So I was wondering where all the talk of cult came from, and found the culprit ^^^

 

Why in the world did you bring up cult Dice? You realize this is extremely questionable, and should cult actually exist in this game people will prob look to you first for the CL.

Generally speaking they're a bit tougher to track down. Because they can recruit, players whose alignment has been confirmed by a cop viewing or something like that are suddenly questionable again, and whereas mafia members may let slip possible connections between each other, culties may not have the same breadcrumbs since most of them started off with a diff alignment.

So, page 2 already. At least we have activity. Let's start off with some good old setup talk. I think this game is liable to have goblins, Smaug, Gollum, or possibly even Spiders or Wights as mafia/ third party. I also am assuming that we have an SK/Survivor/etc in this and that we shouldn't have anymore damn cult etc. Thoughts?

 

First mention note the name Despo it aint Dicetosser

 

It's an advanced game but to me the only obvious roles are the town (dwarves/hobbits) and mafia (goblins/wargs/spiders). Gollum could be a cult leader since wearing the ring slowly poisons your mind and turns you. Smaug seems like an obvious 3rd party choice though someone with more experience than I might be able to weigh on on what role that could be.

Also, I'm thinking there will likely be some mithril armor (BPV) floating around for protection against night kills? Thoughts?

Darthe's post was general setup talk, and in fact when he referenced cult he was talking about it NOT being in the game. I'll give you TG tho, his post def talks about the possibility of cult being in the game. I didn't notice it before because when I saw people introducing setup talk so early in the game, I just shook my head and flitted my eyes to the next post.

 

You see, as I mentioned, setup talk is one of the best ways for mafia to manipulate town into thinking a certain way. So I feel it best to pretty much skim past such discussions, for two reasons: 1) To help keep myself from possibly being influenced or manipulated by scum, and 2) To help keep myself from joining the setup talk. You see, it is almost impulsive to talk about setup in games where most everyone knows the subject matter, speculation is fun, and everyone wants to be the one who figures out what Gollum will be, or if Humperdink will be mafia or third party or something. It's an easy trap to fall into, which is why I try to abstain from it altogether.

 

It seems you did not make the same decision, and the fact that you came out with the post you did after several other players had already talked about how bad setup talk is, you spun us RIGHT back into the circle.

 

That, plus your OMGUS vote and what looks to me like overdefensiveness

You see to me you are being very sensitive to the issue of cult and setup in general. and yes i know i have seen you talk about not likeing setup talk before but your responses have got me sus on you. I am also halfway to thinking your linked in some way to either Darthe or TG.

No wonder Darthe and Dice brings up and talks about cult in negative tones here; they've both been screwed by cult very, very recently. How TG brings it up though, that bothers me. I don't think there is cult here; but he just seems eager to sow confusion.

An omgus can be predicated either by a vote OR a fos. The logic works either way, you attack someone pretty much cause they were suspicious of you, and that's it. You mentioned me being biased towards you, but how could I ever be biased against one individual in a mafia game? Even as mafia it wouldn't make sense, unless I was pulling some kind of gambit in which case you'd pretty much be I plicating yourself.

 

It might have been a poor choose of words, but either way it implies that you think I have some kind of personal vendetta against you.

 

As for the sensitive to cult and setup talk BS, of course I would be sensitive to those topics, as anyone who brings them up and talks early about them looks pretty suspicious. You aren't the only one, but you seemed to reply to my attention fairly strongly, so so far I'm feeling pretty good about my vote.

 

Oh, and your linking of me and two other people (both of which I happen to find scummy btw) this early in the game based on…zero evidence is laughable. How much more anti-town could you get?

I take the point about talking setup in advanced games. Never been in one before but I'll keep it in mind for the future.

I don't like this post. First there's the cult thing, but more important imo is the second part. Why are you waiting for the QLDers to show up before you start playing? Shouldn't you be trying to scumhunt regardless of whether or not the subjects of your joke vote are here?
