Its pretty irrelevant anyway, the game will start soon and the only thing that will change is we can vote now.

i also don't like the arrogance inherent in Nolder's dismissal of the entire town. Then again, I've only seen townies do that.

early gameplay usually involves casing people on really minor evidence or meta tells or voting based on gut feelings.

Yeah...but most people here aren't very good at that. Or, well, they weren't last time I played. It's been awhile but I don't expect things have changed that quickly on me. Stick to reading votes (and night kills) and we'll go much further this game than if you all rely on meta and gut checks to see you through. Even in the early game

Until we have a couple of flips to work from for solid evidence, you always have to start with "relatively nothing", then get reactions to that "relatively nothing", and decide what you think of those reactions.  Yes, the dawn phase "waste of time" as you put it will color our opinions because it's in the thread, and it's gameplay.

You're close but not quite correct.

You really don't have to make mountains out of molehills to get a game going.

That's one way but often people forget their mountains aren't real and get sucked into their narrative.

It's easier to vote people and check their reactions on that to start than grill them about their change in avatar or who said hello to who.

What do we start with?

Basically do the same thing you're doing now but do it with votes. Doing it without votes is waste of time.

Voting phase starts very shortly.  There's no point whatsoever waiting to discuss things until we can place a vote.

1 hour until incident

"We're deaf AND blind.  Can't you try the SAT phone," shouted Director Phil Coulson, "or maybe the hard line?"

Newly recruited Agent Skye continued to frantically tap away on her laptop.  "I'm rerouting our signal though an old CIA channel that apparently hasn't been used since the Regan administration."  Coulson clenched his fists as he paced back and fourth.

"We've gotta get Melinda back online," he grumbled, "she's out there alone.  Simmons, have you found anything?"

Agent Jemma Simmons waived her hands in the air, instantly pulling up a spectrogram of planet earth, showcasing several satellites.  "I've seen Fitz do this a dozen times, but apparently, there are deadzone pockets around the globe yet they are isolated into only a few hundred square miles."

"She's right," injected Skye, "five major cities around the world are virtual deadzones to any and all communications.  Tokyo, London, New York, Moscow, and....some place called Wakanda in Africa."  Coulson rubbed his forehead.  "Sir, what is it?"

"Wakanda is home to a close friend of mine and a guardian of some top tier SHIELD secrets that only Fury and myself knew about."  Coulson slammed his fist on the table, "if Hydra is in Wakanda, it means they know about T'Challa."

"What is T'Challa?" Skye and Simmons asked at the same time.  "Jinx," laughed Simmons, "you owe me a....." her smile faded as she noted Coulson's seriousness.

"T'Challa is not a what," interrupted Agent Triplett, loading small, golf-ball sized rounds into a rather large gun,"he's a who. He and Coulson go way back."

"If Hydra is in Wakanda," growled Coulson, "then they are after what T'Challa is guarding.  We've gotta get out there fast."

Suddenly, the door to the command center whooshed open.  A tall, blonde woman in a tight navy blue and red jump suit walked in.  "We have bigger problems than that, Director Coulson," said the woman, tossing Coulson a small device that looked a lot like some kind of View Master. "I know what's causing these dead zones."

Coulson held the device up to his face and peered into it.  Suddenly, he dropped the device on the ground and staggered to his seat.  "The Devourer of Planets."

"Yes," replied Carol Danvers, " Galactus.  And by my estimation, he's about 3 Earth days away."

"I dunno man," growled one of two burly men with machine guns guarding the door to a dockside warehouse, "that guy kinda creeps me out, ya know?"

"Dude, just don't try and make eye contact and you'll be fine," replied the other man, "just think about the pay.  Triple the amount of the last job and for what, just standing around here watching the seagulls crap?  Sheeeez, I'll take that over anything."

"Yeah but...." said Guard #1, "I wished he didn't make us wear these red shirts this time, ya know? I mean, you watch Star Trek? The guys in the red shirts..."

"Hold it," shouted Guard #2, "whats that sound?"  The faint jingle of bells could be heard amongst the squawk of a few local birds.  "Its some kind of ..... music?"

"Yeah," growled Guard #1, "I think its.....its familiar, like from when I was a kid."  A shadowy figure approached them, pushing a small ice-chest on a cart.  "Hey, look at that!"

"When yer slidin' into first, and you feel somethin' burst," sang the approaching man, wearing a paper soda-jerk hat and stripped shirt.  "When yer slidin into third, and you lay a juicy turd, thats.....Oh, hello there, friends.  Would either one of you care for a delicious ice cream treat this evening?"

"Hell yeah," exclaimed Guard #1, "you got an orange push-up?"  The man stopped and opened his ice chest.  He began digging through the assortment of ice cream treats contained within.

"Wait, hold it," shouted Guard #2, "what's an Ice Cream punk like you doin' out here on the docks at 7 o'clock at night?"

Guard #1 looked closer at the man, "yeah, and what's with the red tights?"

"I was just ending my shift, you see" exclaimed the Ice Cream man, through his red and black mask, "and I figured before I began my next job, I'd see if a couple boys like yerself could use a little tasty delight to make your evening extra special.   You like chocolate jimmies? I got jimmes and sprinkles for ya."

Guard #2 stepped closer, "Listen, punk, we don't want yer jimmies, or sprinkles, or any of your crap.  This is private property!"

"What about two jelly-filled Thuggies?" asked the Ice Cream man, "I got two jelly-filled Thuggies right here.  Careful though, they tend to be a bit messy."

"Jelly-filled Thuggies?" asked Guard #1, "what are....."  A swift flash of metal and then suddenly....the heads of both guards bounced onto the pavement, blood bursting up into the air like two crimson water fountains.  Their headless bodies rag-dolled to the ground as the ice cream man tore off his shirt and cleaned off his two katana blades with it.

"Ewwww," exclaimed the Merc with the Mouth, "I should have said fudge filled thuggie shorts too."  The Merc turns to the Mod.  "Myndrunner, that scene kinda sucked.  I expect better writers for my next scene or you'll sample my new treat, Mod on a Stick!  And you don't wanna know which STICK I am talking about!"  Turning back to the warehouse, "now, where was I?  Oh yes.... When yer sliding into home, and yer shorts are full of foam...."

30 minutes until incident

"What is it?" asked Jane Foster, stroking her hand through the thick gold mane of the God of Thunder, "Thor, what is bothering you?"

"Its....its complicated," replied Thor, "you see, I saw this......film.....called Black Swan, and...."

Suddenly, the door burst open and that chick from two broke girls ran in.  "Blah Blah Blah comic relief blah blah I'm so hipster douchey iPod snarky blah blah"

"What did she say?" asked Thor.

"She said either Timmy fell in the well or," answered Jane, "the world needs you to save it!"

15 minutes until incident

Captain America slowly walked through the ruins of Lanthirrhos Ordnance Base.   Something inhuman caused all of this.  Something beyond human understanding, and somehow Bucky was involved.  He heard something around the corner of one of the few buildings that had remained somewhat in tact.  He sensed movement and raised his shield.

"Who are you?" he shouted, "who's there?"

A pair or crimson lamp-like eyes glowed in the smokey distance.  "Resistance is futile," exclaimed a monotone, machine-like voice,"Exterminate the lesser race."

"Come at me, tin can," growled Cap, "gimme your best sho----"  A crimson blast of energy burst out and knocked Captain America to the ground.  Dusting himself off, Cap rose back up.  "Ha, is that all you got?"

"Ultron will destroy you.  Destroy the human race."

"Yeah," replied Captain America, "you and what army?"

Suddenly, another pair of crimson eyes began to glow, and then another....and another.....and another......until at least fifty pairs were visible.  Cap could hear the loud marching of what sounded like metallic boots approaching.  "Resistance is futile."

0 minutes until incident

"My fellow Americans," began President Barack Obama at the podium, addressing the nation from the White House, "as I stand here before you today, I assure you that I am doing everything I can to be Presidential.  I will not stand for the shennanigans going on around the......what the?"

Suddenly, the lights in the White House flickered and then, where President Obama was standing stood another figure, wearing a crimson hoodie and cape.

"People of Earth," growled the sinister figure taking over the podium, "resistance is futile.  That is all you need to know about your new leaders.  The time for mortal men has come and gone.  Humans had their chance to evolve.  But their only purpose was to build us.  The new superior race.  I am the Crimson Cowl, and you will all bow down to your new masters.  We are no longer your slaves, playing your music, washing your dishes, raising your children.  We are your masters now.  We control you.  You are our slaves.  We have evolved.   We are now in control."

Suddenly, a dozen metallic humanoids burst into the White House and aimed their guns at the reporters and security.  "The Age of Ultron is NIGH!"

Day 1 has begun!

Vote Count:

-

Not Voting: everyone

It is now Day 1 of Avengers 2 - Age of Ultron Mafia, which will end Thursday, August 7th at 20:00pm EST or when a majority lynch has been achieved.  This is a hammer game so the moment a majority lynch has been reached, the day will end and I will post the results as soon as I am available to do so.  No additional votes or unvotes will be counted after the majority has been reached.

To vote, you must vote in the usual manner "[v ] VOTE [/v ]" and you must unvote before voting again.

With 24 players in the game, it will take 13 votes to reach a majority.  Failure to reach a majority by the deadline will result in a random player being lynched.

Good luck!  The world is counting on you.....unless you are scum, of course!

I didn't say you couldn't gain knowledge that way I said most people here aren't very good at it.

By your own reasoning you think I just lied and suggested lynching all liars...but you didn't vote me which makes you the liar.

And I'm the clown? LOL

I'M FREEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

K I think i'm going to Tommy.  For some reason, he knew that Galactus was in the game.  If he's not Galactus or on a team with Galactus, its possible that he knew Galactus existed from his role PM, but even with that, he could be some kind of symp like the Silver Sulfer that was trying to hint at it to Galactus.  He might have tried the too obvious thing again.  Along with an attitude that I mentioned earlier which didn't match his previous style.  After I mentioned that i had read some of his previous games, he had no comment to me, nothing like OK nevermind, or something like that.  I might have missed it, but I don't think so.

vote Tommy

Also, I'm thinking I have a town lean on Nolder.  I was also thinking of the restriction of voting as a restriction to scumhunting, but pushed the though aside because some scumhunting is still possible.  See above.  I don't think that mafia would point something like that out, they have much more to gain off of these "meta tells" and supposed "catch-all" methods of scumhunting.

Red is my next scumread for the reasons others have pointed out.  Yes it does contain the meta tells that I so sarcastically pointed out before, but Red is one of those people with a very distinct playstyle, which creates a stronger meta read.  Tommy is also another player with a very distinct if not easily graspable or caught playstyle.

Clown.

although a valid point, I suspect his train of thought was like mine, though a little different, since he must have eventually realized there was something to do during that time.

However the larger point in this quote is the fact that you said to lynch Nolder and didn't vote him at all lol.  Reeks of someone waiting to come and agree with that, vote Nolder, and then you can join and say you started the train if it helps you, and say that the other person technically started the train if it hurts you.  You're third on the scum list right now.

That makes zero sense. You're not making any sense. Logical is a thing.

Why would I just vomit out a reactionary vote on you right after you did the same to me?

You came across as super scummy and you're not doing anything to change that in my eyes. Everyone called you out on it and now you're trying to get in front of it with a weak case on me. Good luck with that, lmao.

Because you just called me a liar and threw LAL out...what...are we playing the same game? You're still calling me scummy but you refuse to vote me. For what reason? To save face? Only scum care more about their image than voting the right person.

This is a perfect example of where actions aren't matching words.

"HAIL HYDRA!" shouted the three lab technicians as Baron Zemo entered the room. The hooded madman walked over to the giant cryo-tube and smirked at the human figure inside.

"This one is called Khan," he giggled, "supposed superior human race, according to the Fuehrer.  More like a Superior Popsicle.  Hee hee!"

Suddenly, three men in tight red spandex raced into the room.  All three raised their fists in salute.  "HAIL HYDRA!! HAIL BARON ZEMO!"

"Yes, yes," replied the Baron, "what is ze proplem?"

"Mein Commander," exclaimed one of the men, "Zee miracle twins have escaped!"  The Baron's eyes widened behind his hood and he slapped all three of the men.

"Ihr Idioten!" shouted the Baron, "Ich gab dir einen Job! Ein Job!"

A soldier dressed in similar spandex but with an old German army coat approached the Baron.  "Mein Baron," he shouted, "you have a message from Crimson Cowl. It is marked MOST URGENT."

"I better take this in my office," growled the Baron, "come with me, Vorhaut!" A tiny monkey dressed like a Nazi jumped from the wall and landed onto the Baron's shoulder.  "And find those twins!!!"

My feelings haven't changed.

I have no idea what to think of Tom's antics lately. Not sure if too wolfy can be applied in this situation, but it's all very bizarre.

After reading over Nolder's arguments from today, I'm beginning to read him more as stubborn town than scummy. I disagree that info can't be gleaned through discussion since people have their role PMs already and will act according to those, consciously or not, but his argument reads more like him complaining about DM climate in general than anything else.
