I think Darthe is acting sketchy. And not in what I expect from sketchy town Darthe, but I only have two games to go off of in terms of meta.

As I pointed out to Sooh, he hasn't answered the question I posed to him three times now about why he was questioning BFG on whether or not she's serious this early in a game when he's played games (I assume multiple) with her before and should have a sense of her meta.

I think Darthe is playing it safe, and that doesn't seem like what I expect from town Darthe.

I find it strange that you say Darthe is playing it safe, since he's acting completely unlike himself and that's likely to get him lynched. Granted, he's likely to get lynched no matter what he does because he's a skilled player and that makes people nervous. But I think there are a lot better reasons to be suspicious of him than thinking he's acting too cautious.
I've played two games with Darthe. The first game I was the doc, and he annoyed me D1, but he did enough during the day to make me think he was town and I protected him that night, saving him from a mafia kill. He then went on to tilt two town players so hard the next day that he wound up getting himself and one of them modkilled and the other one lynched.

Second game I played with him, I was scum and he was town. He pushed hard and got a townie mislynched, in part based on some theory about the townie's use of punctuation in his post.

I most certainly do not want to see him replicate THAT kind of play this game. However, what I expect from town!Darthe is an interest in pushing and solving things -whether I agree with how he's going about it or not.

And for the record, he was targeted for nightkills, not lynched in both the games that I played with him. He was never a lynch ta

rget as far as I recall. I don't see why being a skilled player would make him a target for lynching over nightkill, and I really don't see that he has demonstrated any of that supposed skill so far this game.

I've never seen him play scum, I'm assuming you have. So what would you expect from scum!Darthe given that you acknowledge that he's not acting like his usual town!Darthe.

Now I haven't played with scum!Derf in a long time but going out on a limb I'd expect more manipulation, trying to set townies against each other. So far he hasn't done much besides channel a shocking amount of Zander

How is anything Darthe has done so far similar to Zander?

It took three times to put the O in this time.  I don't know why, but I'm really struggling with that.  Next time, I'm leaving the typo and taking the ban.

Also if you two get into it and start crashing and burning the thread, I'm going to policy lynch you both

Liked this at the time (still do) and although it's an easy stance to take as mafia it's maybe worth noting that Alanna steered clear of all the Matrix 'stuff' (although that may not be a fair comparison) and also that Alanna keeps saying to ignore all the old games

Regardless of whether it means much I appreciate the post and not taking sides is a small good look for this stage of the game

what matrix stuff?

Sooh I only have the avatar for the Green's Halloween event, will probably get rid of it after that

Lol if you missed it don't sweat it

For this game I'll leave it as alignment neutral and just say that I appreciated it

Won't lie the lack of follow up to this pings a little (or at least I don't remember any)

Good morning! Just catching up, trying to decide where to place my vote. My head says vote Prallia, but my gut says vote Alanna. In the mean time I'll respond to a few posts I saved up and hope that the process of writing helps me clear up my confusion.

i have some trouble believing that Ironeyes' progression on me is

"Him proclaiming he's town pinged me" to

"But people said that's normal" to reading someone saying:

"Well we can't lynch him d1"

and goes "well, I like this plan!"

My progression on you doesn't make sense because I can't figure you out. I play stream-of-consiousness, so I type things as they come to my head. It ends up getting me accused of being inconsistent all the time, and that's because I am inconsistent. Right at this moment I'm leaning town on you because I like what you posted during your catch up, but as alwasy my opinions are subject to change without notice.

Skimmed through the game. Quick thoughts.

Not many votes even though it is the end of the day. It is apparent that the scum is kind of playing it safe or trying to push a last minute lynch.

BFG, Nyn, Darthe look fine overall. Don't see anything that stands out.

Alanna seems straightforward - which actually worries me. I usually see her scummy each and every game and that is not very apparent here. Need to see how she votes.

Sooh and kat are slightly pinging. Nothing surprising in that.

Not played with Liz and not sure what to make of her posts. Seems townie overall. Like her early vote to Darthe though - more coming from town than a scummy push.

Ironeyes - don't recollect him make detailed lists like he has done in this game. Could be due to trying to make himself look active.

Hallia is obviously townie. Well duh.

I think there are few votes because there are few solid convictions among us other than a few that are now consensus town.

For your thing about me making lists, I offer BFG's comment below and I invite you to check out Tarmon Gaidon. I made lots of lists there. It's usually just my way of straightening out my thoughts and putting them out for people to comment on. Even if the list is crap it can help me mentally and help start some conversation during a lull in the game.

Ironeyes has made lists before they're usually more 'alignment' opinion in them, but that could be a factor of the game being the way it is

Right now the biggest thing for me is Ironeyes focus on Alanna, while Liz might have spent more time talking to/pushing Darthe it was all direct. Ironeyes is hyper aware of the way Alanna's being read by other people in a way that seems unnatural(?) given his read on her is slight townish

I just don't really have a clue what it means

My focus on Alanna was at the time because I had paid the most attention to her. Partially because she had drawn attention to me, partially because I was trying to figure her out. I'm still having a hard time deciding what I think. My brain says towny, but my gut says scummy. Hence my read averages out to slightly townish because I usually try to trust my brain more than my gut, but in truth she's a null for me.

Hi guys. I'm catching up on the last 12 or so pages. Just to let you know, my previous wim high from the MU game took kind of a beating last night as I was having an episode of really really low self confidence which kept me up most of the night, so now I'm tired and kinda sad and annoyed at myself for letting things get to me. I'll do my best as is, I promise.

Your best is all you need! If it helps I think you're awesome and you don't deserve to think lowly of yourself.

And all those "I love Darthe, ask me why?" bumper sticker posts. I dunno. The way he was talking about how valuable Darthe is and all those ego strokes made me want to hand them an oil massage bottle and flee . Granted there was a pity party vibe going on that kind of confounded me... but that whole time I was like..... well I think the gif I posted pretty much summed it up.

I was just trying to pump him up. He got all moody after being ganged up on last game and it just hurts me to see people that way.

I was referring to his string of increasingly hyper posts near the beginning of the game. It was a little more spammy than I expected from Darthe. The Zander comment was a joke about that.

@Alanna, this is the exchange I was asking you about last night.

okay....

I guess I'll just wait for Darthe to show up and OMGUS me then

giphy.gif

Why Darthe? Why would he vote for you?

So my question last night was, why would you ask me why I thought that he would vote for me when I clearly (albeit jokingly) said I was waiting for him to OMGUS, which is the term that made you think I was saying he'd vote for me.

Catching up now...

So I want to vote Alanna because she just feels off, even though I can't explain it. But I think I should vote Prallia because Hallia also feels off and Pral's little "why me" pings me hardcore. I think I'll go with my head for now and vote Prallia. But we still have like two hours till the deadline, something could change.

Darthe's faux pop-psychology is the dominant trait of his game; as he a wolf he's a droning psychiatrist; as a villager he's the patient in the chair

This made me giggle and nod a bit. I'm not sure how true it is, but it certainly would be fun to look for.

Idk why so many are saying that there are several people who haven't checked in. Afaik every slot but Csarmi has been in the thread so far. I suppose it could be because they haven't had much presence in the thread so far?

It feels too soon to have any real feelings about people in the thread, but I think already BFG is posting enough to possibly be town. On the other hand there's Alanna who feels way too serious way too soon. I know she asked Ironeyes what he thought about someone being serious in their first post, and I wanted to let him respond before saying it's slightly wolfy and pingy to me.

Not sure if I'm buying this Poot

we might need to go fisticuffs soon

Buy it or don't. It was what I felt at the time.

Thats the tough thing about mafia.  Until we all contribute wolves have no incentive to participate and townies have no incentive to suspect.  Theres this gap between silence and dominating conversation where you effectively harm yourself by saying more.  You're not wrong that I am not one to sit back and wait, but at the same time I'm not one to stick my neck out without any reason.

This response makes no sense to me. Which, if I follow the rubric of your friends, suggests that you're probably town. *slightly being sarcastic here*

Can you explain to me how helping your team achieve its wincon isn't incentive enough to stick out your neck if you're town?

Liz read is because she seems more focused than I remember her being as mafia? In that game she spent a lot of time chasing people that weren't suspects and didn't have 'time' to resolve her suspect Day 1. Her Darthe tunnel rubs a little, but I can see her points and she's actively working to resolve him. I can't say the previous game is necessarily representative of her mafia game, but I think I see differences

I don't consider trying to resolve unresolved issues as a tunnel. It's more that I'm not going to let up on a issue just because someone thinks ignoring me will get me off their back

Yeah I got distracted that night and wasn't getting anywhere with my reread, maybe page 3 or 4

Not sure if this'll make sense but I didn't reallt have my head ITG yet and I was assuming I'd be able to do more Friday but work absolutely kicked my ass

I feel a bit better now, still not where I want to be but I have ~3 villagers I feel pretty good about

re: Laine I remember her getting scumread in thr last game I played here bc she was sort of hostile / direct which I think is more typical of her village game than anything else. Not as confident as I was in that game (even if I reversed course in DT lol) but I'd still guess strongly she's just a villager who's deliberacy is turning some people the wrong way.

Nyn, talk to me. Got any hot takes so far?

You said Liz was even more inquisitive in her POG game? Does it tell you anything about her alignment here?

sooh this really feels like it comes someone with a motive to get nyn on liz's case

in terms of "leading questions"

I suppose a more open ended "Can you tell me more" could have been better. Though I'm not sure how you would assume that such a question would lead Nyn down any path she wasn't already on. She brought up the previous game, which means it's already in the back of her mind.

#awkward

I want my halli

Here at catching up! I was at my goodbye lunch with the people at the office that still like me.

Eh, Hallia's getting 'no content' vibes but at this point there's really not a lot to comment on

Posted

Pral does take a lot of pride in reading me and he's right that I'm not quite in normal villager mode this game but that's more to do with me just being weird sometimes than anything alignment relevant

Unfortunately there's no lynch I feel amazingly good which led to the vote on Prallia sheerly because she's a -1 on the notepad through Hallia's posting but I never felt great about it, hence the :/

Guessing you're talking about the game where we were hydra? If so, I don't feel like she's acting the same here. She was super ninja aggro that game, acting like she was doing everyone a favor for gracing us with her presence and doing any kind of work.

I just don't like when someone seems to be trying to get someone to say something

You see Nyn deliberate differences between Liz as town in a previous game and go "any hot takes?" "You said Liz was more inquisitive as a villager in a recent game, so how do you feel"

Just sort of feels "hey Nyn call liz a wolf"

Idk seems instigative and I don't rememeber you playing that way as a villager

Does that make sense?
