Just finished re-reading a couple of times... a few things stuck out to me.

Kaylee - seems more active and engaged in this game than she has been lately. Might not mean anything, but it seems like she's more concerned about being called out for inactivity than she normally has been. I have seen her play like this as town before, but it's been a while.

Basel - stuck out to me most during the re-read. His bandwagon-y vote on Kae, then near-immediate unvote after her claim pinged pretty hard. The Adien/Sensor claim... well, the character fits the role, and the character would definitely be town, but... eh. Mod-provided safe fake claims are not unheard of. And sensor is listed in the MafiaScum wiki as being "painfully overpowered" for town, I have a hard time seeing it in a basic game of this size.

Despo - comes across as trying to lead the town pretty hardcore. One of the things that jumped out at me was how he unvoted TRL but emphasized that "no lynch" is not an option and pushed that we would have to get together another lynch quickly or we might have to disregard the traditional D1 newbie pass and vote him anyway. There was no deadline at this time, and Marsh confirmed there was no deadline when asked... Yet after agreeing that he didn't like Basel's early claim, still he went back and voted TRL again citing the fact that we had no other leads, and again emphasizing "no lynch" is not an option. Now that a deadline has actually been set, he's against voting for inactives, and thinks we should pressure someone else. Which of the inactives is he trying to protect, I wonder?

Rand - I don't think I've seen anyone call him out for being inactive yet. But he has not contributed.

Lolguy - speaking of not contributing. I think he might be in the negative contribution points about now.

Awwwh that's so sweet! You gave me the biggest paragraph!

Also, the inactives I'm trying to protect are BG and Tress. Gonna make sure I protect those two REALLY hard.

:darkone:

On a serious note, it's def way too early to start lynching inactives, because those lynches are a lot more of a shot in the dark, and because of that they rarely give much info at all. The first few days we need our lynches to be as informative as possible, so as to give us a good heads up on what all is going on. Then there's the chance we hit a town power role that's trying to stay hidden by posting less. Not only that, but you can't really pressure an inactive just by attempting to lynch them, since chances are they'll either stay inactive or come back to the surface to omgus everyone voting them, which makes them look more scummy...

Just take my word for it, lynching inactives this early is foolish.

As for Lulz, I'm not trying to be mean here, but I'm not sure he's ever really contributed anything that meaningful to a mafia game, scumhunting wise. Just saying,

I'm not sure about Basel's claim, but I didn't want to just vote him next cause honestly it was becoming a game of just voting for all the active players.

I know, I know, it seems like I'm contradicting myself. First I say don't lynch the inactives, then I'm saying we were voting for too many active players.

So sue me, I can be a hypocrite and still be town

/shrug

Anyways, we already got a claim out of him, so since I really wouldn't rather risk lynching a role that powerful in a basic game, I figured I'd wait for someone else to pop up and draw my attention.

Incidentally, I still really don't buy what Kae or TRL is trying to sell us. Think they're both scum, but TRL gets the day 1 pass, and Kae gets a chance to try and vet herself.

I really wasn't trying to call you out in a harsh way. It's definitely kinda strange for newer mafia players to figure out their own playstyle, and find moments to insert their own thoughts.

The key is to ask questions, lots of them, even if you feel they might be a little dumb. Understanding the situations better will help you determine your feelings on the matter.

I've been guessing that scum have a similarly powerful role. Not sure what, but a cop and a sensor needs to be balanced out with something hard to crack.

Hey guys I'm back. I'm still trying to wrap my head around Senser being in a 13 player basic game along with a cop.

Doing the math it would seem awfully overpowered.

It's why I asked the Mod question on if this was truly a basic game. Cop, healer, scum roles. I no the rules here a more lax and basic/standard are interchangeable but 13 players and a sensor ALONG with a cop. I'm not buying it.

Strong FOS on Basel.

I agree with BGshrinko that a quiet Rand is a scummy Rand, but BG, why not vote if you think he is scummy?

Despo - While I thought for a while he was tunneling me pretty hard, I've seen him at least trying to create cases. The inactivity stance (against voting for it, for now) actually makes sense to me as a newer person, and we definitely don't want to risk throwing away a townie power role. I'm still curious about a few of his statements, but starting to get a town read right now.

However, going through and doing re-reads on the thread, I've noticed John Snow by not seeing him really mentioned by anyone, at all. He's posted frequently enough to stay present, but has really only been commenting on the rules of the game, contributing nothing to scum hunting. Seems to me this might be the perfect cover up for lurking, and I'm feeling he's probably scum.

Hmm...you seem to be correct, TRL. I suppose I had better change that.

Hmmmm....that is not a role we want to lose so early in the game, that's for sure.

Alanna, lolguy, thoughts from you 2?

Unvote

well if its a true, it would be a loss.

First: love the avatar.

Second: Unvote, vote lolguy for appearing as soon as i asked him something, yet not actually voicing an opinion. Reeks of scummy lurking.

I kinda agree with Kae on the bottom post.

Also, lolguy is the only person really pinging me atm that hasn't claimed.

i could claim and as much as i hate saying(i probably sounds like mafia) but how do i know any of you are not lying........

the only thing ill say is town will benefit from my role.

At this point, as in you're the closest to a lynch atm, and it's gonna be weekend, which means more inactivity, and a DL on Monday. That point.

okay i dont want to get lynched on D1 and its going to be a loss for town so im town vigilant

Seriously, three claimed town roled on day 1, what a blast for the scum team this is! We only have one doc (at least I hope we have a doc <.< ) so we're probably gonna loose those roles fast. Great work >.< bah.

I do agree with both despo and random that Rand and John seem a bit iffy, but I really don't have enough feel either way to justify a vote.

While Random's point on John is a good one, John's rolefishing here is what really did it for me. Vote John Snow. I'm keeping an eye on Rand because, as has been noted already, Rand tends to be scummy when he is quieter. But I don't find him as suspicious as I do Snowy.

Inactive Rand spells mafia Rand methinks.

Actually, I have to disagree with you on this one, it doesn't matter what role I am, I am usually active, as town or not, usually when I am not active, this signifies that I am a little busy and if I don't see anything sticking out in a game, then I don't post that much. Basically what I am saying, is that I haven't seen any strong cases so far and nothing too scummy.

What I'm saying is that in pokemon while you were scum you were much quiter than normal. I think your meta has changed to being cautious as scum.
