I think I am going to come back with a case on Des soon, but the TL'DR version for those of you who won't want to read it is that Des is clear mafia and you should kill him or, if you do not believe me then kill me and then him. Essentially he is baiting a way to get psuedo-town credit early game by trying to draw heat without as much to go on, but I will break that meta-analysis down later.

Also, again, I don't know why you keep saying that Dice or I brought up cult talk originally. It's been pointed out more than once that neither of us originated this talk. Yeah, I continued it after the first post because I thought it was interesting discussion, but after people pointed out that this wasnt the way to go at the beginning of the advanced game I dropped it.

So, page 2 already. At least we have activity. Let's start off with some good old setup talk. I think this game is liable to have goblins, Smaug, Gollum, or possibly even Spiders or Wights as mafia/ third party. I also am assuming that we have an SK/Survivor/etc in this and that we shouldn't have anymore damn cult etc. Thoughts?

 

It's an advanced game but to me the only obvious roles are the town (dwarves/hobbits) and mafia (goblins/wargs/spiders). Gollum could be a cult leader since wearing the ring slowly poisons your mind and turns you. Smaug seems like an obvious 3rd party choice though someone with more experience than I might be able to weigh on on what role that could be.

Also, I'm thinking there will likely be some mithril armor (BPV) floating around for protection against night kills? Thoughts?

 

Darthe's first post tech brings up the cult discussion, but his isn't open ended on the matter as he just says it shouldn't have any more cult. After that, you are the first one who actually brings up cult as a possibility, even going so far as to speculate on who the CL could be.

 

Dice ends up getting carried away with it after this, but he was right in that you and Darthe tech originated the discussion.

I have no idea where this is going now. I get what you're saying Despo, just feels like I'm trying to climb up a mud-slick mountain. My wombat vote does seem pretty pathetic now, but at the time it was a point that no one had picked up on. I should have dropped it earlier.

As far as I'm aware, falcon is pushing hard to try and lynch me, despo is continuing to try and keep an open field, targeting me as well, because I'm acting scummy. Darthe has pushed a few people very hard, but that seems to just be his playing style. I'm still FoSing Falcon.

I dont like how you have been playing so far and this just adds to that. Your backing off Wombat after getting alittle pressure for voting him which doesnt look town in my book. If you thought he was scum then you would have kept voting him, if you thought he was town but voted him anyway then you werent helping town. After that you point out 3 people as if you were trying to bring them into the spotlight to distract from yourself and then point out that you are still FoSing someone to draw attention to them.

 

Gonna wait till he gets up and see what he has to say to this before I vote him.

 

Bolded emphasis mine: I noticed a lot of this in the last few pages, people saying they were waiting for so and so to make a case, or to respond to something before voting.

 

This is awful mafia play guys. Withholding votes too much day 1 often gets us into that familiar boat of having to consolidate on the player with the most votes come deadline time. Putting a vote on someone day 1 shouldn't be treated with the care and deliberate anticipation of a girl trying to wait for "the perfect guy" to lose her virginity with. It's day 1, there's no need to dip toes in the water like this. Just vote, and if his response changes your mind, or someone else's case does, you can always change your vote later.

Oh, thanks falcon. I know what echo means, as far as I'm concerned its lazy reasoning. I have not seen a case where "what he said" was an acceptable reason to vote.

I'm pretty much waiting until Dathe comes back with his actual reasoning on Despo, even though Despo isn't in this game any longer it will still be useful in terms of whether there was a good case against him, or where Darthe is being scummy.

 

This came soon after Peace told him bout the newbie day 1 rule thing. Here's what bothers me about these posts: In the first one, the way he preannounces what his reaction would be like if people didn't like his second unvote after getting flak for his vote is a major ping. First of all, it makes his initial "frustration" seem like more of a charade, and second it is basically trying to preempt any suspicious feelings someone might have about the way Starrik seems to back off every vote when called out for it

 

The second post is pretty bizarre, in that he thought I wasn't in this game anymore (perhaps teammates on a QT are already plotting my demise? ), but the other thing I don't like about it is the "I'm gonna wait for Darthe's case on Despo, since others are doing so and I want to look like I have a reason to vote him"

Another person ...waiting... on someone else's case before they do any scumhunting of their own. Just incredibly weak. Especially with the deadline looming. Pretty much anyone throwing up the "Welp I'll just wait for so and so's thoughts before I give my own" just launched up my scumdar, as it's pretty obvious they are happy to prevent town from scumhunting by building up anticipation of a case that apparently will never come.

In general I still feel good about my vote on Dice. He seems to have disappeared in the last few days, ever since his train stalled, and the train on Starrik just seems lazy to me. Starrik seems like a very easy player for others to jump onto here for his undeniably questionable behavior. I could go either way on him still, but the way Dice's train just kinda puttered out for no reason once pressure on Starrik built up tells me Dice is the better option today

And I actually would like to hear Darthe's case, believe it or not. The fact that you're harping on about not waiting for people to make cases seems far too snobbish for my taste. Having different perspectives on the same thing is an advantage for town, I find, and a good way to find scum through the strength or weaknesses of the case, as you well know, and I don't much like that you seem so against hearing them, it doesn't seem very town play to me. Could you elaborate on why it's bad?

 

Also, Darthe is one of the people on my suspicious action list right now, so any post from him would be useful for me, hence, I'm going to wait for him to post before I comment on how scummy he is or is not.

Just because we got an extra day doesn't mean we should waste it waiting around. I think Starry's play has been very off, hence my vote on him. I'm quite fine with lynching him today, though Dice has also been acting rather scummy. I wouldn't mind switching my vote to him if it's necessary to achieve a lynch today.
