Hey all, would anyone be opposed, after this next game, to a couple month rest so we can all get back in the groove of mafia? People seem bored with it and we could go with a few small turbos for bit to keep those who want to play entertained without sacrificing the games of people in que.

Pretty sure if we stopped playing games would prolly fill more quickly....

I would be sad if you stopped playing though, I like you Z.

Taking a break is optional and on an individual by individual basis.

Someone can run turbos if people want to play them.

But there should always be at least a game or 2 open for those who want to play.

DM goes through waves of little activity and major activity.

This is par for the course imo.

The only thing taking a "forum break" would do is prevent a game from running if there was interest

I don't see the point at all

I've seen them be healthy ways to reinvigorate players before. There's something nice to looking forward to the treat of a game somewhere after you've been gone a while.

Sort of a poor argument when at least 80% of the people who play mafia here also have played on other forums (JetNation amd MafiaUniverse have a great deal of overlap with DM) and if this mafia forum suddenly [CLOSES DOWN] for awhile it changes nothing but their ability to sign up for a game here

I've always felt "let's close it down" was never a particularly great marketing strategy

As for the link (and I'd include Pral's BT game in this) I am ultimately surprised that during a minor lull there's a drought of people interested in large advanced games or cult games or anything of that sort as opposed to smaller basics / uncomplex advanced games, which have been the lifeblood of this community for awhile now.

That isnt untrue, I merely think it's of merit as a discussion point and I have found that many value this sort of break because forums are not equal or equivalent.

Theres plenty of reason that, despite most of us playing on multiple sites, we are naturally more inclined to play at a specific one over others.

Please recognize that this is all for discussion only. I think the main benefit is to avoid creating a discouraging atmosphere for moderators, more than to prevent players from playing.

i imagine if you wanted seven years on the queue for your turn you probably won't mind waiting 2-3 weeks to fill up a game now and then personally

patience is its own reward
