. We have a different sensibility now and the show will have to reflect that if they decide to include Mat/Tylin.
