Vote code for mobile users

Just a heads up, I see a lot of mods try to help out mobile users by placing the vote code in the first post of a game, and that's really great of them. But on most mobile devices I've used DM, it's extremely hopless and frustrating to get back to the first page, cause you gotta go back one page at a time. I just wanted to suggest that maybe mods include the code in role PMs, as they are much easier to get to quickly :) Just an idea!

Another idea is to save it as a note on your phone.  I did that for a while before memorizing the codes.

I memorized it from the getgo.  It's not hard to remember, especially if you've used any markup languages before.

They are fairly simple to memorize, I just have a habit of forgetting to close tags from my phone.

This. I rarely play mafia on my phone, but saving the code as a note and then copy pasting it to your posts should elevate the problem if you haven't yet memorized it. I can imagine that some people don't like to multitask on their phone though, so automatically including it in your PM would be helpful for some people, or they can just ask the other players in game what the code is.

Markup Languages are simple, logical and intuitive - they have been designed that way.

Best solution is the simplest btw. Just make it stand out. Possibly by bolding. This red vote thing is a bad idea, I believe. The glow was even worse, especially if you try and look at them now :)

Red voting makes votes counts much easier for the MOD.  That is the purpose.  So...it is not a bad thing.  A half second of extra work isn't so bad.

Oh please let's not turn this into the "red vs bolded votes" discussion thing again... I myself prefer the red votes, but in the end it's all up to the mods and what they allow in their game.

It's about 30 second extra work for me. I'm willing to do that by the way, if need be.

I did do votecounts in bold / red games and there's not much of a difference for me actually.

My point is that the way people prefer to bold their votes is entirely personal, and forcing the mods to adjust that specific rule in their game isn't going to help anyone. Most mods on DM like the votes to be bolded and red because it helps them not miss any, and others just don't care that much. We don't have to discuss anything because I doubt that was what Mish wanted when she created this thread. She just wanted to share her idea with everyone.

Heh I still prefer creating vote tags for the site.  Its such easy coding to implement that Yates or I could easily just put it together and give it to verb.  Pass it up the line and copy paste when the site gets updated in the future.  FYI, vote tags = [v] [/v] and it bolds/colors/highlights or whatever you want it to.

I think I found out. I just have to learn how to select text now. :)

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3. In programs where there is text editing and in my web browser I can tap and hold my finger on the screen to get the select options with cut or copy, and double tap to get the paste and clipboard options. It may take some playing around with the screen tapping to get them to come up but once you've done it successfully, you should be able to get a feel for doing it again.

The code DM uses is really simple, they allow you just to type a colour name rather than all the ##0000 stuff.

 

To put things in perspective though, I haven't seen DM out of the code version in almost a year now.

All those huge cases you all hate so much, I type the code for that all by hand and wade through all those quotes by hand

When you are on mobile and wanna go back to the OP it's a little harder. Best way I've found is go to the URL and change the page-## to 1

See just the end bit above but in some URLs it's a little harder to find. But changing the page to 1 always seems to work

I'm very rarely on mobile, and when I am it's usually just to keep up with what's happened, not for posting (I hate typing on my phone), so it doesn't affect me. I just thought I'd tip those mods who do try their very best to be helpful by putting the code in the OP :)
