Im getting this weird feeling. I kinda want to defend mynd a bit. I must be going crazy.

I dont have time to go through it all properly now but what mynd said at the start was true. D1 lynches often start for complete bullshit reasons on the hope we get one of the mafia. The fact that he just went for it and didn beat around the bush got everyone's tail feathers ruffed.

The ruffling got some interesting reactions though.

But yea, I think what mynd did at the start was just choose someone at random and put some values to it to see help give it some sway (next time just light a torch, works better Mynd ;) )

I've seen Mynd do just what you're saying before

this isn't how he does it

he actually tries to justify it by calling certain things scumtells and getting in the face of anyone who defends the person he's going after

then, if he feels like it, he'll flip and go after the people who agreed with his BS

 

the difference in this case is that he isn't accusing anyone of being scum for anything they did

he's essentially "picked at random"

that doesn't sit right with me

I have a feeling Mynd was aware of his own logical fallacy

my guess is he was betting no one else did

 

and hey imagine EP being a member of his scum team or a third party scum and we lynched him

I don't really see what the big deal is. Any vote today will be based on guesswork anyhow. Mynd's theory won't guarantee us bagging scum because nothing can. And even if he does hit the mark once using his theory, I think we're all smart enough to know that it won't necessarily work a second time.

 

With that said, if the majority isn't willing to try this out, then I guess we won't. But voting at this point with little to no information is not that effective either. Hence day one voting suckness.

As was already said, I think the whole "they must be mafia, because they haven't been mafia" is odd. I haven't been a mod, so I'm not sure, but in my experience it's been pretty random with who on the list is mafia as well as their skill level. Doesn't random.org decide who gets what?

 

That being said, I do think those that are going hard against the vote for EP are interesting. It's almost always a crapshoot on day one, so why not?

That sid, it seems as if Lev is trying really hard to protect EP. Either they're scum together, or Lev is positive of how EP will flip. I think the odds are better that Lev is scum in that scenario.

I am not so sure on a Levi lynch with more info I might be willing to vote her but your logic Mynd though it's sound in its most base reasoning is flawed for the fact that you assume Boyo picked the roles and didn't use random.org your whole case that isnt a case basicaly depends on it but with BG's blind following I'd say we'd probably find scum or third party there using your disregard of caseing/scumhunting to hide himself in

Hmmm. There's a lot of unfounded rhetoric that I am "blindly" following Mynd just because I was the first to go along with the idea... which is just ridiculous. Its the same as when people lynch based upon location in the opening list. It can work, it might not, but it isn't any worse than the odds of most day 1 lynches.

 

What Mynd is saying isn't an individual probability, but a statistcal likelyhood and a trend. Flipping a coin over and over will always have a 50/50 chance, but getting heads 10 times in a row is a different matter altogether. I understand the Gambler's fallicy here, but that is because Gambler's chances of winning are so statistcally low that repeated attempts to break a trend come up short. If you have a 1 in 100,000,000 chance of winning something and you try it 1,000 times, then 1 try gets you nowhere and repeated attempts (1,000) make no impact on a trend either. However if there is a 1 in 100 chance of winning something, then 1 try generally gets you nowhere but trying 1,000 times will likely get you somewhere. Same here, but the odds are more like 1 in 4 or so and looking at past games of people who haven't been scum in 5-6 games shows a higher overall likelyhood of drawing the mafia straw here.

 

Anyway, there are enough people calling bullshanks on this idea that it isn't going to go anywhere. So Unvote

 

Yeah, its a crapshoot on day one. At very least it was an interesting experiment. EP has taken it rather well I think, while some others have gotten really hot and bothered though. I have a few theories based upon reaction though. People who are lashing out are worried that Mynd's idea has randomly striken home w/ EP. Or people see Mynd's theory as a good stable foundation for a leading a lynch on him as a high profile player. OR a crazy idea that Mynd is scum and a teammate with EP, was going for this reaction, and when it settles down, EP looks fairly innocent in the scheme of things and Mynd gets off somewhat clean cause he's known for pulling stunts.

Kae, I keep mean ing to post something about it but my meds are really strong and aggravates my add. Gonna post just the blunt truth in spoilers, but lets not spam the thread.

I have an ovarian cyst that is measuring 8x8x5 cm that is currently smothering both of them. For comparison, anything more than two is considered extremely painful. It is quite possibly the worst pain I have ever felt and it is getting worse.

I will try again in the morning to fill in more details.
