We're arguing about who to vote off the Internet. What could you possibly roleplay about that?

*snorts loudly in a sarcastic fashion* You obviously underestimate the power of pure boredom.

OMG it's Umbridge!!!

*hides*

Didn't we/they kill her already?! :D

My job is stressing me out beyond belief this summer. I had no idea it was going to be this tough and I don't know that I'm going to have the emotional fortitude to handle this game, by the time I come home every day. It kills me because I really want to play this game, but I think I'm going to have to bow out. :-\

**EDIT**

I'm home now, and I don't feel quite as drained as I thought I would, so instead of totally dropping from the game, I'm going to go ahead and play anyway, but I'll let this stand as fair warning that I may end up overreacting to something and if that happens, I'll probably want to leave the game because I'll know it's too stressful for me to handle after all.

You are automatically proteted by the Fidds/OG Mod Shield. Don't worry about a thing. If you get stressed, PM me, and we'll figure it out. :)

Look for this game to start closer to evening on the 4th. Right around sunset (Suras Time) when judgement is made.

Meesh, I know we've had our differences, but I will try hard not to take anything you say personally. Let's just have fun, okay? You should do this. It's Suras.

Everybody gets 1 Vig kill.

Everybody gets 1 Doc heal.

Everybody gets 1 Cop find.

This game will run for exactly three weeks, ending on July 25th, @ 8 pm EST.

Or until everybody is dead, if that comes first. And it might.

Everybody gets 1 Vig kill.

Everybody gets 1 Doc heal.

Everybody gets 1 Cop find.

So if each person killed the person below them in the sign up sheet with the bottom person killing the first person it would be an epic superfast mafia with no winners?

Night one will be bloody.

One third of the players will be Bonda Perrada.

A third of you will be neutral.

Bonda Perrada I believe are singers who use bonestone crystals to use magic.

And as far as the name for the users is concerened, I think some will still use "singer" if their user sings. Other's will come up with various handles and such, but a few have kind of leaned towards a formal name as the correct title. I like the idea and submitted "Bonda Perrada".  Then I came up with "Brin Shyyel", and that might fit better. Does anyone esle have a name they want to suggest? Then post it baby. Boo-Yah.

I agree that some culutres might still want to call users "singers". And some will have other slang names. Thus, I think it might be wise to give our users a created name that can't be traced to anything. This works for many other  worlds. I'll throw this out there because it is the best I have come up with so far.The Bonda Perrada. Singers. Soothsayers. Callers of Power, healers, and defenders of the throne.

For all Sura's information we will need later go here

~ Could one of the Sura's world builders fill me (and others) in or where to look on some basic things like what is the pirate brotherhood hall, the minister, and any other important elements that would be present in this game? Additionally if 1/3 are mages, 1/3 nuetral, what will the other third be... anyone have a guess?

From what I've seen of the old Sura games it will be drastically different from a traditional mafia game as DPR has been hinting at.

I'll explain everything before we begin, so don't worry too much about trying to catch up on Suras lore - that could take a while. heh

Bonda Perrada is a new term to Suras, (or, to my knowledge, anywehere else) and is the name given to those that support a leader who will attempt to overthrow the ruling Minister. This leader is known as the Bova Perrada.

The words are from the ancient Jaorlin tongue, as is the word Sinta, and the practice of double naming in general (Sel Arren, Sel Erratz, Des Leera, etc.

But like I said, we'll get to all of that.

Cool mist wreathed around the pillars of The Hall. Dawn would break soon, but the secret meeting that took place had no need of its light.

Far better, the Captain thought, that these words be spoken in darkness, at least for now.  He turned to face the other Captains.

“You are all here because you believe, as I do, that our Minister is unfit to hold office any longer.  I say it plainly because I believe it to be a simple fact. For years we have stood by as The Hall has entered into treaty with foreign nations over shipping rights and territories. We have stood by as The Hall bowed to the rules of the Floating Cities, and worse, we have bowed to a Minister who no longer allows us to take what we can.”

“What we have become is not what we were. The Hall is no longer a symbol of power, but instead, has become just another merchant group.”

He held up both hands in a motion of acceptance.

“And I know that The Hall has prospered under this Minister. I know that there are many who support what he has done. But I ask you to consider this; where does it end?”

The Captain pointed to a wall entirely covered by a magnificently painted map of the southern hemisphere of Suras.

He pointed to the Islands that were their home.

“Sel Arren has been our home for over six hundred years. It was claimed by The First Minister, and our blood has been shed in its defense ever since.” He paused, sweeping his hand over the much larger Island of Sel Erratz.

“We could have settled here. The grazing lands are lush. The forests and rivers are beautiful. But The First valued those things less than he did a defensive position…”

His finger slid across Sel Erratz, over the small bay that separated that island from Sel Arren, and stopped on the rocky outcrop that was their home.

“Here.” He nodded, “This is where The First chose to build The Hall, on a island of rock. And as his masons made their first cuts, they knew that this Island, this mountain of  stone,  would never fall to attack, though it would weather many.”

“Today, our grand halls and homes are all carved into this mountain. We face the setting sun, and between us and Sel Arren lie the Dragon’s Back Docks that house our ships. Sel Arren itself is home to our country estates and families, and I for one, very much like things the way that they are. The way that they were meant to be.”

He judged the looks in the other men’s eyes. It was almost time.

“I tell you that The First built this place, our home, for a dominant society! Not a bunch of merchants! He built a fortress to defend and attack from, not a place of philosophy from which to listen to other nation’s points of view. And above all, I am positive that he did not ever intend for his Captains to trade their Sinta Blades for pens to write in ledgers, or scales to measure currency.”

“The First demanded that his Captains and their crews be the finest bladesmen on this planet because he intended us to be warriors, and I say it is time to be just that!”

He shook his head now, a sneer coming into his voice, “The Nineteenth would see us neutered. He put an end to the Swifts. He made it illegal to attack any ship unless under attack, or under conditions of war. He…married a witch…” He paused for just a moment.

“…And we are at peace. Our numbers grow, and our profits are greater than they’ve been before. But how far will this go?”

“On this very night, one of our own, Raisa, has been put into the cages under the Arch to be tried for murder. But Raisa did not break any of our laws…she’ll face trial because of the laws of the Floating Prayer Cities.“

“Why did she cut Handal’s throat? Who knows, but that is between her and her Captain. Not some Monk who has been offended and demands justice! That Monk and his city live because we supply them with everything they need! They bow to us, not the other way around!”

Nods of assent came now, and a grumbling swelled from the crowd. It was time.

I declare myself Bova Perrada. I will challenge the Minister’s reign, and by The First, I will take his seat and bring order and dignity back to The Hall! Will you join me, brothers? Will you become Bonds Perrada, and make our society as grand as it was meant to be? What say you…?”

Nods were followed by “ayes” and the Captain realized in pleasure that it was done. He had become Bova Perrada.

“I thank you, brothers. I will declare myself tonight in order to forestall judgment against Raisa. We will have 21 days to either win the support of Sel Arren. Let us not waste a single one.”

Oh, I shall. I shall. I'm still working on a bit of backstory for those new to Suras.

I think I might quit my job and just do this all the time. It's much more fun.

I am! And on that note, I'll shamelessly promote my latest published story "The Night Wing" through Pill Hill Press - It's in the Haunted anthology, but a few of you will recognize it from the Critique Circle. It's been re-worked and polished, and is one of my favorites - lemme go get a link...

Here we are - http://pillhillpress.lefora.com/  click on the cover for BN ordering info, or go through Amazon. The cover art is only on this page though...

As far as Suras goes, I've been writing a novel, but I'm wanting that to be really, really good. I'm not releasing any short stories to anthos, so the only writings about it will appear on DM. And, because it's no secret, I use the Suras games to judge how well some of the ideas come across and whether or not people seem to like it.
