Favourite evil characters

Whether because theyve got a tragic backstory, or you relate somehow (hopefully not the evil part), or you just think they're badass. Doesnt necessarily have to be a darkfriend.

Taim - too mysterious not to be interesting. The scene where hes introduced and he has a casual conversation with Rand while being stabbed by a bunch of swords is awesome. Plus he built an equal to the white tower in less than a year.

Fain -  the guy nails fades to doors, what more is there to say?

Demandred - cant help but feel sorry for this guy, would have been the greatest name in the Age but because of LTT he's a footnote. Plus by my count hes the only male forsaken who hasn't died yet (I know Ishy is back but he still got owned twice by Rand).

*Ingtar - His sacrifice and redemption in the end of TGH is one of my favourite scenes in the series.

Narg

* his "evil" status might be up for debate because he went good in the end.

** Anyone who kills any of Elayne/Gawyn/Cadsuane gains automatic inclusion into this list.

Ishamael/Moridin.

The master manipulator, the one whose moves always aim at the bigger picture. Dragon vs Nae'blis, I love every second of it.

Taim.

Hes mysterious, without being mysterious about it.

Taim: Hey Rand, look at this secret handshake Demandred showed me.

Rand: WHAT?!?!

Taim: Nah Im just messin' wi y'all. Seriously though, that handshake was cool.

Fain.

His wildcard element is the best thing. Plus, in TGH he thinks hes invincible, and his new powers are cool. Also, the fade-nailing-to-door activites make him as badass as almost anyone else barring the top end channelers.

Until I find out what Demmy's been up to, I'm going to say Moridin.  And I try to maintain a distance between Ishamael and Moridin,  Ishy was an idiotic nutsoid who was spanked 3 times by a sheepherder,  Mori's a BAMF.

None of the others have impressed me.  Scar, Darth Vader, Hook, and Agent Smith wouldn't associate with any of 'em.

Ishamael for sure. Unfortunate that he had to fall into the classic evil villain flaw of severely underestimating his opponent, but consider all the manipulation he's been doing, he's got my vote.

I just wish I knew what the hell he is cooking up as Moridin. He gets to start out sane, and recognizes his mistake earlier, he's got to be spinning something devious.

I really like Asmodean, but then again he enjoyed music, but my favorite by far was Rahvin because he actually killed Mat and Aviendha, and his use of compulsion to get the Lion Throne was interesting to read.

Yeah, Rahvins up there for me as well, for me his downfall was more satisfying than almost anyones. Rand was giving all he got in that fight, and Rahvin was winning.

They're all great at times and in their own way!  But... Semirhage always stood out as she even scared the hell out of the other Forsaken.  I also always liked Corlan Dashiva (Osan'gar) - he couldn't tell one end of a sword from the other but he always seemed to emanate menace & serious danger.  RJ was good at that!

Sammaul/Sammael however you spell it. Come on you got to love him. He tried to make a truce with Rand and the first thing he done with the truce would of been to use to his advantage and try and kill Rand. I liked him as he was unintentionally funny and he actively went head to head with Rand. Okay he failed but he could of beat Rand in Shadar Logoth if not for Moridin.

Also Fain is my favourite villian in the books. So top three would be Fain,Moridin and Sammy.

  • 2 weeks later...

Asmodean: I can identify quite strongly with the "wanted immortality for the art" motivation, even if I certainly hope I would not do what he did (that is, go to the Dark One, etc) in that situation.

I also think he had potential for some kind of redemption if he had not gotten killed.

Of the Forsaken I like especially Graendal. She seems so shallow right on the spot, but then you realize that is just a mask to confuse people.. She's pretty smart! Also, I love how she surrounded herself with half-naked compelled slaves LOL

I like also Semirhage, soooo sadistic! I remember reading chapter 6 of LoC when she's torturing Cabriana while making her Warden feel pleasure, and I was like "OMG she's terrible!" XD

I know she's not a DF (but she's done such a disaster that she can't be considered one of the good guys lol) but I love Elaida!

I find her such a complex character.. She always believes she's in control of everything around her, always believes she's got the right of all things, and then she inevitably screws everything up XD

I love the fact that she always interprets her Foretellings as it pleases her XD

I love her relationship with Alviarin too  :D She's just mad at everything Alviarin does, always thinking "one day I'll put her in her place!" while she's the one being manipulated by Mesaana..

She's adorable! She lives in her dream world, with her ivory animals collection and her knitting..  :D

Fain. There's just so few people out there that can trounce Fades without using the One Power or brute strength, and he scares the heck out of them..

Oh and Moridin is a much better improvement over Ishamael, that guy was a crackpot from the start..

I guess since it's my opinion, it can't really be "wrong", but I've always found Moghdien's character to be very fascinating.

Much is made of her fear of moving outright, her being scared to expose herself and her plans and the like, but in some ways she is much braver and more of a risk taker than many of the other Forsaken if you consider the positions she put herself in throughout the course of the story.

It was always so ironic to me that the others made so much of her fear, yet she continually confronted people who were stronger than her and put herslef in positions of danger. True, some were in fits of rage, but she did lash out and strike often. Those who regarded her as "lesser" at times often were much more shadowy and manipulative.

I just found the contradiction interesting.
