Hoof, if they buy the cult leader power. A person becomes a cultist. There are four 3 point powers bomb, CL, forensic investigator, and a vig. If someone has one of those roles they can claim it if they are being run up. It's going to be random so it will be a deterrent for anyone thinking of choosing a CL role

Also hoof I'm not calming John with meta. That's cheap and that's one way I dont play. John knows that and we are having friendly banter. You continue to push for things that aren't there.

Posted

but if they are CL, why would they not just claim another power, like bomb? this in no way discourages peope from being CL, because someone could also pick a 2-point and a 1-point power, or 3 1-point powers, or what-not, and claim that they did any of those.

well, it seemed like you were. he FOS'ed you, you replied with "hey, you know im crazy, remember at that other mafia we did?" THAT my friend, is trying to divert someone by using metagaming as an excuse for your actions.

I believe that the disagreements posted between John McLaine, Nolder, and Jack_D are merely honest disagreements and different points of view between three aggressive players. To be honest, I have not seen hardly anything from anyone that is clearly very scummy to me at this time. Therefore, I am not going to vote for anyone yet. However, if I do see something in the next several hours that changes my mind, then I shall make a vote for someone, and post my reasons why for that vote.

This is a mafia game. I think some of you need to calm down. If you can't then seriously I say we lynch you. No name calling either. Honestly I have seen aggressive playing, but his is a bit extreme for DM.

Now, are we going to consolidate a vote on someone or are we going to let the chance slip by and let someone get converted?

Kudos to Vam for a very honest, sincere post. Very refreshing.

Min, I agree. We need to consolidate on someone. My vote is still on Tina, but I am willing to switch to a better option.

Now all we need is a better option

As of right now I belive that I'm going to stay where I'm at, I really don't know why the group has swung out for tina because my phone won't show the pages before the last one so I can't go back to review. I haven't seen her posts and I won't vote for some one I haven't evaluated yet on d1 except for the contol lynch, so if there is a massive push for tina by 3 am mytime, I will change,

20 minute breaks suck, not enouph time to read and judge all the info

I don't love Blackhoof's defense, definitely don't like his OMGUS "you are #1 scum on my list now" retort, but at least he gave a coherent defense and didn't start talking in circles like Jack and Nolder. It would appear that his train is going nowhere... I still contend that his "case" on Tina was scummy, but not willing to go to the mat for it given that we don't know Tina's alignment yet. UNVOTE Blackhoof

I tried to pressure Nolder, who seemingly wanted to derail any points I was making about Blackhoof. In doing so, I think I exposed enough to warrant voting him given that its D1, and therefore I will happily do so.

Jack is a hot mess. Would happily vote him as well. Sakea would be the only other consideration, unless someone else makes this decision easy for us. Haven't seen enough from anyone else to justify voting them.

Vote Nolder

This is just my personal opinion, of course, but if we're going to speculate on the setup...

I think the cult leader power is bogus. I think it's one of those that will just cost you some points and give you nothing back. DPR is evil that way. I also don't think the game would be very balanced with more than one scum team. Anything is possible, but I doubt it.

Scummy, scummy, scummy post there Lily. Seems like you may have purchased the cult leader ability or have intentions of it and you don't wan anyone jumping at the chance to be a rival CL.

No, it's just simple logic. DPR went to a lot of work to create a whole new setup. A cult would throw it all out of whack. I'm not the most logical person, and sometimes I add things up wrong, but that's what I see.

I'll confess, I did consider buying the CL power for about 2 minutes. If it was real, and I don't believe it is, it would be the most fun role in the game.

I really, really wish there was rep on this site...

Here you insinuate Lily purchased the Cult Leader role, and call her scummy for insinuating it is a "trap role".

Jon CL costs 3 votes which is the most someone can spend on a single role. If someone has spent more them three VP and they have been ran up PR it's there turn to be ran up then they need to speak up and say don't lynch me I spent 4 VP or something like that. Besides when it gets closer to endgame people or gunna be dropping like flys. So the CL is a trap role on this game. Because they will lose all their recruits because the mafia scum definition of a cult leader is a recruiter. And their recruits die with them. See the trap the closer to endgame? No I believe CL is an active role because it's a trap in itself if someone choses it.

Besides Jon I never said run everyone up everyday. Just like 3 random people a day. I think it's a valid strategy this early in the game.

Here you yourself call Cult Leader a "trap role".

Explain the 180° please.... I think it'll be funny.

Okay, just caught up. I quoted plenty of posts to reply to as I reread, but most of it is moot by now. I don't think Lily's comment about the CL role was scummy, given I thought the same thing about it - that it's likely not a real role. Then again, could be we're meant to think that.

I read the Nolder-John thing as two aggresive and likely townies players going at each other. I'd rather not dwell on it as I think it's derailed us enough for now, unless we decide to vote for one of them, which I don't advise, at this point.

Agreed that the idea of running people up is scummy.

Where I am used to playing 48 hours IS plenty of time, maybe it doesn't apply here.... especially given your started this post by claiming 3 pages in 12 hours was a lot. I'm used to higher volume... chalk it up to not playing at DM speed. I probably assumed wrong.

You play on JN right? From what I hear, we're used to playing much slower here. It's one reason I won't play on JN, I know I wouldn't have the time. DPR obviously intends to run a pretty fast game here, which is cool, but yes, we definitely don't play as hard and fast as JN does.

I'm not keen on this Tina lynch, but I can go that way if we need to. Problem is, most of the attention has been focused on Jack-Nolder-John, with a little bit of Blackhoof thrown in, and I'm not getting scum from any of them right now.

Its not a fluff post. Its me calling it exactly as I see it, John McLane. You have never played with me before, and I have never seen any of your posts anywhere online before except here on DM in the DPR Vampire Hunter threads. So, I really do not care if what you think I posted is fluff or not. It does not matter to me what you think about me or my posting style.

However, I shall answer your question. If in the next several hours I do not see a better option than joining the Tina bandwagon in order to get a controlled lynch. Then, I shall do so. However, if I do see a better option, and someone who is really pinging my scum detector big time, then I shall vote for that person.

Well, I messed up that post, didn't I? At least John saw what I wanted him to see...

Jack, can you explain WHY you think running random people up to L-3 is a good idea? To me it seems scummy, but because you always seem scummy to me, I'd like to hear you out on this one.

Yeah, that would be nice. Also (slightly tangentially), facebook should definitely have a dislike button.

What the majority of you have been saying about Blackhoof makes sense. Perhaps I read into more than Blackie meant. Unvote.

Not that I know who to vote for now. I'm getting the same 'aggressive townie' vibe from the Jack/John/Nolder group, though last time I thought that about Jack he turned out to be Cult lol, so basically, idk.

This post and the post blacky quotes before scummiest posts so far. Mafia is about using your wits to catch scum not forcing people to reveal. The town generally wants to keep roles secret so its highly weird that you suggest on day 1 (to maybe catch a cl if someone buys it *rolls eyes*) where we just force people to role reveal. That's dumb and a good mafia player, especially townies, don't need to use that technique.

@John where have I talked in circles. I think it's been more so miscommunication and misunderstanding on both our parts. I've been thinking in a straight line and running my ideas and clarifying when needed. I haven't been in circles

Lily, the way I see it if a player buys the CL role and it's real then it's gunna be a dominating force. The way to prevent that would be to run up random people to L-4 and give them a chance to say something before L-3. They can fake claim anything, but we would have a better idea at who might or might not be CL. If a player has spent under three VP then they can't be CL. Of course it sounds good on paper, but so did communism. I've been thinking about the mechanics of running people up and I believe it would distract from scum hunting this early in the game.

So I am still up for doing it, but I won't be the champion of it anymore. I think there needs to be a collective incentive to not purchase the CL role and I think we need to exercise methods of keeping it in check.

Actually song that's what I was doing. Using wits. As a townie or whatever else you are you have to use anything at your disposal to win as long as you keep the integrity of the game. This game is different because everyone is in a team. Players will rely on their teammates early on but it won't be long until suspicoun rips at those teams and townies run themselves off cliffs wodering if someone has been recruited from their team and said player is compromising their teams secrets. I offered a single deterrent to keep that scenario to a minimum and you call it scummy. Not that I don't believe you think it's scummy. I just want you to see things from my perspective.

Also @hoof I was just talking with him about game prowess and my crazy theries working. I don't think like everyone. I look for underlying currents and other possible future traps. I was no way trying to calm him, I think your mistaken. When he fosed me it didn't really matter. I tried to explain my reasons and then threw the little jab in about being correct.
