Content makes a big difference, at least for me.

But so does Basic vs Advance.

It could be people are in the mood for more complicated roles.

Content I find to be irrelevant. It's mostly the mod and the style. I love basic games. They are my favorite.

 

However. I'm preparing two advanced games for dm. My games used to be a big deal so I'll try and make em special. :)

Basic games are fun, but imo usually too fast. Either town or mafia seems to get steamrolled, it doesn't seem to go down to the wire as often and when it does the game is still relatively fast.

Oh yeah, for sure, smaller, quicker games have a lot less "homework" so are easier to play casually. I don't get all butthurt if I mess up or something, it's kinda like an exhibition game.

Only thing is, the games that usually stand out for a while are usually those with interesting or unusual mechanics or something.
