That's a lynch!!! scene coming up...

It is unusual for Basel to be this relatively inactive in a mafia game as compared to his usual play style in mafia. That has been mentioned  once, maybe twice already. I believe that Basel has been hammered already. It is unfortunate for him that the hammer was placed before he attempted to defend himself. But, if the vote count is incorrect, then I should probably make my vote now with only 10 minutes to go before the deadline.

VOTE Basel

Sorry I missed this

Watching from the streets, Merlin looked up at the balcony where Arthur, Uther, and Morgana stood. Hearing shuffling feet, he turned his head and watched as the prisoner was led with a sack over their head by guards. The prisoner wore a dress, and after they'd been led up the stairs to the gallows, the sack was taken off her head and revealed her face. It was his mother. Merlin charged forward yelling,

"STOP!!!"

He ran up the steps and faced Uther and Arthur.

"This cannot be the traitor you are looking for! She is my mother!"

Uther's face revealed his anger. "This woman came to Camelot the day that the messenger was killed. She has also been seen sneaking into the castle several times, mostly at night."

"She came to see me." Merlin shouted desperately.

"She is not from Camelot and has been seen coming and going suspiciously, including the night that the messenger was murdered."

"But it wasn't her!"

"Remove him."

The command was swiftly carried out by a few guards, and although Merlin struggled, he knew that the only way to free his mother was to use magic. If he used magic, he would reveal himself, and for the good of Camelot, he knew he could not, and as he was brought to the room he shared with Gaius, he stopped resisting... Going to the window with tears rolling down his cheeks, he watched as the trapdoor opened letting his mother fall through with the rope holding her so she hung suspended...

Basel Gill, Hunith, vanilla town has been lynched...

It is now Night.... it will end Tuesday at 22:00 EST http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20130611T20&p0=263&fg2=9acd79&msg=Merlin+Mafia+Night+1

But the big question is... Why?

Well mainly cos f that

"Oh no I hate PRs having to claim so early"

But I'm sure there was a lot more that I can bring up in my read through

Posted

So does any townie.  It was a comment which served no purpose other than to make you look town.  Therefore it is scummy.  Townies should be much more concerned with playing pro-town than looking pro-town.  Mafia, on the other hand, are exactly the opposite.

Also, it seemed overdone to me, like you were hamming it up.

Posted

No, I can choose to holster. The only thing with that is if mafia decides to NK me we lose the chance. I will holster if that's what is decided.

Posted

I would probably holster unless you have a really strong scum read. The doc will probably be protecting Hallia, so you could risk killing the doc or another power role.

Well, there goes my hope something would have happened during work :(

I'll unvote and put my vote back on kaylee

I won't get back online before deadline. We need to lynch someone and it's probably gonna be between her and basel.

so you either skimmed through her claim or dont believe it

which one is it?

Kaylee didn't claim. Halia did. Kaylee said she might claim later. Which is WAAAY more useful to mafia, and hence a lot less believable.

Or, judging by the pletorum of following votes, I missed something. What did I miss?

upper quote from Krak:

Krak and Tiink, why Basel ?

He's been scummin' man - making votes without explaining, hopping on the tail end of trains using other's logic, and not responding to any passive or nigh-outright challenges.  It's really hands-off play (or seems that way), and I don't like it.

And why would that make him mafia? He's taking this game easy is what he is doing. Which seems to me to be more the play style of non-mafia than mafia. Mafia NEVER takes a game easy.

Kaylee claimed vig? Interesting... I indeed missed that. Not that it would really have helped her with regards to my vote...

Also strange (unless I missed something): Vambram makes his first interesting post at the same time the mod declares the hammer fallen.

And, ultimately, Kaylee and Haila: who are you. You've declared your role, but we all also have a character. With roles like that, your characters must be important. Who are you?

Felt throughout the day that the train on Basel was really lazy. Krak tunneled on him from the start of the game. Was he coasting? Yeah, I guess. Plenty of others were too tho. Oh well, at least we got a lynch secured, and I got some pretty good scumreads on a few for tomorrow (AIMITTN)

Isn't that what Wombat was doing? Maybe I read it that way. The joke voting and RVS stuff. If it isn't game mechanics then what is it? Game play?

Game mechanics discussions are basically when someone is gaming the mod- theorizing setup, how the mod would use certain roles, etc. It's usually anti-town to even attempt to discuss game mechanics early on, the only time's it's really necessary is when you have a creative mod and you have to figure out the possible path to victory.

Peace: No I just find it fascinating, I wonder what I'm doing different lately.

I vote when I feel confident in my vote; I'm not gonna start voting willy-nilly just to please you Wombat. I rarely, if ever, vote only to apply pressure. I vote when I think I've caught the faint smell of mafia.

Here's what's wrong about that second part: there's almost nothing that can make someone "confident" about a vote on day 1. Playing timid with your vote doesn't help town, and could easily signify timid scum play.

I'm open to suggestions on who I should kill.

Holster, for the love of Eden.

Bleurgh. Your grip on this game of mafia troubles me. "Mafia would NEVER...." type statements are dumb. Mafia will do whatever they think will help them win the game.

Your grip on this game of mafia troubles me.

Unfortunately, I turned out to be correct, and the lynch train didn't .  It is not because mafia never takes a game easy (which it is prodded for in the quicktopics, being mafia makes the game more interesting automatically, ... : plenty of reasons), that they cannot act like they take it easy. I planned to add that part, but got interrupted and wrote that sentence in two stretches with half an hour between... You got me there, a sure sign I'm mafia .    However, the next sentence you say is correct: "Mafia would NEVER...." type statements are dumb. They CAN play at it, however

Kaylee, if you truly are vig: don't follow anyone's advise on who to kill, but kill the person you want to kill. That changes if half a dozen people ask you to kill someone, of course, but one or two could easily be mafia trying to get some sort of second nightkill.

Why would discussing game mechanics be anti-town? Usually, mafia know more about them than town does (at least in the beginning), so discussing them would at worst be a neutral thing (or even pro-town)...

Some very strange ideas slipped into mafia this last half year. It's like a lot of you have taken in a couple of ideas which you holily believe in, but which are just oh so plainly wrong. This one and the not-setting-up-players being the most blatant I've noticed so far.

I'm not THAT old, you know . We already had those round things called cds

The age of an idea has very little to do with its correctness. These two ideas, which are obviously wrong if you logically think about them, are new, but their age never was, nor ever will be my point.

CDs?!! :huh::tongue:

and one of the most embarrassing (and funniest) thing i ever asked my grandmother was that when she was small, were the people black and white

  they still make fun of me for that
