Went to do Turin's ISO...and I found pretty much nothing.

However, did see some other pings from other people and I'll give those a post tomorrow.

Heading off to sleep; gonna double check my quotes on Turin tomorrow before I get rid of all those quotes though.

Also, I agree about the Mish comment. Her whole post on me about being some magnificent tool for the scum team to use under the guise of a D1 pass was a big fat WIFOM bomb.

vote Andrej

I'll post a bit more on reads for everyone else tomorrow, but for now my vote is here. Yes, Andrej is new, and if he weren't he surely would have been lynched D1. Between how hard he pushed on Tiink, the calling out for the cop to reveal on D1, and a number of overly aggressive comments, this is my top scum read.

That being said, I thought yesterday Dap and Andrej might be on a scum team, and today there seems to be some distancing going on aka Dap is experienced enough to know that Andrej's play so far is scumtastic and needs to get some distance from the lynch. I'm curious to see what comes of this.

Also, since this is a mentor game, all newer players should know that it is a universal scum tell to say you think someone is scum based on a "gut feeling." The translation is you want to lynch a townie as scum but can't come up with a good case so you just keep trying to sow doubt about that player to see if people will run with it.

Finally, people have been calling out my play saying that I'm not as active. In the sign up thread I asked if it would be okay for me to play if I can only get on once or twice per day, and there were no objections. I had been able to access DM more often in the past, but right now i really can't get on much more than daily. I will try to make everything I say game related to make up for it. If this becomes an issue and I'm not contributing enough I can ask to be replaced, though I would really prefer not to.

I don't think you understand OMGUS. It is when you specifically vote someone only because they are voting you. I'm voting you based upon your D1 play, not because you said that you found something I said suspicious. As for the role fishing for the cop, I was referring to the following post:

You're right, I'm just getting frustrated.

As far as a claim goes though, there hasn't been a night phase yet so it wouldn't be like he could give us any real information if he were cop. It doesn't specify whether the vig is day or night kill, but being as this is a "basic" game I believe that both roles are NA only. Who is to say he isn't lying? This early I doubt anyone would come out with a counter claim considering there is no doc to protect them.

Bolded sounds a lot like role fishing and trying to get a claim. As though you were hoping that someone who reads your post first will think that Tiink had revealed cop and then counter claim. In a basic game like this one where the town PR are so limited that is a serious misstep, because an early reveal from the cop really hurts town.

Posted

That comment was in the context that he could fake claim since people continued to state they wanted to wait for him to come back in case he had a role. Nice way to try and twist my words though. And I understand the concept quite well. I think the fact that you're voting me now is because in my thoughts of the players in the game I stated that I had a feeling you were mafia.

Also, your comment about how all "newer players should know" is pretty contradictory in itself. If they were new, why should they automatically know something about the dynamics of the game?

The gut feeling thing, I'm guessing that was also in reference towards me. Can you find a quote where I have once used the words gut feeling in reference to my thoughts on any players? Good luck twisting that one.

AJ is doing well for his first game.

Now, as for Tiink, what was with the whole D1 pass argument. Everything from that point on screams scum. It doesn't seem consistent how you have discussed your knowledge of the pass, nor do your reasons about it seem valid.

LZM should just be lynched now for his contribution to the game, or severe lack thereof.

unvote, vote Tiink

Your original opinion of me. Your reason for voting Tiink, which at the time was legit. I also think this was a pretty easy vote to bandwagon onto since his train had pretty much already left the station. It was the only real thing we had to go on at the time besides Rand who basically just stopped playing. And lastly, your vote on Tiink.

@Mish - I wasn't saying it was a bad thing you've been away, just noting it. I've been away too.

Also, I get the irony about my posting about lynching LZM. I stand by it anyway, especially if he doesn't add anything more soon.

@AJ - the fact that you are rushing to lynch Tiink is a scum tell. It indicates that you are mafia and over eager to lynch a townie. Typically town is not so eager to lynch since we can never know for sure.

Also, I was in the earlier mentor game when Turin was mafia that you are referring to. I completely trusted him that game.

Some advice. Obvious advice, but a tip nonetheless. Also, a way to start pointing me out for my push.

No, I was just discussing the hypothetical situation when a mafia member is over eager to get a lynch accomplished.

Finally, nobody hammer Tiink. He needs to have a chance to defend himself before someone hammers him. Scum play is the speed lynch, let's not do it folks.

Your 'hypothetical' situation. WIFOM. Then the comment about not hammering Tiink I mentioned before. Don't hammer, but your vote stays? Petitioning to the town about scummy tactics for speed lynching after already pointing out my push was a tell.

I meant it more that Dap was taking a buddying/mentorship role with you, which he already responded to.  As for "only" throwing suspicion out, I have my town reads and my scum reads, which I mentioned in my quick casing post. However, it is a common scumhunting tactic to poke people and see how they react.

The comment about poking for reactions. I'm a reactionary player, which by now I think is pretty obvious. Something I need to work on, admittedly, I think I come across kind of brash in most of my posts but I'm still learning how to really play and express myself. Although it seemed like you were just pointing out something, giving advice even, to me it came across as a way to make my reaction seem negative. Also, the link was a little excessive.

Already said what I had to say here. Beginning to think maybe the new player and gut feeling comment was meant for someone else, but still doesn't make sense. To be fair though, I did see you talk about being busy in the sign up thread and your posts have been content related. That much is appreciated.

Welp, I'm off to bed.

Just a heads up. I'm traveling back to California later today and won't arrive until early in the evening, so I probably won't be on until late.

RTE, thanks for your opinion. You have a gut town read on Peace. I guess we disagree then. As I noted, Peace's main defense for why he pushed so hard to get what turned out to be a townie lynched was that in a different game a "for sure" lynch ended up going random. There was NO WAY in the world that D1 in this game was going to go random. There were several candidates in the event that Tiink ended up being spared. To me that means his "reason" is invalid so why did he push so hard? As for Dap's comment, I have caught several mafia in just that manner. So for me if it works keep looking at it. To be fair to Dap, the comment stemmed from him asking me a question if I thought his play scummy. I really don't but did comment that his statement was the worst thing I had seen. He is playing very town. I am not overly suspicious of him but I know that I play town too so If I can do it others can do it.

The above is from Turin. This was actually quite a good reply. I understand what you mean about Peace but I don't think he did that out of scummy intentions. I do think there was a slight chance that the train could have become derailed though so I don't totally disagree with him.  But this was a good reply.

I will get a VC up in an hour or so

Also Rand has asked to be replaced. Looking now.

This is actually really bad for the game right now. People are always more reluctant to pursue a replacement, who has little time to ground themselves and get posting. However, doesn't make the likelihood of Rand turning out to be scum any less...

Posted

Leno..you have a problem it seems with my voting for Rand.

No worries...I'll fix it for ya.  UNVOTE VOTE RAND.

RTE, there is a reason that people go after those that bail from the game.  They are more often than not scum.  At least in the DM meta.

Posted

Peace, I took your vote from Rand for now because I am looking for a replacement for him. Thats how I have always seen people do it in their games when someone was being replaced.

It was in context of a fake claim discussion, but the way you said it bothered me.

As for the "new players should know" thing, that wasn't directed at you, but rather at the number of casings that have contained "gut feeling" type of reads, though not always with those exact words.

(I'll respond to each of the above in 4 paragraphs)

My original opinion was that you are playing well.  I still think you are playing well (active, engaged, paying attention to arguments, etc), I just think that you've pushed a bit far and now my read on you has changed from town lean to scum lean.

As for the not hammering Tiink.  It is a lot more pressure when a player is at L-1 than otherwise.  I left my vote along with that comment to keep the pressure on Tiink and give him a chance to respond.  I assumed that nobody would hammer because it would look really scummy after the comment I made.  If I had unvoted, it would have taken some of the pressure off of Tiink and he may have decided to just stay quiet in hopes his train would dissipate, which I didn't want to let him do.

Meh, I think you've been doing okay on being proactive also. You have to find your own balance between being reactive v. proactive, but both are needed in mafia.  Being reactionary is not bad as you need to react to what others are doing, but coming up with your own reasons to vote or case someone instead of just sheeping is the best possible town play.  As for the link being excessive, you should always either A) back up your posts with evidence or B) be prepared to do so.  That is why you see the wall of quotes so often, because people want to give thoughts that appear to have evidence behind them.

Yup, that wasn't directed at you.

just wanted to let you guys know that i cant finally get on DM :D

since i have school and i have the flu im going to have to do a proper reread and get all my thoughts arranged

the thing that stuck to me was as someone mentioned the distancing between dap and AJ

Dead game.

Guys you can vote as a tool.  I understand that Dap doesn't like to vote until he knows he wants to lynch someone but you can use your vote as a tool to apply pressure ALONG with reasoning for your vote.   When a game stalls we need to kick it up a notch.

I still think Rand/his replacement is scum.  But looks like the mod wants us to leave him alone until the replacement comes in.

Hallia is my next most likely suspect.  Parroting and buddying being the main reasons.  So... VOTE HALLIA.

Posted

Who did I buddy with?

There wasn't a post on this thread for 4 hours.  I post a vote on Hallia and 5 minutes later she questions me?

C'mon people...play the game.  The worse thing that can happen is you get lynched or night killed and sign up for the next game.  It's not the end of the world.  Stick your neck at a bit and learn from your mistakes.

*nodnod* That's what I've been trying to do.  I post my thoughts, and when I see something, or if someone addresses me I pop in.

Ok, I'm gonna address you again.

Who do you think is likely scum and who are you going to vote for?
