Call it a lame tactic if you will, but I thought that if I revealed and tweaked the role (claim I could get percentage finds) then I could smoke out the mafia who would (in my mind) inevitably counter-claim.

A. Claim/counter claim is always risky and not usually worth it. With no reveal pressure and no information, I usually assume the claimant is inexperienced or lying their a** off. There was no pressure. There is no information. You are not inexperienced. One choice left.

B. Mafia [should] only counter claim if there is pressure or the potential misinformation is worth getting killed. There is no information to misinform about- though you already tried. Again, no pressure. Again, I see a liar who is probably still lying. Lying in this game NEVER aids in friendship.

 

If I revealed my real role straight off, then it would make a nice target for a nightkill.

Still maintain, no reason to reveal. If that was your plan, wait till later. If it was for points… all points should be directed at winning for your team and time as appropriate for that.

 

But by me claiming a 50% finder (which as you've mostly said is a fairly useless role), I would be able to get the reaction I was looking for without painting a target on my back

Or claim for no reason and paint the target on your back all by your lonesome.

And for what it's worth, my guess is that the Poisoner / Poison Doctor works differently than the Arsonist / Firefighter.  I know I'm not as good at role design and tweaking as Wes, but if I was the Mod, I'd have the roles like this:

 

- Poisoner can poison 1 player each night

- That player will die after a specified amount of time unless "found" by the Poison Doctor

- I would imagine the poisoned player will have a PR that the Poison Doctor will need to find

- The Poison Doctor can "find" the Poisoner and neutralize them ala the Arsonist / Firefighter

 

If true, that makes the Poison Doctor's role quite difficult depending on the subtlety of the potential PRs.  Of course, I could be way off, but that's how I would design them.  Just my 2 cents.

 

Instead of the PR thing, we have the Fortune Teller.  Same premise, though - a specified amount of time before death.

 

And I even posted that I posted about this....

 

I can think of an action that's supposed to be in this game that this role would somewhat make sense for.

And I would never tell you that I was either better nor correct no matter what. I’m wrong often enough to know that I can be quite off. But what I will do is line out what I see with what I know and give you the run down and ask what questions occur. I will make my choices off of what information I have at my disposal. I don’t consider myself one of the better players; others count me there. Sira, Kivy, DPR, they are so natural at it; I could never live up to that.

 

Also, Rey, know that I consider myself LUCKY that I fingered the correct person after I received my information. I could have been crazy wrong and harmful to the townies.

OK, here's where I'm at:

 

Rey - this "I lied about my role" claim is awfully convenient.  In fact, its exactly the story I'd have pushed Rey to go for if I were a mafia teammate watching this unfold (particularly the "Rey's role is of limited use, so he's a good candidate to test Alys with" line of reasoning).

 

That said, I don't like the out Alys has been leaving herself, and the fortune teller role, as described, could be useful.

 

Nae and Lavinya still top my list, but I think I need to vote [glow=red,2,300]Rey[/glow] at the moment, and hope the Poison Doc doesn't need Rey to be useful.

Look I planned a play out and made a hash of it. I'm not scum people. Alys said it herself that she can be wrong - I'm trying not to be offended that people clearly believe her over me, and in your eyes you have good reason.

 

I'm more annoyed however about those who just jumped on my bandwagon. Did some of you guys even read the posts? Or did you just think "what the hell" and got on it?

 

This is a good game, and no doubt it will only get better. I'll follow it from the dead if need be, but I'd much rather be alive and participate.

A question for you Alys. Are you saying that ONLY 1 of them can be Mafia, or at least one of them is mafia.

I already thought of this, but as stated one. It does not qualify with at least or only, for what it’s worth. Like I said, too good to pass up. 2 trusted, one out at best with me being questionable still given that I can’t pin point with any accuracy. Again, I won’t hide the facts.

 

That's what I was getting at with my questions.  To make sure that I understand correctly, this means that if Reyoru flips mafia, neither Pandy nor Kivam are cleared, right? 

 

I'm worried that this could be a bussing play to clear Alys and maybe one or both of Kivam and Pandy from suspicion, given that the votes were already leaning in Reyoru's direction.  It would only work if she was a godfather, but role reveals with a lack of information make me sketchy.
