Aaaaaggggghhhh!!! So close!

If Danya had voted before the relic was used, she would have lynched and gone to night...

Kivs will post all of the delicious game details, but I can explain a few mafia questions:

When we lost 2 out of 5 mafia members in the first 3 days, we had to really consider the suicide play as a viable option. We had no way of knowing that Anox was the vessel  :P so statistically, it was a better guess to say that a living innocent was probably the vessel and that the odds of winning that way were better than 3 against 18. So, I tried to play suspiciously, but also to try and cause as much collateral damage as possible.  I tried to pull everyone's attention away from the relics for obvious reasons, but I also tried to get people to drink the elixir.

Lavinya was obviousy going to be healed, but after Nae died, she could have been hit - I have to ask Danya, but by that time I'm pretty sure that she was trying to churn through as many people as possible and taking a chance on hitting the real finder might have wasted a nightkill (if a relice could protect - a fair assumption) so I can see where Danya would have just nailed players that would not be protected.

And amazingly, she brought it right up to endgame - had Danya placed those votes and killed successfully, she would have won and taken home of that GLORY! She came close as it was though...

YEA DANYA!  ;D 8)

This was an eeexxxxxcellent game.

Yeah, I got annoyed almost as soon as I sent in Jeran, but I had no idea that Lav wasnt being healed or not. But since I had four votes, I figured I could swing it my way, even if I voted myself with one of my open votes. I could have changed it I guess, but I forgot about it, and then I went to bed  :-\

The worst part is that I had four votes, and I actually sent in my votes to Kivam, together with my NK, since I knew I would prolly be asleep when the day started, but he said that I had to send them in again during daytime. so actually... I blame Kivam for losing!! *nodnod*

So, sorry all my mafia buds, I tried for the glory, and failed horribly  :'(

And thanks for that Alys, I chuckled to myself as I wrote it  ;D

I had one of those damn shards to start the game off with and then acquired the elixir and drunk it  ::) at the same time I got a relic that had been used by Lia to end a day early.  Nobody ever stole mine either until I died.

I told Kivam in a PM that I think he was just playing me with the 3 relics and once all of them were together they'd be useless but of course, he didn't say anything.  That was a good game, I was completely roleless  :(

Posted

Almost everyone was roleless, which helps explain Verbal's epic fail as a tracker - especially since Pookie kept using the Necronomicon on herself (so any view of her would have been "stays home" and the haunter wasn't being used.

Anox had the same problem as a watcher.

Reading the QT...  ;D

Oooohohohooo...look at the big lie on Alys. That's bad - we're gonna have to be careful of that.

Nah - I am seriously unbalanced now, so don't play off of me - between Quib, Al, and Alys and everybody banding on Thor for no reason, I got no game. Do your usual thing and I'll see what i can pull together...sheesh...

I actually did a re-read of the QT last night, and it was only then that I remembered that I had an extra hidden vote.  ::)

I'll be honest, I didn't get your endgame play.  Why off Jeran?  He was one of the 3 who hadn't been investigated - if you weren't going to take out Lavinya, why not kill Hybrid or Aemon (the confirmed innocents)?

You came so close...TO ULTIMATE GLORRRRYYYY! Damn.

She came so close to me? Huh, she should tell me the next time she's visiting Canada.

OH!! I remembered why!!!

I knew Jeran was high on the list of being Viewed, which would have left the viewing useless in some ways, and usefull in others. I was banking on me not being viewed since my "role" was so "townfriendly", and when I noticed my fourth vote, I knew I could win it if I could get my votes out fast enough. Which I didnt. If I were in a different timezone, I would have just sent in my votes as soon as Kiv ended the night, and hurried on the thread to vote for whoever, most likely Pookie.

I know Wes, sorry  :'( :-*

See!  I knew that necronomicon was doing evil stuff I didn't know about in addition to the mean stuff to me.  But the shot at knowing the vessel kept me coming back for more.  I'm just glad the cult didn't get to use the spare votes.  The only night I targetted anyone BUT me, it was night 4, I was pretty sure Quibby was vanilla town, and he ended up dying anyway (the necronomicon couldn't kill someone directly so that wasn't me).

I'm actually pretty happy with the way I played this game, even though I had to be careful how I posted and that made me feel crummy for not being a more prolific poster.  I'd never played a game with items like the relics and they definitely tapped into my lurker-plus-wall-of-text playstyle.  :)  The description of the game was what finally made me sign up, but the added bonus is that now I'm much less nervous about playing with all ye "big game."  ;)  This was my ninth game, so seeing all the names of people whose previous games I read to teach me how to play mafia and then signing up was a little intimidating, honestly.  But I had a ton of fun and I feel like I've come quite a ways since my first game (Jeran's Seanchan game 3 months ago).

You played a great game.

If Alys has me, DO NOT try to save me!

Aww! So brave! And at about this point, I asked Kivy if he was having fun, I believe. Though, botched might not be the best word. I was, after all, trying to be nice! It won't happen again, dear. Next time I get that kind of ammo, I won't try to see if you are innocent first. Which you could have been- note Pookie.

Seriously, so many times I was cracking up in this game.  Couldn't believe how long you guys let DPR and Anox hang around - Crusher had Anox dead to rights day 2 or so, and so did Barm . . . she kept dodging the questions and none of you called her on it.

When Ed stole the Haunter I thought the mafia was going to win in a rout - Pookie stealing it from him saved the town.

Posted

Then it was supposed to start hitting random people, which tells me that somebody either banished it, or the mod forgot.  Anybody use something that might have banished a Haunter-type thingamabob?

Neither - I forgot to deal with thefts when I wrote the initial PM to you, so I tweaked it when it got stolen (so the Haunter would only stay out if it killed the person holding the crystal)

I suppose the real problem is out guessing yourself. I felt I was being to... judgemental- A known problem of mine- and not giving people a fair chance. I forget sometimes that I do well with my gut instincts. :P

I feel marginally better, but mostly due to the MVP (Lav) saving the game, with honorable mention to Nae (healing) and Hybrid (ending day before Danya could win it).

I dragged my feet in this one....was in too many games at once.  Won't happen again - no more than 1 or 2 at a time for me, now.

Thanks for bailing me out, town.  I was one of the few townies with a role, and did absolutely jack with it.  Hehe.

I have to say, Verb, you put Danya's name out as a suspect, even if the logic of it makes no sense to me. I think everyone, by appearances, assumed a double voter would be town... and she did make fun of us for it being a relic. :/ There was never steam behind anything; just a slight watchfulness, until the end.

Posted

I probably should have checked verbal, but I had no way of verifying his role, and I thought he was suspicious enough to try and pin someone else without wasting the view on him. I almost viewed Danya the night before, I actually had the thought in the back of my mind that the double voter could work against town more effectively than for it. This is what happens when I try to rationalise too much and ignore my first instincts. Same for not viewing DPR earlier - I tried to think too much lol.

I looted the scroll and another elixir from Barm, so I ended up with the same information you had Alys. I finally had a successful steal from Tigs when she died, and I was no where near early enough to loot the body.

DPR, you were after my relic, so I deliberately stole it right back from you. Sweet sweet justice, I thought. Until a few days later when I drank it. *facepalm*

Oh, yeah!  I forgot something!  Ed, in case you were wondering why you've been walking funny, Lavi has your big toe.

I was going to start a collection of them if I hadn't died the night after you. :P
