I don't know how far you read, and don't want to spoil nothing for you.  Aside from book 4, I assumed they were People of the Dragon because of the prophecy of him being born from a Maiden who is not of the Blood, but his father is Aiel.  Since "He Who Comes With The Dawn" is in all of their prophecies about leading them across the Dragonwall to fame and glory makes them "People of the Dragon" to me.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents and reason I think they are People of the Dragon.  Hope that helps and didn't spoil anything for you.....

the Guide (actual title "The World of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time") has some more info.  and the upcoming Companion might provide more.

to DemandredFO::

I think the Age of Legends term was "Children of the Dragon" not "People of the Dragon".

Like I said I never read to much into it. We know his parents, we know the story, the Ariel had the Prophecy, it makes sense to me. I'm not one to split hairs and that's just my reading style.

It all depends on the specific genitive used in "of."

They could be:
The people who belong to the Dragon

The Dragon's people

The people who are devoted to the Dragon

The people who identify with the Dragon

etc.

They are definitely the Dragon's people, in that they are the nation that spawned him. The others are more debatable though.

I also took it to mean since the Aes Sedai were responsible to protect the Aiel in the AOL, and since LTT was the head Aes Sedai they were his people, his responsibility.

I've always understood Aiels were people devoted to Aes Sedai in AoL. Since Lews Therin was their leader, they would literally be People of the Dragon.
