1. This is a hammer/time limit game. When a majority of votes have been cast on one player, day phase will end and any further votes or unvotes will no longer be counted.

2. If a majority does not take place, whoever has the majority at days end will be lynched. Ties result in a No Lynch..

3. "No lynch" is an option.

4. Self votes are allowed.

5. Days (except for day 1) will last approximately 72 hours, and nights approximately 24 hours, unless the deadline falls on a weekend. If the deadline falls on a weekend, it may be pushed until Monday.

If there are more than 1 inactive players I will grant a random active player the ability to pick an inactive player and instakill them. That player will be given a time limit to do so. 16. This is where I'm supposed to make a comment about making personal insults. IMO it's an insult to expect there to be mafia play without something being said that can be taken personally. If there is an issue where you feel lines have been crossed then the ONLY recourse is a PM to me. I will then determine the appropriate course of action. This may include bringing in outside help to validate my thinking. Otherwise understand that you are playing a game that encourages a hostile environment. If you feel that you are easily upset by negative comments directed your way this is not the game for you.

The 6 possible setups are: (I may make minor tweaks before the game starts depending on number of players that sign up.  But these are basically the choices.)

You step down from the bus joining the others in a small group.  Ahead of you is large gray hanger.  The number 18, large, black and menacing displayed prominently over the large bay doors.

This is it. – You think to yourself.  Finally you get to see the secrets hidden within.  You’ve been tracking down this information for most of your adult life.  Other’s have called you crazy but you’ve always known you were right.  They are out there, and proof is inside that hanger.

A small door next to the larger hangar bay opens, and a man in a black jump suit steps through and heads toward your group.   As he gets closer you notice he is wearing a strange oversized set of goggles and his face almost looks skeletal.

“Welcome to Hangar 18.” He hisses. “I am Vic Rattlehead and I’ll be showing you around, so to speak.”

With that, he turns and heads back to the hangar.  Everyone in the group looks to each other wondering if they are supposed to follow.  You’ve waited to long to see this and rush to fall a step behind Mr. Rattlehead.

Once inside the hanger, you are overwhelmed by it’s sheer size.  Mr. Rattlehead points to some folding chairs set up in the middle of the hanger in front of a chalkboard.  You join the group in picking a seat.

BOOM -  Everyone’s head turns back to the entrance.  You see a very large heavy gauged metal wall has slammed in place sealing off both the large and small hangar bay doors.  You feel a slight panic as you realize you’ve just been cut off from the outside world.

“Ahem.” Vic rattles.  “Let’s get started.”

“Welcome to our fortress tall
We’ll take some time to show you around
Impossible to break these walls
For you see the steel is much to strong.”

“Some of you have come looking for peace of some kind or another. For some it may be peace of mind.  Some it may be world peace.  For others it may be for a piece of the pie.  Before we can start the tour and show you the wonders hidden here in Hangar 18.  And,” Vic pauses, “indeed, they are wonders.  We must sort out a small situation.”

Situation? - You think to yourself.  Oh please let there not be a situation.  You’ve been waiting so long, nothing can ruin this now.

“Our intelligence has determined that there are spies in this group.”

A few in the group are obviously startled by this.

“Unfortunately we do not have the man power nor resources to ferret out these spies.  That leaves us with two options.  Send you all away or let the group ferret out the scum.”

Immediately you stand up. “I’ve waited too long for this.  There is no way I am leaving!”

Others shake their heads nodding agreement.

“Very well,” Vic says.  “Then know this, it is up to you to turn in the scum.  Dead!”

With that, he walks to a far corner of the hangar.  But just before he is out of earshot he turns and says “CAN YOU PUT A PRICE ON PEACE?” and laughs as he exits through a small door in the far corner.

That last question echos in your head as you look at the other faces in the group.

Where do we start? – you think.

PLEASE BECOME FAMILIAR WITH RULE 15.

Soooo 4 scum in a game where there can only be at most 2? Damn you're good Red, you could be the best.

In all seriousness though I don't see how a No Lynch will benefit us today, can you explain your reasoning?

Posted

you know whats funny, getting out of jail by rolling doubles, then proceeding to roll two more sets of doubles and going right back

Nol - odds are a townie will get lynched D1, going ahead and voting No Lynch not only keeps our numbers equal to scum in the night, but also prevents any D1 claims from happening.

Disgusting.  This is the sort of logic that leads to ...and they lived happily ever after.

For those of you who don't know what that is, it is the fact that probablistically each time gains advantage by offsetting the number of kills in their favor and as such the idea was proposed that it is actually beneficial for a team to not kill at some points.  When both teams do this it is a stalemate of no deaths and so the game ends, typically with the line  ...and they lived happily ever after.

With 9 players it takes 5 to lynch.

I disagree with Red but that scenario is extremely rare Darthe. Especially in a game like this where 4/6 potential setups have a cop. Mafia can't technically afford not to kill but at the same time I don't see why we'd give them one up on us by not lynching someone. Odds are we will lynch a townie yeah but what we're doing is (hopefully) eliminating the most suspicious person which gives scum a smaller pool of people to hide in.

Posted

It is beyond rare.  I have a suggestion.  Why don't you either join me in pressuring the newbie or we all mass claim.  I think this could be ground breaking.  It will narrow down which game variety we have through the outing of town PR's and then our investigative views the vanillas (doc of course claims vanilla).

Posted

What if we only have 1 cop as our PR? That would turn this into a 100% vanilla game real fast.

Which isn't the end of the world, true. But is there really a good reason to do it? It's not going to give us a scum.

Posted

To be honest the only person that can really make the call to reveal or not is the doctor.  mafia roleblocker would out themselves to do so and doctor very well may, I just do not like the indecision left in having potentially less townsfolk than can be assumed in the original mafia game.  I mean, without a cop and doc we could lose the cop and all potential viewings with a single NK and be left in a full vanilla game.  Makes me antsy.

fatalistic and extremist much?  at best we have 2 cops or a cop and doc, at worst we have 1 power role.  Mafia already has the advantage, especially if they ended up with the RBer.

it isn't ending in a stalemate or "living happily ever after" its limiting the eventuality of a being down two townies come D2 before a cop can view, if we have one.

no lynch benefits the town and hampers the scum, you're heavy handed reaction pings.  mafia is a numbers game, the longer we keep our numbers up, the longer they have to hide and the more chance they will slip and expose themselves.  unless a scum exposes themselves, No Lynch is our smartest option for this setup.

pressure the newb or mass claim.  wtf Darthe.  why the newb over everyone else?  and option #2, you cant really be serious on the mass claim crap.

Posted

And the fun is underway.

@ Darthe - in the case of a mass claim, anyone with a brain is going to claim vanilla town.  Period.  We're not guaranteed a doc to protect a cop, if we even have a cop.
