Squeeeee!!!!

Who else loved the Shannara series? Or has at least read it? Or would be willing to watch the series?

The Shannara series is officially coming to TV! MTV has picked up a full 10-episode season based on Terry Brooks’ 1983 classic, The Elfstones of Shannara. Miles Millar and Al Gough are writing the show, and Terry Brooks took to his site to praise their adaptation, saying that he “really couldn’t be happier with how it’s all coming together, and I am very much involved in the process.” Jon Favreau, who was initially slated to direct, is staying on as executive producer. The first two episodes will now be directed by Jonathan Liebesman, currently in post-production on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We look forward to the day when we complain that “MTV doesn't even play epic fantasy series anymore, man.”

I have not read the Shannara series but I am going to now!

I also agree with Mills on MTV...They had a great thing going and killed it.

I remember reading and enjoying quite a lot of the series many years ago (there have been a bunch more released since then).

If I actually had cable television I'd definitely watch. Unfortunately, the cable subscription was the first thing to be sacrificed to the tightened budget about 5 years ago.

I must say MTV isn't something I've watched above two or three times in my life. I would, for this, though.

Awww Song ... well hopefully by the time this hits the screen, your situation will have improved. Otherwise, there's always video.

I'd get excited by virtually any fantasy series being filmed, but I'm glad it's something I at least read AND liked .. bonus :)

I seriously doubt that the same network that gave us Jersey Shore, The Hills, and The Real World can possibly do epic fantasy right. This has the potential to actually be worse than Legend of the Seeker.

*nods and Basel*

Legend of the Seeker turned out to be pretty bad. I sure hope MTV can do better with this.

*lol*  I showed my husband this article, and he said, "All MTV does is fantasy."

I'm still laughing over that.

I don't think ANYthing can be worse than Legend of the Seeker. ugh. lol

That's hysterical Mashi! hahahaha

I read 'The Sword of Shanara' aaaaaaaaaaaaaaages ago. I barely remember it. I remember that it was kind of dark and spooky though right? I can't even remember the story of it. lol

You should read it again Mills! I am going to read it as soon as I finish Outlander.
