Love the series but.........

They talk about it a lot throughout the series.  Siuan was chosen because they had a number of Amyrlins in just a few years that were old and died, or were killed off by the Black Ajah.  They were looking for someone who would be younger and stay in office longer.  Siuan was very well regarded because of her ability with puzzles, but it was mostly political that saw her rise to the Amyrlin Seat.  Actually, I think a lot of it could also be attributed to the Pattern, who would need her to put certain things in motion.

My biggest question is how Siuan rose to the Amyrlin Seat at such a young age?

She was the Eg of her time. First a puppet/figurehead, later a "real" leader.

Does anyone besides myself wish there were a connecting book between New Spring and TEoTW?

This seems like a pseudo-question from the publisher (the readers are ready or not to buy another novels in the series).

My answer: leave the series alone. Let it rest.

RJ did plan two prequels. One about how Lan and Moiraine arrived in the TR - so it would have included at least a general explanation of what occured in those 20 years. Suian being raised as Amyrlin would have been a major plot point in giving Moiraine more access and leeway to search for the Dragon, but how much detail would be given to the subject is anyone's guess.

The second was Tam's journey in the Aiel war, leading up to the point where he finds Rand on Dragonmount.

Unfortunately as we know, RJ passed away before he could write these.

This was supposed to be one of the two prequels remaining for RJ to write, how Moiraine and Lan came to the Two Rivers, their brief encounter with Logain (he was one of the children she hunted down iirc after Lan joined her in NS) as well as Tam's piece explaining him leaving and joining the army of Illian, rising to the rank of Second Captain of the Companions, the White Cloak War, killing Laman, arguing with the Aiel to keep Laman's sword while they took the gaudy one as proof of his death...lol.

Wow, that this book was being planned, is actually very heartbreaking to me.  I always thought Tam's journey from being a Two River's shepard to becoming Second In command of the Armies of Illian was facinating and would be a awesome tale to read.

Like another poster told, there were 2 other planed prequels (in addition to New Spring).

The Encyclopaedia site has little info about them.

Was a decision made about them?  If so, please provide link.

Pretty sure the books will never happen now.  RJ was also going to do a series on Mat and Tuon recapturing Seanchan.  BS if I remember right has said he was done writing for the WOT, so it to me seems these books will never happen.  Plus RJ would of had to of left a lot of notes for BS to of made the books.

Interview: Feb 19th, 2013 Rob B Harriet McDougal

When a fan asked about the Outrigger novels and Prequels, Harriet answered "No." After a moment of silence, she recounted that while Jim very much wanted the mainline Wheel of Time series to be finished, he didn't want anybody making up things in his sandbox. Jordan's extensive notes, dictated and written, were the framework for the final three novels while three sentences at most constitute the Outrigger and prequel novels.

I do have to ask however, why do you always explicitly ask for links? You know about Theoryland and the "wot search" there. Why not look it up yourself?
