Amadine Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Welcome to the first monthly discussion on the Intro board. These are designed to generate activity for both our new members and old. Feel free to ask questions and chat amongst yourselves, try to keep spam to a minimum though :) How did you find Dragonmount?
Amadine Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 I found DM through a google search too. I was looking for info on when the final book was to be released in the series. I found DM's tribute to RJ and discovered he had died. I was devastated. I lurked the DM forums for a few months then caved in and joined.
Elgee Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I found DM before Google or Facebook existed, I think. I went to Tor's site to see when the next book would be coming out and found a link to DM there. It was the first time I had looked at any kind of fan site for anything at all, and I didn't have the vaguest idea what to expect.
Ernmore Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I was waiting for CoT ot KoD to come out and googled WOT, this site was the top of the list.

Zizoz Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Might have been a Google search; but I'm pretty sure I had heard of the site already, probably from someone mentioning it on another site.
Aiel Heart Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 "the back of a book" should also be an option, because a friend told me about it, but then I forgot, but then it was mentioned at the back of one of the books and then I remembered and then joined that day :P

Aiel Heart Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Good. Well originally it was a friend that led me here so I'll just stick with that but now that options open :D
Elsworth_ Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Does nostalgia count? If not, then google :P
Amadine Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 So you are returning then Gadi? I remember lurking on DM years ago but never joined until January 2010. I actually joined to begin RPing and from there ended up in several social groups.
Elsworth_ Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Unfortunately, no. I was a regular of a WoT themed chatroom a little over a decade ago, tried hunting down any traces of the group and ended up here :).
Amadine Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 Might be worth starting a thread in the General Discussion forum Gadi - there are quite a few people who have been at DM for a very long time :)
Liitha Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 google, looking for info on when the next book came out, by random accident happened upon the rp boards, read some stories, left, was bored some weeks after and went back too read more wot related stories, ended up stumbling upon wt division offsite, and from there into chat, where i met some of the regulars and i guess then was traped, soon after submited my bios for a set of twins one being a novice the other a trainee
Ledinna Sedai Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 google This ^^ Google rules. Just put 'Wheel of Time' there, and found this :)
theancients Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 I've been reading the books for a while and after TGS I thought I'd check online to see if there was any information or website dedicated to TWoT. When I found this website and read the news of RJ's (I hope that's ok to use) I was gutted. Prior to just taking a chance (as was my case) in a second hand book store I purchased the first book, I'd been reading the full collection of the lord of the rings (not just the 3 books) but the silmarillion, lays of belgariad, etc. and for me personally inside I needed an epic story (which you've gotta agree) it is but imho RJ to me is right there with JRR Tolkien. I pose a question to the audience: (and maybe the board could throw up a poll) In todays technological advances - is the book in the hand worth two in the internet bush? The ancients.
Amadine Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 Welcome to DM! We might use that for January's discussion i think.
Panchi Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 I was searching for spoilers on Gathering Storm when I came across Dragonmount.
RiBurton Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 I found DM via Twitter. Halfway through the series and wondered if others were reading so I did a twitter search.
Kiserai Siswai Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Jenn Hama N'dore had tormented this one to find and post on Dragon Mount. For an Aiel, he is quite persuasive. If given a chance, he could move Stedding Jongai to Al'cair'rahienallen with a spoon.
amegakure Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I found it about 4 years back having been on a fan site for a different book. Found it through google
Crowl Rife Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I found Dragonmount not long after it came into being. I have no idea how I found it, since that was a long time ago. I doubt I used Google, since it had only just come online around the same time. I've been lurking ever since, only actually signed up a year or so ago.
