Also, THIS site has some good info on explaining how to play mafia, if you've never played before. But basically, you sign up for the games in the sign up threads (which I don't think there are any going on right now...we need to do some poking... :D)

Yeah, but there aren't even any signups. You can get signups going before the game ends. Definitely a basic game could be in signups right now, and an Advanced one, too, since there's only one advanced game going on right now and there can be two.

Vote Nolder for not believing Rand's claim, which no scum in their right mind would claim, and basically asking me and EP to ignore his past meta of doing stranger things when he was town, and a power role for town at that. Strange behaviour all around.

If you want to say you were implying that you think I'm a townie trying to get myself lynched or something don't imply it

Just come out and say it because otherwise you're distracting from what is important right now which is Rand

 

Vote Nolder for not believing Rand's claim, which no scum in their right mind would claim,

1. He hasn't actually claimed. He's made vague statements which I and others thing they understand. We could all be very wrong and if Rand is mafia this is exactly where he would want us. Thinking we know something without any hard evidence.

2. "Scum would never" is a logical fallacy I think. I believe it's the appeal to probability maybe? Or...actually I think the No True Scotsman fallacy fits best here. You're arguing that scum would never act in a certain way but in fact a scum could be aware of this line of thinking and act that way because of your expectation. Your argument is faulty at best and scummy at worst.

3. If Rand is hinting at a major character or role then you're just plain wrong. Mafia in a bind will often claim something big in an attempt to cool the heat or draw out the bigger town roles.

But Rand hasn't actually claimed anything. He has hinted a certain well known character but has also said that he isn't " some super powerful guy".

 

All in all it would have been better to not hint at anything if he was going to leave it at that. Soft claims and hinting, only help the mafia.
