TG; I wrote one post, and when I pressed post, it looked like DM ate my post, wich is not unusual for me to experience. So I went to write it again, thought some more, and figured that I really didn't have a clue, and wrote that. If you hadn't been scummy skimming, you''d seen that right after that second post I wrote "Oh, my first post got posted!".

And you've got another couple of errors in your observations too; the whole thing you're pointing out about Lenlo: they were talking CHARACTER claims, not ROLE claims. Also Hallia IS new, not just seemingly new.

I did see that.  I also noticed that your posts were a full ten minutes apart.  10 minutes.  I find it hard to believe that you did not reload the thread anytime during those ten minutes to see your comment had posted.  However, I do know you mentioned internet troubles, so that is why I only gave you a slight scum lean.

As for the other points, Lenlo came out asking everyone whether or not we should ask for a character from Cloud.  The role claim was never a topic as Cloud came out with it so quickly.  However, Lenlo did this so cautiously it strikes me as scummy.  Interesting that you are offering a soft, strawman defense of Lenlo though.

And yes, Hallia is new.  Just because she is new doesn't mean she isn't scum, as others have pointed out.  However, my notes are that her comments strike me as a simply comments from a new player and don't seem scummy.

EDIT:  Sorry Mish, I just looked back at my original notes and see that I did write "roleclaim".  I retract the comment about you defending Lenlo as you were correct.  As for the Lenlo thing, I meant character claim.

TG, what do you think of Rand?

My town read on Rand is only based on having played multiple games with him when he has been town.  So far his played strikes me as the same as those other games.  I'll read through his posts more closely though to see if anything more sticks out as I did notice your casing of him.

TG: I did reload the thread; my original post had not showed up. Then I went for a cigarette. And wrote my new post. I didn't reload the page when I came back because I haven't experienced before that a post showes up after I've reloaded the page once. I've had this problem with DM eating my posts occasionally for several weeks now; it happens very rarely though, maybe 1 in 20-30 posts.

How would we test it against others if we don't have any other character claims to test it against?  (and please no one claim their character to give us something to compare to)

@Cloud - Looking back over his posts, most of your case on Rand seems to be from the above post.  From playing with Rand before it seems like when he is town he normally tries to be helpful to other town players to keep the game being played the "right way."  Maybe that is why the above comment struck you as trying to look overly townie but to me seemed within his meta.

OK, I was just trying to gauge your reactions from that question, wasn't actually serious, I knew what you guys meant.

For instance, the above post comes after a bit of poking.  He pokes, judges the reaction, then backs off to look elsewhere.  Rather than trying to look too town, I take it as him scumhunting.

Makes sense.  DM has been a little buggy for me every since the DDoS started a while ago.  Most often it is just that I have no reply box, but I suppose it can be affecting everyone differently.

Posted

Yeah I get the no reply box (worst on PMs), this that sometimes my posts gets eaten, and it's erratical if DM notifiy me of new replies while writing a post or not. So I guess I'm among the luckier ones :P

Posted

Happens to me as well Mish.  I think it's a firefox thing...but haven't tried IE yet.

Tglems...where have I made a joke?  All of my posts have been serious.  If you are taking them differently, you are wrong.

Posted

Not nessecarily; if this person has a role who gives them two votes i.e. then they can post one publicly and one on PM. I haven't heard of such a role, but I guess it exists.

Or possibly a role that, if someone votes them, a second vote will be generated for that person to use anonymously? I really don't know. It sucks though <.<

>I've never heard of such a thing as an anonymous vote o.O I have no idea how that works.

This is a bit odd IMO.  Mish posits on the role, then a few posts later says she has no idea how the role works.  Not self consistent.

I don't know, Moon always seems like this to me.  Darthe, can you explain your is this real comment?  Do you think that that isn't a viable reason, or were you just posting that for kicks and giggles.

Seems like what??? She's posted TWICE. And you've got your joke vote on her. This just seems like massively poor defense of a teammate to me.

Vote Rand[/color=red]

I was talking about this post (quoting will probably be weird.

>>

I was gonna say I think that both Len and Darthe are scum

Because of their arguing.

Looks like distancing.

But Darthe explained the "Kivam" thing.

Possibly trying to distance himself.

Moon generally starts off swinging without very many joke/spam posts.  She is very to the point with her observations.  That's what I was saying as normal.  And my joke vote was completely random, I was just pointing out that she isn't scummy right now.  My joke vote has no indication of who I think is scummy, hence it being called a joke vote.

&nbs

cloud's reveal is majorly suspect and not necessarily a town thing.

He *could* be a double voter as town. This is completely plausable.

Or, maybe the mafia got a double voter to compensate for overpowered town or under numbered mafia.

However, even if he is town, then Cloud has done something risky. He made himself a mafia target. They might want to control his vote, or kill him so he can't double vote against them.

As far as my limited posting, I’ve just started modding my first mafia game in Thak. And that has taken up a little bit of time. Plus, as Rand has pointed out, I’m often very silly on day one. Because it is very hard to get a read on some people during day one.

I am going to Unvote for now and vote when I've had a chance to decide who I think the real mafias are.

This is also quite strange.  Rand says Moon is concise and to the point.  Moon says that Rand is right that she is silly.  At the very least skimming by Moon.

Darthe, I'm not sure what my reputation is or why it's unwarranted; in any case, I wasn't saying 'vote Darthe because of my reputation', so I don't know why you brought it up. I'm focusing on you because you were the only one to suggest that Cloud was confirmed town (or almost so) as a result of his vote. He's not, and I explained why. The fact that you believed his claim so suddenly suggests to me that you might have more information than the rest of the town does.

You're backpedaling now to say that he's only somebody that you have a town read on. That would have been a fair enough reaction to have, but it wasn't your initial reaction.

Darthe was not the only one to think Cloud was town after his reveal.  Why spread misinformation to try and build a case?

Why is it a bad thing to ask about his character Tress? He already revealed his role so he might as well reveal his character as well. Half done reveals dont help town. Now that we know he is Thom if he is lieing then a real Thom can step forward and say "That guy is a LLL!" And we get a scum. ((Again, I dont think he is lieing but it never hurts to be cautious.))

This is very strange to me because Lenlo didn't ask for the role, he put it out there softly to everyone saying "Hey guys, should we maybe ask for a role what do you think?"  And then when he gets a good reaction from others about the idea he doubles down as though he came out and asked for a role when he never did.  Reeks of being overcautious scum.

I don't have tons of reads on everyone else yet, but here is my wall so far-

Time - no content yet, but made a joke vote post well after the joke vote stage was over.  still, null

Kaylee - Concise posts, no read

Peace - At first I wasn't sure if he was trying to stir the pot with pokes or actually case building, but he made a serious vote on Darthe and then two posts later made a joke about his serious vote.  leaning scum

Cloud - double vote, town read for the reveal

Darthe - him advising on play is a town read to me, he is looking for content to scumhunt instead of the friendly banter a lot of us engage is.  I disagree with him because I think the joy of mafia on DM is that we are all friendly and this isn't the case on mafia scum, but to each their own. - leaning town

Hallia - seems newb to me, leaning town

Tress - could be more helpful to halia with an explanation of why rather than just posting observation, null

Moon - see above, leaning scum

Len - see above, weirdly cautious behavior about the roleclaim, then doubles down on it, likely scum

Mish - see above, weird backup on double vote issue, slight scum lean

Kae - seems to have taken on a role of advising town, null

Rand - seems to be playing to his town style, likely town

Tina - I didn't like her pressure vote on what I consider a weak case, but null tell

Pandy - first non-joke vote, see above for misinformation, leaning scum

Talya - acting like scum hunting in how she words her posts, leaning town

RTE - still acting like a newb, leaning town

I like seeing this, how you come to the conclusions.  It's helpful!

I have to say, I'm still getting used to names, I think I have only played with two maybe three people on here before so past experience is not going to help. Someone said something that caught my attention so I will have to go back and check. But maybe a little advice to us all....what about typing in the name of the person who you just quoted above it, with DM not doing who the quote was from makes it very difficult to work out who said who...haha. Just an idea, may help those that don't know people very well remember who said what. :-D

now to find that post.

TG, I think your case on my is complete BS. But thats just me.

I asked if it was a good idea and Cloud came out and said his character. Also if youll go back and read it got bad reactions, not good ones. Or were you ignoring Tress's comment on it?

 You mean Tel'aran'rhiod?

Grammar nazi lol.

So what do you think sis? Who's scum?

Ok, let's see. I think Cloud's early reveal was odd, but probably ultimately a town move. Hallia is pinging, but I think it's just n00b pings, and D1 pass there anyway. Darthe seems off to me, tho it isn't anything I can quote and point at specifically yet. And a minor FOS at Lenlo for character fishing on Cloud. Doesn't feel townie to me at all at this point.

Unvote

This is the post. I'm trying to work out why it seems a bit odd. Bit too much of the obvious on Clouds reveal. Has a minor FOS on Lenlo and then says he "doesn't feel town to me at all" That seems a bit more than just a minor FOS.

As for asking for a character reveal, nothing wrong with asking someone who has revealed their role, to hint at it or suggest it without directly asking is not so good. I would say if you reveal your role, not a bad idea to go with character too. Allows the town to be able to work out if there is some truth in the claim already. If you get a counter claim, you have 50/50 of getting scum (or 100%...haha) (or if Mynd was here 0% because he has fake claimed as town!!!)

This made me think of that

Anyone wonder how/why Thom would get two votes? In terms of lore/story?

His skill at the Game of Houses most likely.

Of course, this assumes that Cloud is telling the truth.

Posted

I was thinking the same RTE, but then we don't know how the Mod's mind works. Maybe because he is a gleeman, goes with Mat to save Morraine? Not sure.

Player: Mynd does everything with such flamboyance, though it did give you a bit of a headache when trying to work him out!

Posted

I mean, I'm not saying it isn't plausible. Just figured with so many people here we could come up with a good answer. Game of Houses makes sense. However there is nothing to say that Basel needs to stick to the books either I guess in terms of roles and characters matching up.
