Is that it Hallia? I just don't see it. I think tommy is scum. I'm not the only one who noticed how he isn't playing usual.

 

What really bothers me isn't the change so much as him insisting he's playing his normal town game. Then gets called out for that being bs and he's like "no no I said I would play different" two posts after saying he wasn't playing different.

Cool so here  are three things I am seeing that interest me.

 

Turin/Ithi look more townish since they aren't closing themselves off and narrowing their focus.  I'll need a bit more from Ithi to be sure but they would have become more dogged and stopped spreading out as scum by now IMO.

 

Tommy is really playing to the crowd this game.  That isn't outside of his town game (it fits quite well with him, he always tries to match his audience) but it is odd to me how much effort he is putting into making sure that others have a good understanding of new players.  The onus should be on them to do that and yet he is taking over, which begs the question of his motivation for doing so rather than finding mafia.  I'd like to hear more on that from him.

 

Yates looks really town this game.  I know, every single time we say that he ends up as scum (For those of you who haven't played with scum Yates he is on par with D1 Cory/Vix as town, aka scary good.  I haven't seen him die in a year or so, much less lose.)  I think that his approach to the whole thing he is doing with Tommy looks really authentic so at the very least I doubt that they will be on a team together but with either of them I will find it hard to trust them if they live long at all.

tbh hally  your opinion on tommy isnt one im willing to consider lately. It seems or feels like evry game you simply agree with everything he says.

 

For me that means you have no credibility where he is concerned.

It's not a stretch at all to think that most players would say Town Cop or Town Doc, etc.

Of course you would. That's my point. If you are a cop or doctor or vig or something like that, the Town modifier distinguishes you from the Scum versions. Miller doesn't have a modifier because it can only be one alignment. The point of that line of questioning is that it struck me as odd that someone would qualify "Miller" with "Town" and I wanted to see the thought process there. It's one of those things where it could be nothing or it could be one of those subtle things scum don't even know they are doing half the time. I've taken note of it and will be looking for more subtle indicators as the game progresses.

 

 
@yates. here many pms come with it saying "you are the doc."  not you are TOWN doc. people claim by saying i am the cop. not i am the TOWN cop. There was even an argument over it a little while back where i claimed watcher i think and got jumped on for not saying town watcher. consensus ended up being around the fact that that was normal. and in fact if you claim TOWN whatever i personally am gonna be more skeptical of your claim. it sounds paranoid and like you know something we dont to me.

 

Actually, most mods DO say "town doc" and "town cop" in the role PM - because making sure their alignment is crystal clear to every player is pretty standard.  The only game I've played lately where the mod included my role and not my alignment was Amega's game where I was told I was a vigilante and given a QT link, and since he DIDN'T say "TOWN" in my role PM I assumed I was mafia.  And you saw where that got me.

 

As for the watcher thing, it's about 50/50 that watcher is a scum role.  Claiming watcher without specifying town watcher could be a way to evade a lie detector.  And while certainly people do claim "doc" and "cop" in the thread without specifying "town cop", you really can't just take whether or not they state their alignment along with their role as a hard and fast reason to be suspicious.  Consider the person you're looking at, their personality and manner of speaking, and the context.  I've been extra suspicious of people who DIDN'T use "town" in their claim because of the person, how they said it, when they said it, etc. 

 

In the situation in question here, obviously it wasn't TG who was adding on the "town" qualifier, so it's not his claim that's at issue.  It's how Ithi was referring to his claim, and knowing Ithi, I don't think her being overly precise is much of a scum tell.

 

In short, semantics, people.  

 

Going to run a few ISOs to get a better feel for some folks before I throw out reads, and see if there was anything that I skimmed over earlier that I want to address.

Simply that lately it seems   and i could be wrong but this is how it seems to me    that you ALWAYS agree with tommy.

 

I will always listen to what you have to say except in regards to tommy at the moment. I think its like you put rose colour glasses on when he is mentioned.  You arnt the only one i do this to. I ignore Turin about Ithi as well.

I can see where Tommy is coming from regarding Pral and the tone of his post, so I might lean scum there.

I'm not defending myself because there is nothing to defend. I asked a few relevant questions about the game/dm meta and other than that have been fairly busy/sleeping

 

 

I still think that the icky hydra is town and TG is Miller. Tsb is my gut feeling on scum. My gut has been right recently so I'm going to actually stick with it this time.

 

Not gonna do that here.  But I am going to point out that someone calling their own questions relevant after saying they won't defend themself is a fake and detatched way of presenting themselves to the thread.  It says "I want you to think I look open and view me in this manner" instead of "I want to be open to the thread".  

 

About halfway done with the ISO/reads... Just wanted to comment on this one to say thanks to Darthe for not chopping the post into sentence fragments to analyze them.  Cuz ya know it makes me nuts when you do.
