I don't like how people are using the "go townies" thing as a reason to vote 15. It's fine to vote for lack of substance but the "go townies" thing is really thin and just seems like scum trying to make a case out of nothing. Also, what does everyone think of that person who joked about a win condition involving switching sides? I am going to hold my vote for now. I kinda wish I could just vote someone by name, but that's not the game right now. Oh well.

I'm not arguing this. I saw right through Blackhoof, case him, voted him and YOU started and argument to kill any momentum on his train... he was scum. You can type as many incomplete sentences as you want, you derailed a D1 case on scum. Either you have terrible instincts or you are scum. A townie would have let that train go for a bit, let more people take sides... instead you started talking in circles and took teh focus off of Blackhoof.

You can vote whenever you want, but you should expect to be called out when you proclaim voting as the most telling thing about what people do, and then decide to wait for a train to hop on. Which is how I view what you want to do now.

As far as your stages of the game, I don't buy into ANY of that. I hunt scum. I case people, I push people and I find scum. You want to play by the book go ahead, so far its helped you derail a lynch on a vampire right out of the gate. My first two votes of the game were JLM and Blackhoof. Boom.

I have got to say i agree with John here, you can't make a point of saying how important one person's vote is and then say you are waiting to see who else votes where and not expect to get called out on it.

gah! this makes no sense

if you're agreeing that votes are an important piece of information then why is it scummy of me to wait for that information?

Show me a man who can't find the answer to his problems in a whiskey glass and I'll show you a man who has no problems to be answered

Show me a man who can't find his whiskey glass, and I'll have a problem with no problems instead of the man that finds the answer is finding the problem with the problems in the first place. *points finger*

Now, where's that glass...

more like where's our vote count?

Actually it does make sense. If a vote is so important you should make it off your own thoughts, and not off the thoughts of others who are willing to put themselves out and vote first. JMO

It was a point mentioned numerous times in the other thread, and people with the blind statements keep saying they suspect the three of us. Kinda bull.

Hence why I voted for the one I did. It has no content. Seems like #9 doesn't have a team to really speak about that much. Not to mention seemed like they didn't have much to say and didn't answer the questions. To me it was the scummiest on out there. I feel all alone in my vote for it, but I am fine with that.

why are you making the assumption that I am going to follow someone else's vote?

I just want to see who votes for what a little bit

it shows possible scum, teammates, teamscum, and maybe more

honestly I think everyone is voting a bit fast

especially with that BW on 15

as wombat said it's fine to vote it for lack of content but everyone jumping on the "townie" thing is worrisome

@Vote Count: Ahh ConQuest did not bold his vote *nods*

@Nolder: i did not assume anything - that's just how it read to me.

My vote for #15 is more about the lack of content than the "Go Townies", we had 24 hours to submit our thoughts on the game and there was no thought put into that post at all.

no offense dude but I think you're expecting too much of me and possibly the crowd here

I don't make any claim to be great at mafia

it seems like anyone who isn't playing to your standards is automatically fos'd

but anyway I find it hard to believe you were that sure of blackhoof at that point in the game

if you did good for you I guess but I don't feel there was enough evidence for you to be that sure

maybe you just feel more confident in retrospect?

my intent was not to derail your case

merely to question you

which I did and it devolved much like our current discussion already seems to be devolving

why are we rehashing blackhoof? if you have a question or concern about me then voice it

further discussion of that incident wont get us anywhere new

You can vote whenever you want, but you should expect to be called out when you proclaim voting as the most telling thing about what people do, and then decide to wait for a train to hop on. Which is how I view what you want to do now.

my intentions were to view if any trains formed but your opinion of me is already colored so I can hardly blame you for being cynical I suppose

I'm just trying to get as much information as I can before I vote

if you're going to begrudge me that than so be it

As far as your stages of the game, I don't buy into ANY of that. I hunt scum. I case people, I push people and I find scum. You want to play by the book go ahead, so far its helped you derail a lynch on a vampire right out of the gate. My first two votes of the game were JLM and Blackhoof. Boom.

here's what I'm reading "blah blah blah I got lucky twice and now I'm going to use my voting record to validate myself"

let's not forget that as someone who has supposedly been such a successful vampire hunter (perhaps you already knew who they were?) you're a prime candidate for recruitment

you said you're not scum but can you please repeat the phrase "I am not a vampire OR a werewolf" for us?

no wiggle room for you there

For starters. I am not a vampire or a werewolf.

Why are we rehashing Blackhoof? Because he was scum, and different players took positions around the case I built on him. Not just you and I, I'll need to look back but other people chimed in with opinions there too. A D1 case on scum, and having a coroner report to prove he is scum is a "game event" we SHOULD be looking back and rehashing what happened there... I'm astonished you are even questioning why it would come back up.

The statements you make contradict your play. Now you say you are trying to get information before voting, when on D1 you immediately attacked my case on Blackhoof before observing what might have taken place had you not derailed the train. Information is a by-product of making cases, and gauging people's reaction on them. Simply watching people vote, is not informative. It is the way people "sell" their cases, the validity of the case, and the underlying motivations that reveals "info".

I don't consider myself a great mafia player, chest thumping is all shtickt... I don't have high standards either, however, I won't sit here and have you outline elementary methods for how to play the game, then accuse me of "blah, blah, blah" after watching you ramble, talk in circles, debate semantics, twist words and derail cases I've put forward on SCUM.

Frakking this. I don't know what else I can say to get through to this guy... can't tell if he is purposely being thick, or just doesn't get it. Maybe I'm to blame for not explaining well enough. Once again, huge ass long posts back and forth with him have taken away from the sound points I was trying to make about the blind answers I found scummy.

Seems like every time I get that good feeling in my gut, make my case, Nolder slips in and starts rambling like he's been out in the sun too long.

You continue to push the conversation further away from the blind answers we should be voting on. You and Nolder, muddying the waters. Just pointing it out.

My age has nothing to do with this, you gonna tell me you don't like me next? I'm not insulting you... simply pointing out something that scum does quite often. Town has 24 hours to reach a consensus, and you are defending attacks from another part of the game. THAT is disruptive, and a typical scum play when on a tight deadline.

Nolder is doing the same thing. Want to do something pro-town? How about you stop making us wait for your take on the blind answers... its been hours, you still don't have a clear enough head to weigh in? Suspect.

LOL... We have 24 hours. This is what I'm talking about... muddy the waters, push it right to the deadline, less chance of a controlled lynch.

None of these trains are moving fast, the assertion that they are is silly. A few people have voted... none of those trains is close to a hammer. I'd like to run the scummiest ones up to 5-6-7 votes and see if we can make some people squirm personally.

I have no issue with talking about blackhoof but

1. you're singling me out (or maybe I was just first? I doubt it), you've said nothing about blackhoof to anyone else

2. we're going over the exact same thing we went over during phase 1

I explained then and I just explained again

unless you have something new to say I'm done talking about it

The statements you make contradict your play. Now you say you are trying to get information before voting, when on D1 you immediately attacked my case on Blackhoof before observing what might have taken place had you not derailed the train.

these are two completely different situations and are not comparable

and for the last time I didn't even start out attacking your case all I did was comment on it and you went off on me

you're the type of player I hate playing mafia with because regardless of whether you're town or scum you twist words and situations to make yourself look better and those you disagree with look worse

you constantly accuse me of derailing your case when you're really the one who derailed it yourself

I made a comment

it was your choice to respond

I was perfectly happy to leave it at that

Information is a by-product of making cases, and gauging people's reaction on them. Simply watching people vote, is not informative. It is the way people "sell" their cases, the validity of the case, and the underlying motivations that reveals "info".

I disagree

you can get information by making cases and watching reactions to them

but who someone chooses to vote for is very informative

for example

what if Player A votes/fos's Player B all game but Player B is never really in danger of being lynched

both players are alive with only a few other players left and suddenly Player A is reluctant to vote Player B

that indicates a bus

that's a very simple example but I think it illustrates perfectly how voting patterns can in fact be informational

I don't consider myself a great mafia player, chest thumping is all shtickt... I don't have high standards either, however, I won't sit here and have you outline elementary methods for how to play the game, then accuse me of "blah, blah, blah" after watching you ramble, talk in circles, debate semantics, twist words and derail cases I've put forward on SCUM.

debate semantics is one thing I will do to the death

people I've played with in the past have gotten very annoyed with me for that

but anyways I really do think you're holding me up to a higher standard than I can meet

I'm not really that great of a player

sometimes I make mistakes and my play is sometimes very inconsistent

if I make it closer to the endgame you'll probably see me vote hop all over the place and accuse everyone at least once

maybe you really do have good instincts and you didn't just get lucky with blackhoof and JLM but let me tell you you're mistaking poor play (I don't even think I've actually played that poorly but I guess you do?) with being scum

just so we're clear here

YOU are talking to ME

I'm not "slipping in" and "rambling" at you

I'm replying to things you say to me (well mostly, this obviously wasn't directed towards me)

I'm perfectly happy to stop any time

1. yes we have plenty of time to discuss this so why are you in such a rush to vote john?

2. actually the train on 15 developed pretty quickly though it's not really going anywhere at the moment

3. I'm up for running up the votes if everyone else is

So I've decide to play on my earlier statement and vote #15

also @ john dude im realatively new but im totally understanding the points ur making on christina and nolder. I find what their doing is distracting espicially christina, no offense to here but you half said it like 4 times now. Some one will come to ld u eventually. The whole nolder blackhoof thing is silly and I admit haven't paid much attention to it. But have you ever stopped and thought that by responding to these things after the first time makes you also part of the probblem as neither side is going to back down. Which will cause more wars of txt walls. Let it goo and if they contine to respond in the same way then ur case practically fights by its self. Just saying feel free to respond.

Yeah, I'm done... no offense Nolder, but you are stream of pure nonsense. If this isn't a scum diversion tactic, then you are one of the most non-sensible townies I've ever seen. Vote on one of the numbered blind responses, and give it a rest... you are proving me right exponentially and you don't even realize it.

I don't view grilling someone that I have in my top 2 for scum to be a problem... he's done nothing in this most recent exchange but illustrate my points, as you have agreed with here (highlighted in blue). Christina has done the same.

I know it gets a bit tiresome to have to read, however, if you look at the exchange with fresh eyes after the fact - you will see the holes in the points he repeatedly fails to make, and you will see him time and again be a repeat offender of what I'm accusing.

Does it make him scum? Not necessarily... but his play is not pro-town. Now we've got multiple exchanges wherein he's disrupted discussion where town is building consensus on scummy cases. He started this when I cased/voted Blakhoof, and started again when I voted #2 today. Hmm...

Posted

Practice what you preach John :p

Try hunting for scum, instead of telling people how to play and trying to direct town towards a hair-brained self-serving scheme that is all about you...
