I figured you weren't joke voting me, but you never stated a reason.

Don't really have one

IIRC I saw someone vote you and figured that would make a good start and followed suit

Placing a vote on someone is not necessarily a declaration of your desire to lynch said person. Votes are vanilla town's way of gathering info. Apply pressure see what happens.

1. I definitely disagree with that

2. this seems like a soft claim...I don't like it

Could you clarify the soft claim statement. I'm not sure what you mean.

Unvote

I think Soy's soft claim is extremely odd at such an early stage of the game, and he seems to not know he made one. Slight FOS here.

Nolder, you really seem to have perfected the whole "get the game going" thing, LOL

Posted

I didn't see that as a vanilla softclaim... just as a statement. And even if it were, exposing it out in the open like that is a neutral move in my opinion.

Posted

It can be seen either way. Which is why I said slight FOS. But it's kinda like breadcrumbing a later claim, you can point to it and say hey, I was hinting at here.

hehe! A few comments. I dont believe that it has anything to do with the deadline being determined by activity. If everyone is joking around and afraid to get the game going scum will have no problem. Getting in there and delaying it as long as possible...ex. soy. Then the modgodess will eventually set a 12 hour deadline and we will scramble for a lynch. Also i don't care what the game is i think joke votes are a waste.. so i usually decline. Also by saying this it has stimulated some interesting conversation and day one has began... I agree with nolder on most things...soy's case was extremely weak...maybe that's his play style but immediately jumping out and attacking the first person to try and initiate game play is a bit suspect. Im not positive but will keep my eye open. Also the blackhoof vote did seem a bit early...

Same here.

I don't think that joke votes are necessarily a bad thing, Amega. It's a way to get the game started - how else is a good way to start the game then to vote? It would be quite boring without that. Also, as you can see, something always happens and the game actually starts. As long as people unvote then and start playing, what's the harm in the first one being for fun?

because they dont get started...eventually one person does something to start it like me and nolder just did, but i have seen day one drag on and then activity levels go to nothing cause every one's bored of it...and ive already said that its a great way to delay day one. skimming much??Also how exactly do joke votes get the game started, beside actual conversationl, they provide no info and leave the guess the same until real investigation begins.

I also agreed with Levity's statement as quoted by Key. Didn't see it as a softclaim at all.

I'm thinking there might be something to Boyo's thought that maybe Amega and Nol are connected somehow. Amega says Boyo jumped out and attacked the first person to try and initiate game play...when he voted Amega...and Amega didn't do anything to initiate game play except attack the idea of joke votes. I hadn't seen any effort to try and scumhunt from Amega, or any thoughts on the game thus far. I think Boyo's vote, and Nol's reaction to it, were what actually got the game rolling.

Tying that back into the Nol-Amega thought I started out with, I just notice that Boyo voted Amega and Nol jumped on it, and Boyo responded to Nol and got some discussion going, and now Amega's attacking Boyo's case using Nol's ideas.

Thinking on it more, it could just be Amega wanting to OMGUS Boyo without saying so, but I don't know. I could see Amega and Nol on a team, for the time being.

@Ed--I see what you did there. I wish I understood you.

unvote

Umm...lemme see how the votes are distributed, just a sec....

I was ninja'd by this...this actually strengthens my suspicions.

Also, I don't think it's black and white, Amega--someone has to start the voting, and joke votes are as good a way as any to get things going. Yes, when people refuse to do anything BUT joke vote, it's harmful, but they're not bad to start off with. I guess we could all start out not voting and then someone randomly picks someone and says "Tell me why we shouldn't lynch you" but I don't know...that doesn't seem very helpful, either. XD

Anyway, after looking at vote distribution.... vote Amega.

I think it is a good way to get the game going early, even if you end up having three votes on your name.

so pretty much you have no logical reason for joke votes other than its fun and that their convient instead of having to immediatly start scum hunting. also you have no case...its really gotta be the weakest. you say im taking nolders ideas...which isnt true..but you doing the same with hoof...trying to get an easy lynch.. if were going to start tying people together i can see a connection between you to.

First of all, who are you talking to?

If me:

Bold--That's not what I said. If you're talking to Key, then fine, but please clarify, because that's not what I said at all, and it sounds like you were ignoring what I said. Joke votes aren't useless in the beginning, because they help just as much as anything else to get the game going--it's just when people stick to them too long that they're a problem. How would you propose to start off a game without any joke votes period? Enlighten me.

Italics--Are you getting people mixed up, Amega? First off, no one said they had a case on you, I don't think. I certainly never said I have a case. I have reasons for voting you, yes, but no case. And not that you're "taking" nol's ideas, but that you're saying "Nol's right about this," and stuff like that. Just part of the connection I see.

How am I doing the same thing with Hoof, pray tell? I think you're stretching, here. Nothing you've said makes any sense whatsoever.

I meant soy..srry case was to broad..your reasonings are the same.. and I nvr said you couldn't joke vote...its just my opinion an I got attacked for it..working will discuss more later..and was directed towards you, mesh

caught up

have nothing to say really

I have no interest in this Amega thing

my beef was with Soy based on his reasoning (I said as much in my posts to him did I not?)

Amega doesn't strike me as anything one way or another

Posted

I will note that I'm wary to condemn Amega (and those who are after him right now) so early in the game

like I said in the dead thread for the Naruto game I think sometimes people take advantage of Amega's spelling/grammatical errors and make him out to seem more scummy than he really is

Posted

The reason I voted was because soy acted scummy imo. I don't KNOW or even strongly suspect that he is scum, but how can I be expected to have a rock-solid case by page 2???

I concur.

I see no particularly glaring case on Amega right now. There isn't anything necessarily wrong with refusing to partake in the jokevoting phase. Not everyone does it, and although mafia may tend to shy away from it at times, I really saw nothing wrong with Amega's reasoning. If he merely wants to voice his opinion on jokevoting, he shouldn't be condemned for something so simple. I don't like the train forming on him right now and would rather abstain from joining it.
